PGA FedEx St Jude Classic Golf Betting Info
Well, no doubt that Euro 2012 betting is going to be interfering with the golf interest on the weekend, but there is a good field to take notice of at TPC Southwind. This is a par 70 course going off over 7,200 yards. This is quite a challenging course for the players as it has historically presented quite a challenge in finding the fairway off the tee. So look for a player with good driving for sure. It is not an easy course to drive on though, so accuracy off the tee is going to pay dividends. But that is only half the battle at TPC Southwind because the greens can be a bit of a nightmare challenge, because they are a long way from flat. The greens are reachable, but getting it near to the pin is another difficult challenge, and so birdie scores are pretty tough to come by. The last eight years the course has played over par, that is how tough it is.

PGA FedEx St Jude Classic Golf Betting Defending Champion
Harrison Frazar. Who? You may well be asking yourself that, but he played the course well last year. That remains the American’s only career victory on the PGA Tour, so don’t be expecting him to make a big splash again this season. He has a second place under his belt this season actually, but that was way back at the start of the year in the Sony Open in Hawaii. Has missed five of the last eight cuts for tournaments this season. Says it all, not worth a punt. Out at 100/1 with Stan James.

PGA FedEx St Jude Classic Golf Betting Favourite
Really interesting field this week, primarily because Rory McIlroy is out and he is not the favourite. So who is? That is Zach Johnson who is the hot property on the Tour at the moment. He is the man in red hot form, confirmed with his win at Colonial in th Crowne Plaza. That’s not all, he ran in second place at the RBC Heritage and The Players prior to that, so gunning very well at the moment. Played some majestic golf at Colonial recently including a stellar 64 in the first round. Rested up last week so should be strong and excellent in bogey avoidance and has landed two top fifteen finishes at Southwind in three attempts. Zach Johnson is 10/1 at Bet Victor.

Other Contenders
Rory McIlroy. What has happened the the Northern Irishman, who seemingly couldn’t ever put a foot wrong? Well, he missed the cut for the second time in two PGA tournament (three in a row now worldwide) when he bombed badly at the Memorial Tournament last week. He fired a bizarre 79 in the second round to put himself out of the tournament. Not a great time for him at the moment, he is just starting to battle himself a bit mentally. However, he has game when he is on song and you expect it come back sooner rather than later. TPC Southwind is a tough course on which to make that happen though, but because the playing field is going to be level, he may just be worth a punt to come good. Is second in the PGA in the all-round which will help, but has only played here once before back in 2010 and landed a top 30 place.

Graeme McDowell is going to be worth looking at for your golf betting this week because he is not in too bad of a shape at the moment. Like McIlroy he has only played here once before and that was back in 2009, but he did land a top ten finish on that occasion. What could help McDowell here is that he is leading the PGA Tour in fairways hit and that will be a big factor as mentioned at TPC Southwind. Having a mixed bag kind of season, but seems to be a solid fit for the course.

Robert Karlsson has to be considered simply because of his course history. He isn’t in the greatest form of the season, which is a surprise because the Swede is usually solid as a rock. But dips in form happen to all players and that is all that is. What should put him in good standing for a title challenge here is that he has finished as runner up for the last two seasons at TPC Southwind. So he likes the Memphis course and he has come here not in great shape before and performed.

Best Outside Bet
David Toms looks a great candidate this week, because he is a two times winner of the event, and therefore the money leader of St Jude. He has fired in seven top tens at the event, and this season on the PGA, has two. Missed the cut at Colonial recently though, and has a solid enough game to challenge near the top of the leader-board. Could easily and quietly sneak through the field without much attention and claim his first title of the season. Toms is 20/1 at Bet Victor.
