Partizan Belgrade News and Form – Can the Black-Whites secure a surprise win?

Partizan Belgrade finished third in the Serbian SuperLiga last season. After 11 matches this term, they occupy fifth spot, winning seven, drawing two and losing two so far. Belgrade fell to their first home reverse of the season last weekend, losing 2-1 to Vozdovac.

The Black-Whites have made a decent start to their Europa League campaign. After drawing 2-2 with Dutch outfit AZ Alkmaar at home in September, Partizan picked up an impressive 2-1 win at Astana a few weeks back, with Umar Sadiq scoring both goals.

 

 

As I mentioned, Savo Milosevic’s men are a tough side to play against at the Partizan Stadium, and the Serbian side will fancy their chances of causing a Europa League upset on home soil this Thursday.

Despite last Sunday’s good result, United are way down in 14th place in the Premier League table after making a woeful start. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s troops have picked up just two wins from nine league encounters so far.

However, they have been pretty solid in Europe up until now. The Manchester club followed up a 1-0 home win over Astana with a battling 0-0 draw in Holland with AZ last time out. Despite scoring just once, the Red Devils have yet to concede in Group L. Can Ole’s boys make it seven points from a possible nine with victory in Serbia on Thursday?

Manchester United win: The Red Devils will be buoyed by last Sunday’s 1-1 draw with rivals Liverpool. However, with the pressure still well and truly on, Man Utd could do with maximum points in Europe on Thursday, which would be their first win in any competition since beating Astana in the Europa League five weeks ago.

This could be a close one, but I fancy United to nick the points in Serbia, with the away win priced at 13/10. United have been very solid at the back in their two Europa League group matches thus far. Ole will be looking for a clean in the Serbian capital in midweek, and United are available at the tempting odds of 11/4 to win to nil.
