Sheffield United News and Form – Can the Blades beat Southampton?

It is a W1 D2 L1 record that the Blades have come up with this season in the top flight. That’s a good return for a newly promoted team. The one loss that they did suffer was at home against Leicester, United going down 2- 1 in that defeat. The Blades have hit the back of the net in all of their league games this season which is an excellent positive for them. Just before the international break, they battled their way back from 2-0 down at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea to grab a draw.

All four of Sheffield United’s goals this season in the league have come from different players (plus one own goal). All five league goals that Sheffield United have produced this season has been in the second half of fixtures. They are not just grinding they are looking to thrive in attack with a bold game plan and they look as if they are going to trouble a lot of visitors to Bramall Lane. United have conceded the opening goal in all but one of their last four games. They have lost at the half time break in two of their four.

Southampton News and Form – Can the Saints get three points at Bramall Lane?

After a poor start, losing their opening two games of the new season, Southampton are on a path to recovery. They took a win against Brighton and then played out a draw against Manchester United to move up to four points. They didn’t have much shape about them in their opening two games (defeats against Burnley and Liverpool) but it started to come back together for them against Brighton. They looked more like the Southampton that played so well to avoid relegation last season.

So with a bit of positive form behind them, they will be confident for their long trip up north. At least of avoiding defeat at Bramall Lane. Southampton will be missing defender Kevin Danso who saw red against Manchester United. They also have other key players missing in Nathan Redmond and Ryan Bertrand. Southampton were on a four-match winless streak of form away from home in the Premier League (D1 L3) before picking up their win at Brighton. The Saints have, however, conceded exactly three goals in three of their last five out on the road. Will their defence come under big pressure from the Blades?

Sheffield United v Southampton Predictions

Sheffield United to win: The Blades look a very good team on home soil and the Bramall Lane faithful can roar them on to a good three points here. While Southampton have been improving, the Blades should have nothing to fear really. A narrow home win looks a good proposition.
