Partick Thistle v Dundee United Betting Tips – Scottish Championship, 9th August 19.05pm

Gary Caldwell’s Partick Thistle and Robbie Neilson’s Dundee United go head-to-head at Firhill Stadium on Friday night in the Scottish Championship. The Terrors, who are the title favourites, kicked off their campaign with a comfortable home win over Inverness Caledonian Thistle. Can Neilson’s troops make is six points out of six on Friday? We should be in for an intriguing Championship fixture in Glasgow between these two sides.

Partick Thistle News and Form – Can Thistle continue their unbeaten start?

Partick Thistle came from behind to draw 1-1 with Alloa in their Championship opener last weekend. Caldwell’s side were slow out of the blocks at the Idodrill Stadium, falling behind in the 34th minute. The Jags rallied after half time though, finding an equaliser through Joe Cardle on the hour mark.

Thistle have made an unbeaten start to the season. So far, Partick have won four and drawn one of their first five league and cup games. In the Scottish League Cup, the Maryhill Magyars have beaten Airdrieonians, Queen’s Park, Hamilton Academical (on penalties) and Clyde.

In the Championship last term, Partick won 12, drew seven and lost 17 to finish in sixth spot. It was a difficult season for the club, as they scored just 43 goals and shipped 52. Will Thistle fare better in the second tier this time around?

Key-Facts – Partick Thistle v Dundee United

Dundee United News and Form – Two Championship wins from two for the Terrors?

Dundee United finished runners-up behind Ross County in the Championship last term, picking up an impressive 65 points in the regular season. United then faced off against Inverness in the Premiership play-off semi-finals, winning 4-0 on aggregate. However, they went on to lose to St Mirren on penalties in the final to miss out on promotion in the cruellest way possible.

However, Dundee United look hungry this season, and the club have been tipped to win the Championship title. The Terrors kicked off their campaign in fine style last weekend, thumping Inverness at Tannadice Park. Lawrence Shankland was in inspired form, scoring all four in the 4-1 win.

Neilson’s boys have had a mixed bag of results at the start of this term. In the League Cup, they have beaten Stenhousemuir and Cowdenbeath, drawn with Hearts and lost to East Fife. However, their ultimate goal will be promotion to the Premiership come the end of the season.

After a stunning win in their opener last weekend, Dundee United will be looking for another victory this Friday night. The Terrors head to Firhill Stadium as the favourites to leave with all three points.

Partick Thistle v Dundee United Predictions

Dundee United win: With the excellent Shankland at the forefront, the Terrors got off to a stunning start in the Championship last weekend. The title favourites will want to make it six points from a possible six, and I fancy them to get the better of Partick Thistle at Firhill on Friday. Back the visitors to come out on top at 6/4. Having said that, though, I can see Partick finding the net on their own patch. Therefore, put some money on bet365’s 4/1 for United to win and both teams to score.
