Horse Racing Betting

Despite the recent deluges, Doncaster is hoping to offer better ground than most jumps meetings in the next few days and five of the six races on Wednesday have attracted double-figure entries.

There are some familiar figures running in the Betsafe Top Price All Runners Veteran’s Handicap Chase but more unexposed types elsewhere including one in the Betsafe Extra Place Race Handicap Hurdle, a qualifier for the Challenger Stayers Hurdle Series Final.

O’Farrell booking looks significant for Rath

Conor O’Farrell has ridden Toi Storey (a best 13/2) in all of his races to date but deserts the Catterick winner here in favour of Rath An Iuir.
Trained in Northumbria by Rose Dobbin, the latter has only had two runs under Rules and was most impressive at Newcastle on his latest start. he quickly pulled clear of previous winner Orrisdale and the strongly-fancied Duc De Grissay, who was rated 120 at the time. The seven-year-old could be well handicapped on a mark of 121 considering a first try over 3m over hurdles is certain to see him an even better light.

Handicapper taking no chances with Chief

Kansas City Chief has gone up a further 4lb since his second at Huntingdon which followed on from a victory at Taunton when 7lb lower.
Neil Mulholland’s top weight (10/3 with William Hill) is not getting any younger so may struggle to overcome the extra. Another veteran, Bryden Boy, is also still creeping up the ratings despite only managing third last time at Newcastle. He does, however, appear to have the beating of Nick Alexander’s mare Off The Hook on that run – the latter may do better when the ground dries out.

Arrow seeking to hit target after surgery

Having undergone a wind operation, River Arrow (7/1 with Unibet) will be looking to improve on a modest strike-rate.
She has won just the once and never in a handicap but limited evidence suggests she stays 3m and she has been relatively lightly raced.

Shah has scope over longer distance

Shah and Shah was third on his handicap debut and has been crying out for a step up in trip.
Charlie Longsdon’s novice gets it here and, with Aidan Coleman doing the steering, it would be no surprise to see a big step forward.
The bottom weight can be backed at 9/1 with William Hill.
