Bournemouth and Villa receive boosts

Over the weekend Aston Villa collected a 2-0 home win over Crystal Palace, a crucial win which saw them end a three-match losing streak in the top flight.

Bournemouth came up with a huge result in taking a 4-1 success over top-four side Leicester, ending a 9-match winless streak that they had been on.

Will it all prove to be too little too late for both of them however?

Bournemouth were left third from bottom after their success over Leicester, but the two teams immediately above them, Watford and West Ham also found crucial wins.

It means that the Cherries are three points from safety, with Villa four points away. There are just three games left for each to play.

Premier League Relegation – Bournemouth favourites

The Cherries are currently odds-on to take the drop. After a fairly decent start to the season from them, it has been downhill for them really since November. Now they are in heaps of trouble.

Their next game is away at Manchester City as well, which may not offer Bournemouth the shot at points that they really need.

In their final home game they will face Southampton before finishing their campaign out at Everton. Both of those are mid-table teams with nothing to play for.

Can Eddie Howe’s men pull off a great escape?

Man City v BOURNEMOUTH
BOURNEMOUTH v Southampton
Everton v BOURNEMOUTH

Villains with a lot of work to do

Aston Villa snapped out of a 10 match winless streak of form over the weekend.

That happened with a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace, but they will have been dismayed at seeing the teams immediately above them all take wins as well.

It leaves Villa as 1/7 odds-on in Premier League relegation betting odds* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 03:54MT on Tuesday, July 14th 2020).

Two of Villa’s remaining three games are out on the road as well, which could potentially work against them.

Aston Villa are only W2 D3 L12 out on their top flight travels this season, their last road success happening on New Year’s day at Burnley.

Aston Villa’s remaining fixtures

Everton v ASTON VILLA
ASTON VILLA v Arsenal
WEST HAM v ASTON VILLA

Watford breathing easier

The Hornets looked to be falling into great trouble on a three match losing streak. But back to back success, making the most of home advantage at Vicarage Road has left them in a stronger position.

They took down Norwich 2-1 before following up with a pressure-relieving win by the same scoreline over Newcastle on the weekend.

Watford are not home and dry yet, but a three-point cushion is ever-so valuable with just three games to go.

That having been said, after meeting in a huge survival clash with West Ham, Watford have two difficult games to finish with against Man City and Arsenal.

West Ham fighting back

It has been a W2 D1 L1 record from West Ham in their last four games played.

They are just scrapping along having taken wins over Chelsea and Norwich, while picking up a point against Newcastle in that sequence.

The next game could be something of a defining match for them. They will go up against Watford who are right there on the same points as the Irons are, just above the drop zone.

That is going to be such a huge pressure game for both of those. Their final game of the season could be the same as they have to fight with Aston Villa who are also fighting the drop.

West Ham’s remaining fixtures

WEST HAM v Watford
Man Utd v WEST HAM
WEST HAM v Aston Villa

Premier League Relegation Betting odds prediction

Who joins Norwich back down in the Championship next season? Well for starters we have to roll with the odds-on pick of Aston Villa with two of their remaining three games away from home.

Watford look in big danger of perhaps ending up needing a favour from someone to stay up.

If things don’t go to plan in their next game against West Ham, they have the worst two final games of the relegation threatened clubs to deal with. So the current 4/1 odds on them in Premier League relegation betting may well be where the big value pick is for punters right now* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 03:54MT on Tuesday, July 14th 2020)

West Ham should be lifted from recent positive results to handle home games against Watford and Aston Villa, even if it’s avoiding defeat and keeping those off of their backs.

So to Bournemouth. Can they get out of their hole? Their next game against Man City could easily be a wash, leaving them with pressure in their final two.

The Cherries have a south coast derby against Southampton in their final home game before going to mid-table Everton. The away form of Bournemouth though could well be the thing that sinks them.

We see things staying the same therefore, Villa and Bournemouth to go down, Watford to scrape by.
