But could it be the Terriers instead the next ones to make a managerial move?

With Jose Mourinho having been given the push by Manchester United on Tuesday, where does that leave the EPL Next Manager To Leave market? After another disappointing display last weekend in a 3-1 defeat at Anfield against Liverpool, Mourinho had been heavily backed as the favourite to be the next top flight boss out of a job.

He was.

So who is next in the firing line?

With Southampton and Fulham, two of the current bottom four in the Premier League already having made managerial changes, it is actually Leicester’s Claude Puel who is the 2/1 favourite in the next EPL Manager to go market* (betting odds taken from BetVictor on December 18th, 2018 at 11:26 pm).

The Foxes look as if they are going to comfortably avoid relegation, but with just two wins in their last ten top-flight games, it hasn’t been the greatest of seasons for the Foxes. But they do have the element of looking somewhat stable compared to others beneath them in the table currently.

Dyche and Wagner woes

Burnley’s Sean Dyche has been having more than a testing time of things this season, with the Clarets stuck in the relegation zone and boasting the second-worst defensive record of this season. It is a long way from the kind of form which they showed last season in locking down a European place. But it does look as if the club trust him enough to keep him around.

Huddersfield David Wagner is perhaps in a spot more bother. The Terriers have been having some real woes this season, including only having scored three goals in nine home fixtures. Huddersfield are only second from bottom in the table and have a lot of work to do in trying to get some form and momentum going. He looks a little more vulnerable than Dyche in our opinion.

Benitez and Warnock safe

Newcastle aren’t having the greatest of seasons but it is unlikely that they are going to find anyone better than Rafa Benitez, so they are likely to stick with him. Cardiff’s Neil Warnock looks well bedded-in at the club, and as long as the Bluebirds continue to pick up those survival points on home soil, Cardiff aren’t going to disrupt things.

Then there is Crystal Palace’s Roy Hodgson. He was their saviour and with the ups and downs they have had this season, he may end up having to come up with an escape plan. The home form isn’t there from the Eagles like it was last season when Hodgson took over leaving them vulnerable.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino’s odds have been cut to 12/1* (betting odds taken from BetVictor on December 18th, 2018 at 11:26 pm).

That is because he was immediately linked with the vacant Manchester United job. But with the Red Devils having installed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as temporary manager until the end of the season, it’s unlikely that Pochettino would be going anywhere until the summer. He has been linked heavily with a move to Real Madrid as well.

Prediction

Of the names now finding themselves under a little more pressure with Mourinho having been fired, for us, it has to be David Wagner at Huddersfield. He has done a fantastic job with the Terriers but their home form is a tremendous concern for them. The Terriers could well be the ones to make the next managerial move.
