Sheffield Wednesday News and Form – Will the Owls continue fine form?
Wednesday have been in good form since Garry Monk arrived at Hillsborough. The Owls have won four of seven Championship matches under their new boss, beating Huddersfield Town, Middlesbrough, Wigan Athletic and Stoke City.
Last Tuesday’s victory over Stoke at Hillsborough lifted the Owls up to third in the Championship table. It was far from a classic, but Wednesday just about deserved the three points against the Potters, with Massimo Luongo scoring the only goal of the game two minutes before half time.
Sheffield Wednesday will fancy their chances of finishing in the top six at the very least this season. Victory over Leeds on Saturday will put Monk’s men joint top of the Championship table with West Bromwich Albion, who play Charlton Athletic at The Hawthorns shortly after.
Sheffield Wednesday vs Leeds United Head to Head
Leeds picked up four points from the two fixtures last season
Back in April, a Jack Harrison goal gave United a 1-0 victory over the Owls at Elland Road
Wednesday have won just two of the last six meetings
The Sheffield club picked up a famous 6-0 win over Leeds at Hillsborough back in early 2014
- The Owls have lost just once in the league under Monk
- Leeds have the second best away record in the Championship
- United are without a win in three (two defeats, one draw) on the road
Leeds United News and Form – Can Whites seal a first away win in four on Saturday?
Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United are still the favourites to win the Championship title, but the Whites have not been at their best in recent weeks. Since beating Stoke 3-0 at the bet365 Stadium in August, United have lost four of their following nine in all competitions.
After beating Birmingham City 1-0 at Elland Road last weekend, Leeds picked up a handy point at Deepdale in midweek. Preston North End have the best home record in the league, and they took the lead thanks to a Tom Barkhuizen strike. However, three minutes from time, substitute Eddie Nketiah equalised to give United a share of the spoils at Deepdale.
Leeds started the season by winning five away league and cup games in a row. However, they have failed to win any of their last three on the road in the league, losing two and drawing one. Can Leeds get back to winning ways on their travels this weekend?

Sheffield Wednesday vs Leeds United Predictions
Sheffield Wednesday win: On paper, these two Yorkshire rivals seem very evenly matched. The Owls are in excellent form under Monk, while Leeds currently occupy second place in the Championship table, two points adrift of leaders West Brom.
The Owls have scored in all bar one of their league matches since Monk arrived on the scene. As for United, they have netted in seven of their eight away games in all competitions. I fancy the draw and both teams to score (7/2). Wednesday have scored the first goal in each of their last three, claiming seven points along the way. The hosts are available at 6/4 to open the scoring on Saturday.
