It is off to Glasgow for week six of the Premier League Darts betting 2012. There were some surprising results in last week’s round at Brighton, all of which resulted in Phil Taylor opening a three point lead at the top of the table, and still remaining unbeaten for the season. The race for the other three places to qualify for the knockout stage looks as if it is going to be a closely ran thing this season. There were huge wins for Phil The Power Taylor last week, and notably Simon Whitlock, which has left the league table wide open. It is Taylor who still remains favourite to win the 2012 Premier League Darts tournament outright, as the players head North of the Border for Week 6.
James Wade v Adrian Lewis
A little surprisingly, England’s James Wade has come to life in the last fortnight, rattling off back to back wins after losing his first three matches this season. Wade took a major scalp of Raymond van Barneveld last week, in his best performance of 2012. Wade faces double World Champion Adrian Lewis this week, in what is an interesting match after Lewis has lost his last two. Wade has generally looked the more lack lustre out of the two, but Lewis just hasn’t been firing up to his usual standards over the past couple of weeks. There was a horrid 8-1 defeat against Gary Anderson and then defeat against Simon Whitlock last week. Lewis needs a response, goes against the darts here, but will still edge things as favourite to beat Wade. Not sure if Lewis is bad enough to lose three straight at the moment, but he is sitting bottom of the table with just three points from five matches. Wade hasn’t looked strong enough to win three either. Should be a good contest.

Gary Anderson v Simon Whitlock
The defending Premier League Champion Anderson, is sitting in second place in the table heading to Glasgow, three points back of Phil Taylor. After a run of three consecutive wins, Anderson lost last week to snap his streak. After beating Adrian Lewis 8-1 in Exeter, he faced Phil Taylor last week and lost 8-1 in a heavy defeat. Still, Anderson does look one of the strongest players in the tournament again and should be a shoo-in for a top four spot. He goes up against the unpredictable Simon Whitlock this week, and the Scot will be favourite to get back on track. Aussie Whitlock is doing alright, but you never quite know what you are going to get from him. He is unpredictable and therefore you have to back the consistent player here, and that is Anderson. Anderson is a heavy scorer, although Whitlock is trudging along decently, actually with a higher three dart average than Anderson. Would take the Scot though this week, as he goes with the darts.

Phil Taylor v Andy Hamilton
The Power is going along strongly, as expected. His consistency is just remarkable, turning up week after week and just looking mighty. He breezed off an 8-1 win last week against arguably his stronger competition for the Premier League title, and that was Gary Anderson. For the first time in Premier League Darts betting 2012, Phil Taylor finished under a 100 three dart average for a match (99.89). He is just strong, head and shoulders above the competition at the moment, and he takes on Premier League new boy Andy Hamilton. Hamilton suffered a loss last week against fellow debutant Kevin Painter, which has left him on just three points from his five matches. Hamilton’s three dart average is the lowest in the Premier League at the moment. It should be one way traffic from Taylor.

Raymond van Barneveld v Kevin Painter
Raymond van Barneveld will be looking for a bounce back performance after suffering defeat against James Wade last week. Barny has been playing well and scoring quite heavily, but he is just struggling with the killer instinct to put matches to bed. There has been just the one win, two draws and two defeats from him this season, but his play has suggested more than those rewards really. Still, he’s on four points and could do with a good win to keep himself in contention. But debutant Kevin Painter is going well at the moment, winning three from five and sitting joint second in the league. The Artist scored an important win over Andy Hamilton last week, which was a response to him losing in the previous week. He is proving to be a bit of a handful at a good shot at making the top four at the moment. Would expect this one to be close, but Barneveld has outscored Painter this season.
