Sheffield Wednesday vs Brentford Betting Tips – EFL Championship, 7th December 15.00pm

Garry Monk’s Sheffield Wednesday and Thomas Frank’s Brentford square off at Hillsborough for a tasty EFL Championship fixture on Saturday afternoon. Fresh from their emphatic 7-0 win over Luton Town last time out, the Bees will be buzzing ahead of their trip to the Steel City. However, Queens Park Rangers are the only team to leave Hillsborough with all three points this season. Can the Owls make the most of being on home soil, or will the Bees take the points in Sheffield?

Sheffield Wednesday News and Form – Can the Owls make it back-to-back wins?

Garry Monk’s Sheffield Wednesday claimed a much-needed win last time out. Having gone five games without a triumph, the Owls left The Valley with a vital 3-1 victory last Saturday, with a Steven Fletcher brace and a late Atdhe Nuhui goal doing the business in the capital.

Prior to last weekend’s success at The Valley, Wednesday had taken just three points from a possible 15, drawing three and losing two. The Owls’ poor run of results has taken them from the play-off places down to ninth.

Sheffield Wednesday have been very hard to beat at Hillsborough this season, with only Queens Park Rangers leaving Sheffield with maximum points in the Championship. However, the Owls have drawn each of their last three on home soil.

Brentford News and Form – Rampant Bees to win again?

Thomas Frank’s Brentford go into this one having thumped Luton Town at Griffin Park last weekend. A hat-trick from Josh Da Silva and goals by Bryan Mbeumo, Ollie Watkins, Mathias Jensen and Said Benrahma gave the Bees the emphatic home victory over the struggling Hatters.

Brentford have been in excellent form of late, recovering superbly well after a slow start to their season. The team from west London head to Sheffield having won six of their last eight. Brentford have shot up to seventh in the table, taking 30 points from 19 league fixtures.

Despite losing at Blackburn Rovers in their last away match, Brentford have been in solid form on the road lately, winning three of their previous four. Three points at Hillsborough on Saturday could see Frank’s boys end the weekend in the top six of the Championship table.

Sheffield Wednesday vs Brentford Predictions

Brentford win: As I mentioned, Sheffield Wednesday have been a tough nut to crack on their own patch this season. Since Monk arrived, no team has won at Hillsborough, though each of their last three at home have ended in draws.

Brentford will be buoyed by last weekend’s massive win over Luton. The performance was the best the Championship has seen for quite some time, as the Bees ripped last season’s EFL League One champions to shreds at Griffin Park. Frank’s troops will be desperate to follow up that victory with another three points on Saturday.

This has the potential to be a tight game in the Steel City, but my money is going on the Brentford win at 15/8. I’m also backing the Bees to keep another clean sheet, so have a punt on the visitors to win to nil at 7/2.
