Mithras looks for the hattrick

MITHRAS opened his account at the third time of asking last year. That opening victory came on the all-weather.

On his reappearance, he was thrown in a strong contest, a Newbury handicap at 7f. He certainly made his presence felt there, getting the score by a neck.

The extra bit of trip could help him out in this one and definitely rates a threat for John Gosden. He is going to have more on his plate to deal with.

But at the same time, he looks as if he could transition well to the higher grade.

Bullace underrated for the contest?

IMPERIAL DAY was thrown into a Newmarket Group 3 contest on his latest run. That was well beyond him at the end of the day but could have been a valuable experience for connections.

So the credentials are there, although this looks like a tough ask of him. That lack of ability in his Group 3 effort perhaps is the clearest indicator.

He gets the blinkers on for the first time, but it’s asking a lot for that along to bring the improvement that he needs.

There hasn’t been too much progress from him since scoring on his debut at Kempton in January. Others appeal a lot more.
