Some light relief away from the troubles of the Covid-19 outbreak, Paddy Power opened a 2020 I’m A Celebrity market this week. This is probably one of the furthest things from the minds of people at the moment.

Plus, it’s so early, with the show generally being aired at the end of a calendar year, that this is speculation to the nth degree.

But the traders at Paddy Power have lined up a fair few names who they think could head to the Australian jungle later in the year.

Again we have to stress that this is mere speculation. We did a little bit of our own research on social media and a lot of Google searches. The goal was to see if we could come up with any cornerstone of information about the chances of some of these celebrities taking on the show. We could find none.

But then, it’s fun to speculate.

Ricky Hatton

Hitman Hatton, who does a lot of public speaking events these days as well as punditry, is in at 1/4 in the I’m A Celebrity market* (betting odds taken from Paddy Power at 01:09 GMT on Thursday, 19th March 2020). Paddy Power has the former boxing World Champion as their overwhelming favourite at a frankly ridiculous price.

LadBaby

Christmas Youtube sensation LadBaby, whose real name is Mark Ian Hoyle is on the list as well. After having back to back Christmas number one songs in 2018 and 2019. it could be a great time for him to go to the jungle to raise some extra publicity if he’s looking to make it a hattrick of Christmas number Ones.

Veteran TV Personalities

Richard Madeley popped up on “The Circle ” as a total surprise contestant. So that dabble into a bit of reality TV will pique interest about him joining the I’m A Celebrity Cast. Madeley is the same price currently as The Grand Tour presenter Jeremy Clarkson.

The outspoken Clarkson would certainly liven up the camp after what was a boring 2019 edition, won by Caitlyn Jenner.

Love Island contestants are scattered through the Paddy Power list from the likes of Wes Nelson, Olivia Attwood, Muraura Higgin and Megan Barton-Hanson.

Intriguing potential players

There are some names at bigger prices which range from the bewildering to the bemusing.

Ex-footballers Eric Cantona and Vinnie Jones are both there at the 25/1 mark to head to the jungle to join Ant and Dec this year* (betting odds taken from Paddy Power at 01:09 GMT on Thursday, 19th March 2020).

Former tennis Grand Slam champion Andy Murray has been priced up at 50/1 in the I’m A Celebrity 2020 market* (betting odds taken from Paddy Power at 01:09 GMT on Thursday, 19th March 2020).

Former Speaker John Bercow is at 40/1 to make a surprise appearance. Bercow has been linked with an appearance on the show since leaving his position in the House Of Commons late last year* (betting odds taken from Paddy Power at 01:09 GMT on Thursday, 19th March 2020).
