Vladan Milojevic’s Red Star Belgrade have taken three points from a possible nine in Champions League Group B so far. The team from the Serbian capital started with a 3-0 loss to Bayern Munich in Germany. However, they responded expertly well by beating Olympiacos at the Red Star Stadium in round two.

Unfortunately for Red Star, they were thumped by Tottenham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium two weeks back, crashing to a heavy 5-0 defeat in London.

 

 

Apart from that defeat in the English capital, Belgrade have been in exceptional form of late. Red Star have won nine of their last ten in all competitions. Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur head to the Serbian capital having won only one of their last six in league and cup, with three of those ending in defeat. Spurs, who sit in a lowly 11th place in the Premier League table at present, have failed to win any of their past four in league action.

Spurs picked up just one point from their opening two Champions League group matches. After letting a 2-0 lead slip to draw 2-2 with Olympiacos in Piraeus in round one, Tottenham were embarrassed by Munich at home in their second game, falling to a huge 7-2 defeat.

However, last month’s 5-0 win over Red Star certainly restored some pride. The Lilywhites have been nowhere near their best in recent months, but three points in midweek will take them a step closer to the Round of 16 of the Champions League.
