PGA Wyndham Championship Golf Betting Info
Following on after the difficult challenges of the U.S. Open, and with all of the majors being wrapped up now for 2012 season, focus will now turn back towards the race for the FedExCup. This week the golf betting is at the Sedgefield Country Club for the Wyndham Championship. There are some new greens which have been installed at the course but Sedgefield has a history of being a pretty easy course for the PGA stars to tame. Putting has usually been an afternoon stroll for players in the past but the new greens are expected to play quicker and therefore a little bit more challenging than usual. We’re looking at a competitive field if not one full of the greatest leading stars, but there is a tremendous value around this week for your golf betting and this par 70 course should present more of a straightforward challenge for the players involved.

PGA Wyndham Championship Golf Betting Favourite and Defending Champion
Webb Simpson, as part of his incredible 2011 took the title winning the Wydnham Championship last season. The American is back to defend his title this week and he needs to get himself on track just a little bit after missing the cut at the U.S. Open last week. His missed cut can be forgiven just a little bit because that was the first time in four weeks that he had played an event, due to the pressing issues of expecting second child. However the missed cut at the PGA Championship was his third missed cut in the last six starts. There were sandwiched in between all that was his win at the U.S. Open, which came straight off the back of a missed cut at the Memorial. So Simpson hasn’t been as consistent as he was last season but he has still managed to get himself inside the top 10 six times this season and three times in the last seven events. Should be good with the putter and goes as favourite because of his win here last year. Webb Simpson is trading at a price of 14/1 with online maker BetFred.

PGA Wyndham Championship Golf Betting Other Contenders
There’s a great evenly matched field and the golf betting options behind Webb Simpson this week at the Wyndham Championship. We’ll start with Jason Dufner who has been having a tremendous season. Just about made it through the cut at the PGA Championship last week when he started putting on a charge to finish in the top 30. Dufner has rocked 17 consecutive cuts now during 2012 and is sitting third in the FedExCup standings. Dufner has recorded two wins on the PGA Tour this season both of those have come within the last eight tournaments that he has entered. He is in tremendous form at the moment one of the hottest tickets on the PGA, taking victory of the Zürich classic in New Orleans and then HP Byron Nelson. He it has also recently ran up a T4 at the U.S. Open, a seventh place finish at the WGC Bridgestone, along with his T27 at the PGA Championship. In stunning form at the moment and he is finding the greens with remarkable consistency and accuracy and looking relatively untroubled with his putter at the moment we should put him in good stead for perhaps a third title in 2012.

Sweden’s Corl Pettersson is a previous winner at Sedgefield Wyndham Championship. His win came back in 2008 but he did land a fourth place finish last season. You can also look back on this form from last week at the U.S. Open where he went very strongly and was leading at the close of the first round. He soldiered along through the weekend to pick up a third-place finish, which was his fourth result in the top three this season. Another thing working in Carl Pettersson’s favour is that he holds, jointly, the course record at Sedgefield with a 61 scored in his successful 2008 outing here. The big Swede has a PGA win under his belt as part of this season, taking victory at the RBC heritage back in April.

David Toms is going along steadily enough to be in with a shot this week at Sedgefield. Despite only take a share of 42nd at the PGA Championship last week, his form prior to that was pretty decent. Toms has four top-10 finishes the season prior to the PGA Championship landed back-to-back top 10 finishes at the U.S. Open and the WGC Bridgestone. But while he hasn’t been able to get close enough to win this season you just kind of been edging closer. His scoring has improved dramatically over the past three tournaments which signals that he is building a little bit of momentum should be an intelligent high on the leader-board this week.

Bill Haas posted a T32 at Kiawah Island last week and let himself down a little bit by not being able to push on in the fourth and final round. Surprisingly has has only two top-10 finishes this season, and both of those came at the start of the season. Haas has been just ticking along nicely lately though with two top 20 finishes coming at the Open Championship and then the WBC Bridgestone. Haas seems to be levelling out at the moment and the question will be whether or not he can find that top gear and consistency to charge upwards for a title. His figures at the PGA Championship which ranged from 75 to 69 shows his inconsistency. Needs to produce for solid rounds of golf which hasn’t happened for quite a while to really hit the heights that he is capable of. At an easy course like Sedgefield, it could be a good confidence booster for him.

Other big names in contention this week should be Charl Schwartzel, Brent Snedeker, Nick Whatley, Nicolas Colsaerts and Spain’s Sergio Garcia. There is plenty of tremendous value around anywhere between the 30/1 and 4o/1 mark this week. This is a pretty wide open field hence a great deal of value. Again don’t forget the value of looking in the top-10 finish market.

Best Outside Bet
For your golf betting this weekend has good to know that there has been an ever-increasing amount of interest going on Tim Clark. The South African hasn’t shown up this season, having only landed one top-10 finish in 15 events and having only made the cut once in eight of those, but his T11 at the PGA Championship last week shows a consistent return to form. Clark landed a T15 in Canada prior to his US Open exploits, and his best finish at Sedgefield was a sixth back in 2008.
