Royal Ascot Betting 2017 Winner Odds & Predictions

Horse Racing Betting

It is Royal Ascot week and that means the most famous race meeting in the world will be attracting the rich and famous to Berkshire once again, and alluring seasoned and casual punters alike. This is the Queen’s favourite week of the year and she will be holding court during Ascot because of the Queen’s Speech on Wednesday, during what has been difficult times for the country with the recent terror attack and the Grenfell Tower Fire as well. The Queen has also enjoyed a winner at Ascot too with Estimate taking the 2013 Gold Cup and will have runners out in her silks this year again.

Here we feature some of the top races from the Festival…

Jersey Stakes
This is a field of three-year-olds and therefore the Festival will kick off in exciting fashion. This will be the 98th renewal of the Jersey Stakes which goes over eight, gut-busting furlongs. This is a great race and Dream Castle goes for Godolphin as the stables look for their third win on the bounce following recent wins for Ribchester and Dutch Connection. Dream Castle landed fifth in the 2000 Guineas and has a good chance here. Filly Daban should be able to mix it up with the boys and landed a win in the Nell Gwyn Stakes and came third in the 1000 Guineas. Taamol has good credentials as well and is a very good price as well as Second Thought.
Le Brivido 3/1, Dream Castle 7/2, Daban 11/2, Whitecliffsofdover 10/1, Second Thought 14/1, Winnings Ways 16/1, Taamol 16/1, Chessman 16/1, bar 20/1.
Tip: Dream Castle

Prince of Wales Stakes
A big ten-furlong battle will go down in the Prince Of Wales and heading up the field is Highland Reel who won the Coronation Cup at Epsom. However, he was beaten heavily by Jack Hobbs in Dubai and that makes this one a tough tip to call. Ulysses landed a fantastic win over Deauville and My Dream Boat in the Gordon Richard’s Stakes back in April. Jack Hobbs was in fantastic form in Dubai during the off-season and he has to be in contention here.
Highland Reel 5/2, Jack Hobbs 11/4, Ulysses 10/3, Decorated Knight 8/1, Mekhtaal 10/1, Queens trust 12/1, bar 25/1
Tip: Jack Hobbs

Ascot Gold Cup
One of the biggest races of the Festival and this will be a test for the best stayers in flat racing. This race has over two hundred years of history behind it and will be a great feature for Thursday’s horse racing betting. Order Of St George is back to defend his title after a comfortable three-length victory last year. He didn’t really follow up on that over shorter trips, but will be value back for this one. Sheikh Zayed Road was a massive 40/1 shot in last year’s renewal but pulled out a huge effort to come through for third and with wins over Quest For More at the Doncaster Cup and a Champions Day victory over Order Of St George, he will have appeal despite being the oldest horse in the race. Simple Verse has impressed in a couple of outings this season and she looks decent value to have a shot at the title. Big Orange has had a great off-season around the world and landed an easy victory in the Henry II Stakes on his last visit to Britain and landed fourth in the Dubai Gold Cup. Sweet Selection’s rating is on the up thanks to her big wins at Newmarket and Ascot and isn’t unappealing at 14/1 which is just about there for each-way appeal.
Order Of St George 4/5, Big Orange 7/1, Simple Verse 9/1, Sheikh Zayed Road 9/1, Sweet Selection 14/1, Torcedor 14/1, Quest For More 16/1, Kingfisher 19/1, Endless Time 20/1, Harbour Law 20/1, bar 25/1
Tip: Sweet Selection Each Way

Ribblesdale Stakes
This battle between the best three-year-old filly stayers out there and with The Oaks the major Group 1 race in this category, you will see a lot of the runners from Epsom going at it again in this one. At Epsom, Enable and Rhododendron were miles ahead of the competition, but you have to look behind them to see the price of 3/1 at William Hill on Alluringly who stayed very well for third. She was beaten again by Enable at the Cheshire Oaks but should be in contention here. Coronet can run her way into contention if she can settle early in the field, while Mori, who claimed a maiden Listed title at Goodwood recently stayed so well in that race and the daughter of Frankel has masses of appeal here.
Alluringly 3/1, Mori 10/3, Coronet 6/1, Hertford Dancer 9/1, Naughty Or Nice 12/1, Astronomy’s Choice 12/1, Vintage Folly 16/1, Gracious Diana 16/1, Rich Legacy 16/1, Serenada 20/1, The Sky Is Blazing 25/1, bar 33/1
Tip: Mori

Friday, June 23rd

King Edward VII Stakes
What a day of racing Friday will bring. The top three year old colts will scrap it out in this one and you will see familiar faces from the 2000 Guineas and the Epsom Derby turning up in this Royal battle. This should be a great scrap and Sir Michael Stoute’s Crystal Ocean is heading up the market after skipping the Derby because the stables thought that he wasn’t mature enough and despite a hefty price finished third at the Dante. Sir John Lavery was a Derby market leader and despite tanking in a Derby Trial at Lingfield, Aidan O’Brien’s charge can’t be written off here. Permian, the winner of the Dante is going to be in contention here but punters will worry about his lack of staying power shown in the Derby after a late entry at Epsom. Best of Days has had a long layoff and can’t be trusted at the distance while Best Solution, another Epsom struggler like Permian won that Lingfield Derby Trial in emphatic fashion and could impress in this field.
Crystal Ocean 3/1, Sir John Lavery 6/1, Permian 8/1, Best of Days 10/1, Saloeun 10/1, Halkidiki 12/1, Best Solution 12/1, Exemplar 12/1, bar 20/1
Tip: Best Solution Each Way

Commonwealth Cup
This will be just the third running of the Commonwealth Cup, a short sprint over six furlongs and punters at William Hill have been leaning heavily on Aidan O’Brien’s Caravaggio, arguably the best three year old in his yard. Goes off unbeaten over five career starts and while he hasn’t been tested really so far, he can step up here and perform. Harry’s Angel was beaten in the Pavilion Stakes by Godolphin stablemate Blue Point over this distance but does have the talent and speed if he can put it together on the day. Bound For Nowhere is a good double figure price here and if the ground is right, he can get his nose in the picture after winning both starts this season highly impressively.
Caravaggio even money, Harry’s Angel 7/2, Blue Point 4/1, Bound For Nowhere 10/1, Fas 16/1, Queen Kindly 20/1, Tis Marvellous 25/, bar 33/1
Tip: Caravaggio

Coronation Stakes
This one miler is a popular feature of the penultimate day of the Royal Ascot Festival and there is a clear favourite here. That is Winter who upset the heavy favourite Rhododendron in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket for the Ballydoyle stables. It was an excellent run from her and she won the 1000 Irish Guineas as well comfortably, proving with the Curragh result, her win at Newmarket was no fluke. It’s hard to see the storm the field catching up to her, and Daban who was third at Newmarket is a great each price at William Hill for this one.
Winter 4/7, Dabah 7/1, Precieuse 7/1, Sea of Grace 16/1, Tomyris 16/1, la Coronel 16/1, Daban 16/1, Hydrangea 16/1, Intricately 20/1, bar 25/1
Tip: Winter

Queen’s Vase
This is one of those races that top trainer Aidan O’Brien has enjoyed in the last decade. He has five of the last ten winners here but rival Mark Johnston as the favourite for this one, namely Time To Study. He has an advantage of having won over this trip before when he carried top weight to a win at Musselburgh. Venice Beach claimed the Chester Vase but really disappointed at Epsom, while Finn McCool skipped the meeting so would at least be coming in fresh for this one. Iron Mountain has won this season, out in Curragh for Aiden O’Brien and has been pretty well backed given the trainer’s history in this one. Count Octave was fifth behind Venice Beach at the Chester Vase. Defoe was impressive in a Newbury handicap win, but will be stepping up a level in this one.
Time To Study 6/1, Venice Beach 8/1, Iron Moutain 10/1, Belgravia 12/1, Count Octave 12/1, Defoe 14/1, Desert Skyline 14/1, Wisconsin 14/1, Finn McCool 16/1, Mister Manduro 20/1, Fierce Impact 20/1, bar 25/1
Tip: Time To Study

Diamond Jubilee
This is the eighth and final Group 1 race at the Royal Ascot Festival and this has been running since back in 1868. This is a flat out sprint over six furlongs and with recent winners such as Black Caviar, Society Rock and Slade Power, the winner is going to join some illustrious company on Saturday. Limato has been leading the way at William Hill for Henry Candy’s stable although he suffered back to back disappointments at the end of last season. Took a pass on Ascot last season, and was disappointing in the Breeders’ Cup and the Dubai World Cup Festivals. Worth a pass maybe. The Tin Man took fifth in the Duke Of York, despite a heavy weight and was bang in form at the back end of last season, which included a win over Growl on Champions Day. Tasleet won the Duke Of York Stages last year and has five wins from ten career races and has only been outside of the top two in one of his last nine. Librisa Breeze has the winning form at Ascot and won the Heritage Handicap last year, but hasn’t been great against Group 1 company. Brando was a favourite for the Duke Of York Stakes twelve months ago but came in last, so punters will be wary. The Right Man won the Al Quoz sprint at the Dubai World Cup Festival during the off-season and will be making his British debut with potential in this one, particularly if the ground is soft. With three wins in four high profile starts, he is big each way value.
Limato 7/2, The Tin Man 5/1, Magical Memory 7/1, Tasleet 8/1, Librisa Breeze 14/1, Brando 14/1, The Right Man 16/1, Dancing Star 20/1, Jungle Cat 2/1, Suedois 20/1, Growl 20/1, bar 25/1
Tip: Tasleet
