Paddy Power rates McGregor at odds-on to make UFC return

McGregor odds-on to come out of retirement for a second time?

Novelty Betting & Other Events Betting

UFC star Conor McGregor announced his retirement from the sport this week. But not everyone is convinced that it is his real plan. Some think that it merely a bargaining tool down the line so that he can earn more cash in being “enticed out of retirement” for more action.

The last time that the Irishman was in the Octagon, he lost to rival Khabib Nurmagomedov by submission. That was the Las Vegas fight with sparked a mass brawl at the end, both of the fighters getting punished by the UFC for what went down.

This is not the first time that McGregor has retired from the sport. Bookmaker Paddy Power have 2/5 odds on that Notorious will be back in the Octagon again at some point, so they are clearly taking the news with a pinch of salt at best.

The bookmakers has priced up other alternatives on McGregor as well. After his foray into boxing when he duelled Floyd Mayweather, is that a direction which he will go next?

Paddy Power have Mayweather at 15/8 to compete in another professional boxing match* (betting odds taken from Paddy Power on March 27th, 2019 at 3:05 pm). His retirement announcement after all only referred to his withdrawal from Mixed Martial Arts.

Another angle that the bookmaker has put out there is that McGregor has announced the retirement just before Wrestlemania 35. They have put him at even money to make an appearance at the Wrestling spectacle* (betting odds taken from Paddy Power on March 27th, 2019 at 3:05 pm).

Ladbrokes went in a more obscure direction as they have priced the former World Champion up at 3/1 odds to make an appearance in I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here 2019* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes on March 27th, 2019 at 3:05 pm). At the end of the day, it’s hard to see him actually staying out of the limelight.
