Sandown 16.00 Betting Tips February 14 – Alminar a decent bet at 15/2 with Paddy Power

All in with Alminar

Horse Racing Betting

Sandown will have to pass an early inspection on Friday morning but it would be a shame to lose a competitive card which includes the historic Castel Royal Artillery Cup for amateur riders with a military background.
The 16.00 Alanbrooke Handicap is also run over 3m on the chase course and looks an open affair in which it should be easy to find a bit of betting value.

Christmas looking to get back on track

Christmas In April is proving better over fences than over hurdles but couldn’t complete the hat-trick at Plumpton last time raised 6lb. In this more competitive affair, he could come up short again and is only a best 7/2.

Will course experience stand Le Boizelo in good stead?

Having won four times from 25 starts over hurdles and fences, Le Boizelo has a better strike-rate than most jumpers.
One of those victories came over the course and distance of today’s race earlier this season and Robert Walford’s nine-year-old hasn’t done much wrong since so backers should get a run for their money at the 6/1 with Bet365.

Penny has dropped with lightly-weighted Alminar

Nigel Hawke’s Devon stable has yet to send out a winner this month but the progressive Alminar could end the drought.
On the form book, he probably has a bit to find with veteran Horatio Hornblower but he left previous form behind when pulling clear at Chepstow on his latest outing.
Only a seven-year-old, David Noonan’s mount could be more progressive than his rivals.

Venture seeks to take advantage of a drop in grade

Another Venture is one of only two previous course winners in this line-up and he has been lightly campaigned this season.
Both of his races have been against better opposition and he was prominent throughout when sixth at Cheltenham having found only one too good at Chepstow on his reappearance.
The handicapper has been very slow to release his grip but Kim Bailey’s charge certainly merits consideration at around 8/1.

Legend aiming to bounce back from Haydock woes

Potters Legend broke a blood vessel when pulled up at Haydock at the end of December so that run can be ignored.
A staying-on third at Cheltenham in November, Lucy Wadham’s charge has been given a few weeks off and isn’t badly handicapped on past form so it will be interesting if there are any takers for the best 15/2.

Sandown 16.00 Predictions

Off bottom weight and open to more progression than most, ALMINAR (a best 13/2) could add to his Chepstow gains despite a slight step up in class.
The handicapper may have Le Boizelo and Christmas In April just where he wants them so Another Venture and Potters Legend could offer more value at the odds.
