Scottish Premiership Tips & Odds – 8th December 2018

After their League Cup success last weekend over Aberdeen, Celtic will resume league duties in the Scottish Premiership with a little catching up to do. It is Kilmarnock who will be looking to defend top spot as they are the ones who make the trip to Celtic Park. So that’s a top clash to look forward too.

Here are our Scottish Premiership tips and predictions for December 8th, 2018 and all are 3.00 pm kick offs

Aberdeen v St Johnstone

The Dons suffered another cup loss to Celtic last weekend. It is back to league duty where they are trying to play catch up as they are seven points off the top (but with two games in hand). The Dons have won four of last five games and they are carrying a four-match winning streak at Pittodrie where they have a W1 D1 L1 record this season. The Saints are one point and one place above the Dons so a lot is at stake here. St Johnstone are on a superb seven-match unbeaten streak of form in the top flight, winning five of those. They are on a three-match winning streak on their travels, all three of those being 1-0 success.

This should be a tight game and we have seen enough from the Saints to back them to get out of this one with a point. A draw at 13/5 may just return the best value* (betting odds taken on December 7th, 2018 at 8:20 pm)

Celtic v Kilmarnock

Fresh off their League Cup success Celtic will be looking to pick up their league form. They have only gone W1 D2, but those two misses were out on the road. Celtic are six wins from six on home soil this season in the Premiership, scoring fifteen goals and conceding just the three. This is such a big game for Kilmarnock as they look to hold on to top spot. With just the one point advantage and with Celtic having two games in hand over them, they know the reality of the situation. A win, of course, would keep things pretty interesting at the top.

Celtic don’t give up too much on home soil at all and they should be able to seal this with a clean sheet. Celtic to win to nil at 4/6* (betting odds taken on December 7th, 2018 at 8:20 pm)

Hamilton v Hibs

Hamilton are sat down third from bottom in the Premiership and need a bit of boost. They will be hoping to make the most of home advantage in this one. Hamilton are only W2 L5 at home this season from their seven games, coming up with an average of a goal per game in that sequence. Hibs are only the two places above them but have a seven-point advantage and a game in hand over Hamilton. Hibs though have been struggling for form. They have failed to win any of their last seven games now (D3 L4) in the Scottish top flight and have lost three of their last four on the road.

It is slightly debatable as to whether either of them are going to have enough to pull out a win. A double chance on a Hamilton – Draw at 13/10 because of home advantage doesn’t look a bad proposition* (betting odds taken on December 7th, 2018 at 8:20 pm)

Hearts v Motherwell

Hearts are searching for a way to end a long winless streak of form in the top flight. They have now failed to win in six (D2 L4) and their defence has been a bit of a shambles. They have shipped a total of twelve goals in their last six and their home form has taken a dive too. They are winless in three on home soil, losing their last two (both by a one-goal margin). Motherwell churned out a great 1-1 draw against Celtic in midweek. That was a huge positive and they beat Aberdeen recently too. Their away form isn’t there though with back to back defeats on the road.

The Well haven’t quite done enough on the road for us. For that reason we are going to stick on the straight home win for Hearts are 3/4 odds* (betting odds taken on December 7th, 2018 at 8:20 pm)

Livingston v St Mirren

Livingston have had a good season on home soil in the Premiership with a W5 D2 L1 record on the board. They took a home draw in the middle of November against Celtic which just highlights their home strengths. They have shipped just the two goals in their eight home games so far. So St Mirren are going to have their work cut out in trying to bring them down. St Mirren haven’t won on their travels this season, taking just two points from seven road games. They have averaged well under a goal per game away from home, but have conceded an average of 2.5 goals in their away games.

It is a simple home win in this one as well as we have to side with Livingston to continue their home strengths. There is enough to push for Livingston to win to nil at 6/4* (betting odds taken on December 7th, 2018 at 8:20 pm)
