Preston North End v Leeds United Predictions & Betting Odds – 22nd October 2019

Leeds to seal narrow win at Deepdale

Preston North End v Leeds United Betting Tips – EFL Championship, 22nd October 19.45pm

Alex Neil’s Preston North End and Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United lock horns at Deepdale in the standout EFL Championship fixture on Tuesday night. The Lilywhites have the best home record in the league, dropping just two points from six games on their own patch. Meanwhile, only league leaders West Bromwich Albion have a better away record than United. This should be a cracker in Lancashire, but who will come out on top?

Preston North End News and Form – Can the Lilywhites extend unbeaten home run?

Alex Neil’s Preston North End have been excellent at Deepdale this season, winning five and drawing one of six in the Championship. Only Premier League champions Manchester City – in a Carabao Cup game – have won on Preston’s patch this term. North End have seen off Wigan Athletic, Stoke City, Sheffield Wednesday, Brentford and Barnsley at Deepdale in the league.

Before the international break, goals from Daniel Johnson (2), Tom Barkhuizen, Ben Pearson and Josh Harrop gave the Lilywhites a thumping 5-1 home win over Barnsley. However, Neil’s boys were beaten 1-0 by Reading at the Madejski Stadium last time out, with the Royals’ winner coming in the 98th minute.

Leeds United News and Form – A first away win in three for Bielsa’s boys?

Leeds United have not quite been at their best of late, with three of their past seven in the Championship ending in defeat. However, the Whites responded well from their 2-1 loss at The Den, beating Birmingham City 1-0 at Elland Road last weekend, with Kalvin Phillips scoring the all-important winner.

Leeds have lost their last two on the road. Before losing at Millwall, Marcelo Bielsa’s team were beaten 1-0 by Lee Bowyer’s Charlton Athletic at The Valley. Prior to that, though, Leeds had won their opening five league and cup away matches.

Despite being in patchy form of late, Leeds are still the bookies’ favourites to win the Championship title. United could go back to the top if results go their way in midweek. After losing two on the spin away from home, can the Yorkshire side get back to winning ways on the road this Tuesday?

Preston North End v Leeds United Predictions

Leeds United win: Preston have not lost at home in league action since losing 2-0 to Leeds back in April. However, the Whites are a strong outfit under Bielsa, and I’m backing United to take maximum points from this one. It could be close on the scoreline, though, so take a punt on the visitors to win 1-0 at 7/1.

Patrick Bamford was on the scoresheet twice in that 2-0 Leeds victory six months ago, and the 26-year-old will be keen on adding to his four Championship goal tally on Tuesday. Bamford is the 4/1 favourite to open the scoring at Deepdale.
