PGA Humana Challenge Golf Betting Info
This is a tournament which should produce a lot of low scoring at the top of the leaderboard. It is of the desert bowl of California and La Quinta for PGA Golf betting this week, as the competitors take on the PGA West. This is a pro-am event, with the event changing its face a little last year, being cut down to a 72 hole event. Tremendous value around in this week’s field which has to be dynamic to be in with a top ten shot, and it is going to be well worth dipping into the Place Market and Top 10 Finish.

PGA Humana Challenge Golf Betting Defending Champion
Mark Wilson landed the title in La Quinta last year and got himself a nice FedExCup points haul. He was out at the Sony Open in Hawaii last week where he,carded a horrible 74 in the first round. He recovered a bit with a 68 but it wasn’t enough to save him from missing the cut. His win at La Quinta was his only success last season. Obviously not in terrific form and missing out on a couple of extra rounds last week isn’t going to help him prepare for a title defence. Wilson is out at 66/1 at online bookmaker Ladbrokes for your golf betting.

PGA Humana Challenge Golf Betting Favourite
The big news about this year’s event was that Phil Mickelson had committed to play. You would have though that may have put him in as favourite, but no. That honour goes to American Brandt Snedeker, who will likely take a lot of stopping this week. Why? Birdie chances are going to be coming thick and fast over the weekend, and Snedeker not only has great flight on the ball, but he is the PGA’s best putter. He has great course history as well to backup your option on him and he has landed two top ten finishes in his last three appearances here. He was ranked second in all-around here last year. Big threat to field, and took a solo third at the recent, shortened Tournament of Champions. Well worth a Place Market wager at 4/1 with online bookmaker Ladbrokes.

Other Contenders
Now here comes Phil Mickelson who is a two time winner of the Humana Challenge. Not only that he is the all time money leader. Didn’t find great form at all when he appeared last year, never got his  game going and finished a lowly T49, totally out of the running. The thing about Mickelson is that he found himself getting stronger as the year went on in 2012 and finished with a flourish. He nailed his consistency at the back end of last season, so it’ll be interesting to see how he comes out of the gates. A win in his first start this year looks a long stretch, as he may be a slow starter until he finds his groove again, but worth covering in a Top Ten bet.

Matt Kuchar could deliver big this year. He was in decent nick at the Sony Open last week, where his game was looking a bit confused. He scrambled tremendously well and he needed too because he unusually had great difficulty finding the greens with his approach shots. His close work though got him through and was solid enough with the putter to carry over into a strong finish this week. He has solid form at the Humana as well with his best result a share of second place back in 2010. Hasn’t been outside the top twenty five in his last four appearances at the Humana.

Putting is going to be a massive asset this week and along with Snedeker, you can turn some attention to Bo Van Pelt. His best finish was a T5 four years ago and hasn’t been o n the radar since them. However, like Mickelson he was bang on form at the end of last season and is red hot with the putter when he is on song. He can eat birdies for breakfast and as long as the rest of his tee to green management is fine this week, he should be in recognition for a shot at the top ten.

Robert Garrigus was superb here last year and may be worth looking at to reproduce something again. We haven’t seen him yet this season but he finished T2 at the Humana in 2012. He was blistering with the putter, snatching up 30 birdies along with an eagle to boot. The only one to edge Snedeker in the all-around stats here last year, was Garrigus. Slightly cautious with it being his first time in competitive action of 2012, but the course fits his game and could be great value.

Best Outside Bet
Because of his missed cut at the Sony Open in Hawaii last week, Zach Johnson will be down the pecking order. However, prior to that missed cut he had made the last twelve in a row. He went well last year at the Humana with a top ten finish and was finding the greens well enough. Any replication of that kind of form could put him contention for a good run. Worth watching for the first round to see how he’s going, but could be value out at 25/1.
