Wales to make no mistake against Georgia

Rugby World Cup Preview – 11.15 am kick off

Wales open their World Cup 2019 account on Monday when they face up to Georgia in Toyota City. They will be led out by Alun Wyn Jones who will become the joint most-capped Welsh player in the fixture. It should be a routine victory for the Dragons as they look to hit the ground running.

Wales v Georgia Preview

There are going to be far stiffer tests at the World Cup 2109 for Wales than this one. It is going to be a good run out for them nonetheless. This is almost going to be a continuation of warm up action for the Dragons because it should be routine for them. That hasn’t stopped head coach Warren Gatland actually sending out his strongest fifteen for this opener though. Part of that is to make sure there are no slip ups in forwards. If Wales just stay in control up front then this should be a breeze for them.

This will be the second time that Wales are facing Georgia. Their one previous encounter was back in 2017 for a friendly. The Dragons took a 13-6 victory. Georgia faced Scotland twice in their World Cup warm ups and lost both games and there wasn’t much on offer for them. They are a tier two nation, one of the better ones to be fair to them. They finished third at the last World Cup which gave them automatic qualification for this one. That will be their target this time around as well. While the strength of the Georgians is up front, they have a young back line which will probably look to be adventurous when they do get the ball.

Wales v Georgia Prediction

There are far weaker tier 2 teams around than Georgia. But Georgia were really disappointing against Scotland during their warm ups. They will probably look to keep the ball in the forwards as much as possible, especially earn on. But Wales will be able to open them up the more the game wears on.
