Peru v New Zealand Betting Preview – World Cup 2018 Qualifiers 14th November

Which of these two nations will be making their way to Russia next summer? The tie is still balanced at 0-0 after the All Whites managed to hold their own in the first leg on home soil. But now they face a long, difficult trip to Peru to try and pull off a shock as they were always underdogs to get through this tie. It’s really advantage Peru with home advantage heading their way now.

Peru v New Zealand Betting Tip

This qualifier is still in the balance then after a 0-0 draw in the first leg. As it has been seen time and time again, the first leg of such an important tie was pretty dull and conservative. Peru went to New Zealand, expected to win but they laboured for creativity and in the end, only produced a pretty toothless display overall to get themselves held to the draw. That’s not exactly a disaster though for them with the second leg on home soil. Under 2.5 goals at bet365 for the second leg is a price of even money. In that first leg, the South Americans just couldn’t come up with the quality up front to make anything count and they came up against a dogged and determined New Zealand defence. The Peruvians were one of the higher scoring teams in CONMEBOL qualifications and actually only Brazil and Uruguay scored more than Peru did, but their defence wasn’t up to all that much.

But New Zealand didn’t get much pressure on the Peru defence in the first leg. On home soil in qualification, Peru posted a W4 D3 L2 record, the defeats coming against Brazil and Chile. They have remained unbeaten in 2017 in both competitive and friendly matches, so are going well with a W5 D4 record from their games this year. Each of their last three games now though have been drawn and there is a price of 5/1 on a Peru 1-0 option in the bet365 correct score market with another 0-0 draw at 10/1. This doesn’t look as if it is going to be an explosive game. Peru have scored in each of their last five home fixtures but they are missing their goalscoring captain Paolo Guerrero and look a bit lost without him. Jefferson Farfan, who was ineffective up front in the first leg is the 5/4 anytime goalscorer favourite.

So the Kiwis are hanging in there against Los Incas, but they were largely outplayed in the first leg. There is a vast gap between these two in the FIFA World Rankings, with Peru up in 10th and New Zealand down at 122nd. The All Whites came under a lot of pressure in terms that they could barely get out of their own half and had to sit back. But as the first leg wore on they did grow in confidence, probably knowing that they really needed a goal to defend out in Peru. It is just a little difficult to see them creating a lot of chances to really threaten to win this fixture in 90 minutes. Both teams not to score at bet365 is only a price of 4/9.

The All Whites have played eleven games in the 2017 calendar year and they have won just three of them in a W3 D2 L6 record and have picked up just the one win in their last nine. Ultimately they just may lack the quality to get through this and the Kiwis have conceded at least two goals in five of their last seven fixtures. Burnley’s Chris Wood who only came off the subs bench on 70 minutes in the first leg because of injury, is their big hope and he is an 11/2 anytime goalscorer option for the Kiwis. An away goal for them would blow this tie open, but getting it is not going to be easy for them.

Peru v New Zealand Predictions

Peru to win: The South Americans are going to be strong enough on home soil to lock in a win in this one. On the evidence of the first leg they are likely going to win this game to nil as well because the Kiwis aren’t likely to hurt them too much.
