Peru News and Form – Tough test in Sao Paulo for Los Incas?

Peru kicked off their Copa America campaign with a frustrating 0-0 draw with Venezuela in Porto Alegre. Despite playing against ten men for the last 15 minutes, the Peruvians failed to break through Venezuela’s stubborn defence.

The White and Red were far better in their second game, beating Bolivia 3-1 at the Estadio do Maracana in Rio. Los Incas actually went a goal down in that one, but they fought back brilliantly after that, with goals from Pablo Guerrero, Jefferson Farfan and Edison Flores turning the match around in Peru’s favour.

Even though they are having a decent tournament in Brazil so far, Peru have lost eight of their last 15, winning just five of those along the way. Before facing the hosts in Sao Paulo this weekend, the Peruvians are priced at 25/1 to win the tournament.

Brazil News and Form – Canarinho to take top spot?

Tite’s team head into this clash in outstanding form. Since losing 2-1 to Roberto Martinez’s Belgium at last summer’s FIFA World Cup in Russia, the Brazilians have won ten and drawn two of their last 12.

However, one of those draws came in their last game, as Canarinho were held to a goalless stalemate by Venezuela in Salvador. The Brazilians dominated possession but only managed one shot on target in the entire match. It was certainly an uncharacteristic performance by Tite’s team.

Prior to that, Brazil kicked off their Copa America tournament with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Bolivia at the Estadio do Morumbi. Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho scored twice for Selecao, with Everton Soares of Gremio adding a third late on.

Brazil have won the Copa America on eight occasions, but the last of those wins came in 2007. They have flattered to deceive in recent tournaments, but the hosts are the 6/5 favourites to lift the trophy this year.

Peru v Brazil Predictions

Brazil win: After dropping points in their last game, Brazil will be keen to return to winning ways in this one. Selecao have a stunning record over the Peruvians over the years, and Tite’s troops should add another win to that list at the weekend. The host nation could ease to victory, so put a few quid on Brazil to win -1 at evens. They are also capable of keeping a clean sheet, and the tempting odds of 21/20 for Brazil to win to nil are too good to turn down.
