Rest of Europe Tips & Odds – 9th December 2018

Most of the top sides in Europe are in action on Saturday and that is because of the Champions League games coming up in midweek. But that doesn’t mean that there aren’t some good fixtures to get stuck into on Sunday from Europe’s top league.

Here we take a look at the tips and predictions for the rest of Europe on Sunday, December 9th, 2018. Kick off times vary.

Mainz v Hannover – 2.30 pm

Mainz have won three of their last four league outings in the Bundesliga now. Their only failure to win during that sequence was against leaders Dortmund, losing 2-1. Their home form for the season is W3 D2 L2 and they have come up with just the one success in their last four. They get a chance on the weekend to try and improve their home record. That is because they meet Hannover who are stuck in the bottom two. Hannover have lost four of their last five games (W1) and their away form won’t install a lot of confidence in punters. ThHey are W0 D2 L5 on their travels this season. Despite that, they have scored in all but one of their away games.

This may end up being a tight game. We are siding with Mainz on home soil as Hannover have conceded almost three goals away from home. But Mainz to win & both teams to score is our pick at 11/4 odds* (betting odds taken on December 7th, 2018 at 10:59 pm)

Borussia Moenchengladbach v Stuttgart – 5.00 pm

Moenchengladbach have won all six of their league home games this season in an impressive turn of form. They have scored 18 goals and have conceded just three in that sequence of six games. So is this as straightforward as a home win? Stuttgart are having problems at the wrong end of the table, but they have won two of their last three league games (with clean sheets) so there has been an improvement. Granted they are only W1 D1 L5 on their travels. They have lost four of their last five away from home (W1) and basically yes, it may be as straightforward as a home win. Stuttgart have only scored six road goals.

The home win looks obvious here, but to stretch to extra value Moenchengladbach to win to nil gets it at 7/4 odds* (betting odds taken on December 7th, 2018 at 10:59 pm)

Lille v Reims – 4.00 pm

There have been a lot of postponements in France this weekend, but this Sunday fixture gets the go ahead. Lille start the weekend in second place and they earned an important 1-0 win on the road last weekend against third-placed Montpellier. That was a pretty strong show of strength from them especially after going D2 L2 in their previous four. Lille are unbeaten at home with a W6 D2 record this season. Reims are in mid-table and actually aren’t doing badly with just two losses in their last nine. But there has only been the one win from them in their last seven road games. With just five goals in eight away games, it’s not the kind of scoring form to threaten a top side.

Lille’s win at Montpellier was super last weekend and they have to be backed to follow it up. A nice 4/5 odds on a home win here fits nicely* (betting odds taken on December 7th, 2018 at 10:59 pm)

AC Milan v Torino – 7.30 pm

AC Milan edged Parma in their last league outing. It leaves them in fourth and they have collected four wins in their last six league outings (D1 L1). Their form at the San Siro this season in the Italian top flight is W5 D1 L1 and their only loss has been against Juventus. So it’s been good stuff from them. The one downfall is they haven’t taken a home clean sheet yet this term. Torino have quietly done well this season and they are in eighth. Torino have only lost one of their last eight league fixtures and they are unbeaten in their seven road games (W2 D5). They have been to the San Siro already this season and played out a 2-2 draw against Inter.

We see enough in Torino to warrant backing them to avoid defeat in this one. They are prime for a +0.5 Asian Handicap at 11/10* (betting odds taken on December 7th, 2018 at 10:59 pm)

Huesca v Real Madrid 3.15 pm

What’s been going on with Real Madrid lately then? They have won three of their last four in the Spanish top flight (L1). They recovered from a shock loss at Eibar with a win over Valencia last weekend. Their away form though is just W2 D1 L4 on the road this season in La Liga. Still, with those recent wins, Real Madrid are within five points of leaders Barcelona so things are looking much better for them. They will be expected to win this against the bottom side in the league. Huesca have a W1 D4 L9 record this season in La Liga so really aren’t likely to pose a great threat. They have lost away at each of the current top four already, conceding fifteen goals in those four games. They did score in three of them though.

Real Madrid to win & both teams to score warrants a look at 7/5 odds* (betting odds taken on December 7th, 2018 at 10:59 pm)
