Romania v Switzerland Euro 2016

Romania v Switzerland Betting Preview – Euro 2016, 15th June

Switzerland struggled to bank a 1-0 win over ten-man Albania in their opening Group A fixture. A win is a win in tournament football, but they didn’t exactly look overly convincing. Romania so nearly landed themselves a huge point in the tournament’s curtain raiser against France, only coming unstuck right at the end because of a wonder striker by Dimitri Payet. But with so many positives to take from the performance and a great defence, they could still give themselves a big qualification lifeline here.

Romania v Switzerland Betting Tips

This should really be an interesting match up. A lot of the success that Romania had in Euro 2016 qualifying was down to their defence, heading to the finals with the best defensive record of all teams entering. That could be a hugely important factor for when they take on Switzerland, who lacked a lot of cohesiveness in their opening victory over Albania. Romania suffered a 2-1 loss against France in their opening game, but for a long period looked like they would deservedly get a point out of the game against the tournament hosts. Romania pushed hard, showed more adventure than many had expected them to do and gave the French a really good game. So there was a lot of positives to take away from that game, even in defeat. This game is likely to go under 2.5 goals because neither really boast a powerful attack. Under 2.56 goals is a quote of 8/15 on the match.

You have the added factor that Romania have to press for a win after having opened with a defeat. If they don’t then they may simply drift away from the competition. Romania have Florin Andone at 5/2 in the anytime goalscorer market and he looked pretty good up top against the French, industrious and quick. They will likely get more time on the ball against Switzerland than they did against France, so can they do anything with it? This will be only the third meeting between Romania and Switzerland and that brief history reports one win each, so you can’t take anything away from that really. They met most recently back in 2012, a game which Romania took a victory in by a 1-0 scoreline. A Romania 1-0 correct score bet will fetch you a quote of 7/1 for the game.

The Swiss weren’t overly convincing in getting past Albania in their tournament opener. They had a big chance to drive home some goal difference in facing a side which had gone down to ten men, but Albania actually created the better chances. So the Swiss were a little lucky to bag all three points but it does give them a little breathing space. But with their final game against France to come they will probably want to make sure in this one. Switzerland have gone W3 L3 in their last six so hard to know what to get from them. Haris Seferovic is a touch of class up top for them and can be backed at a price of 2/1 in the anytime goalscorer market for the game. Their defence looked wide open against Albania though which is a huge concern and surprising considering they took five clean sheets during qualifying. Both teams to score in this one is trading at a price of even money.

Romania v Switzerland Predictions

Not sure either have enough about them to actually go out and put their foot on the gas to win this one. The Romanians looked the better of the two though in their defeat against France and should be able to avoid defeat in this one. Maybe Switzerland were thrown off by facing ten men, but they didn’t look great. Look for the draw.
