Real Madrid v Deportivo Betting Preview – La Liga 21st January 3.15pm

There was another huge setback for Real Madrid last weekend as they slumped to a home defeat to Villarreal. That leaves them with only the one point from their last three league games and they are looking out of sorts and a bit low on confidence. They have a chance at three points on the weekend though as they face up to Deportivo who are struggling along in the relegation zone heading into the weekend.

Real Madrid v Deportivo Betting Tips

Real Madrid got themselves into a spot of bother again last weekend as they suffered a 1-0 defeat at home against Villarreal. That means they have only gone D1 L2 in their last three league games and the two defeats in that sequence were at home, Madrid failing to score in either of them. So their home form overall this season in La Liga reads W5 D2 L3 for the season and surprisingly that is three times in their ten home games this season they have failed to score. You expect more than that from them. They have tallied the 19 home goals this season, which is solid enough at just under an average of two per game while they have conceded at a rate of a goal per game. They have four clean sheets on home soil and as they are taking on a side struggling near the foot of the table then Real Madrid to win to nil at 11/10 odds at William Hill should appeal* (Betting Odds taken on January 17th, 2018 at 6:58 p.m.). They certainly need a pick-me-up.

Real Madrid have only managed one victory in their last five games in La Liga and they have scored in just two of those. So their quality levels are just a bit down at the moment and tales of unrest are creeping out with rumours that Cristiano Ronaldo wants a move away from the Bernabeu. He is the outright favourite in the first goalscorer market for the game. Real Madrid collected a comfortable 3-0 away win over Deportivo earlier this season and they are on a positive nine-match winning streak in La Liga against them. So that means that they should be in good shape for this one and they have scored at least three goals in each of their last three against them, and at least two in each of their nine. So there’s a decent chance that they will be comfortable and Real Madrid to win by a two-goal margin with William Hill carries some appeal.

Deportivo are in a bit of a fight in the relegation zone at the moment as they head into the weekend in this difficult game. They have managed just a D1 L3 record in their last four top-flight games and recently they went to Barcelona and were brushed aside in a 4-0 defeat and that could be some kind of good indicator for this one. They have tasted just the one victory on the road this season as part of a W1 D3 L5 road record. Their current form is nothing to write home about away from home, having collected just the one point from the last twelve on their travels. They have big problems at the back without question, particularly away from home as they have conceded at a rate of over two goals per game in fact and that is likely to leave them in big trouble here. Going forward they have returned the ten goals this season and they may not carry enough of an attacking threat to cover up what their defence is likely to ship in this one at the Bernabeu.

Real Madrid v Deportivo Predictions

Deportivo haven’t been solid enough at the back to really get in the mix in this one. Real Madrid’s recent home failures have been against a very good side who know how to defend. So Real Madrid will likely get some chances on the board to collect a confidence-boosting three points.
