The tournament starts on April 17th and the final will be held on May 3rd.

At the time of writing, it is expected that the Final will be played in front of a full capacity.

This is all happening at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield. It isthe 45th consecutive year that the venue has hosted the World championship.

The tournament also marks the end of the 2020/21 snooker season as this is the final ranking event to be played. It’s the big climax to the season basically.

Qualification runs between April 5th and 14th and 128 players enter the qualification process, but only sixteen of them will move through to the main draw. So that’s a whole tournament in and of itself basically.

2020 Snooker World championship Review

Ronnie O’Sullivan lifted the 2020 World Snooker Championship title with a convincing 18-8 victory over Kyren Wilson in the final.

Most of the tournament was played behind closed doors, but as a result of some changes, some fans allowed in for the final two days of the event.

World Number One Judd Trump had started the tournament as the outright favourite, but he fell in the quarter-finals to eventual finalist Kyren Wilson.

Wilson would go on to reach his first-ever World Championship final.

In his semi-final match, Ronnie O’Sullivan won a deciding frame against Mark Selby, which was arguably the match of the tournament.

Moving on to lift the title, it was the 6th World Championship for “The Rocket”.

The highest break was recorded by John Higgins, as he produced a maximum 147 in his second-round match against Kurt Maflin.

However, it didn’t help him out in the big picture as Higgins went on to lose the fixture.

Who is the World Championship Snooker Betting 2021 Favourite?

At the time of writing, it is Judd Trump who is running as the current 3/1 outright favourite in World Championship Snooker betting* (odds recorded at Bet365 on April 10th, 2021 at 20:55 GMT).

The 2019 champion couldn’t make it past the quarter-finals last year in his title defence.

He has made it to the final twice in his career and he has been the outstanding player of the 2020/21 snooker season.

Trump has won five ranking titles across the season and is naturally going to be one of the front runners at the Crucible Theatre this year again.

Can O’Sullivan make it title number 7?

There is going to be a lot of pressure on Ronnie O’Sullivan heading into the World Snooker Championship 2021.

He is the reigning champion, but the draw actually isn’t all that bad for him by the looks of it.

O’Sullivan claimed his sixth World Championship title last year, drawing level in the all-time standings with Ray Reardon and Steve Davis.

It is just one more title needed now for O’Sullivan to join Stephen Hendry at the top of the charts with seven.

O’Sullivan is the 4/1 second-favourite in Snooker World Championship betting 2021* (odds recorded at Bet365 on April 10th, 2021 at 20:55 GMT).

He is going to be up there alongside Trump as one of the front runners.

Yan Bingtao? What’s all the hype about?

Could there be a new Chinese superstar about to come through the ranks?

Yan Bingtao made a huge splash when he took his rising stock in the game to win this year’s Masters event from nowhere.

He earned his title with a 10-8 victory in the final against John Higgins, earning plaudits left right and centre for his performance.

So that Masters title is where all of the hype comes from. Now Bingtao comes into the World Championship event for just the third time in his fairly young career.

Bingtao has only been a professional for five seasons and hasn’t won a ranking title yet.

It was in the 2019/20 season that he really started to make progress. He  reached the final of the Players Championship and the semifinals of three other ranking events.

It was a second-round exit for Yan Bingtao at the World Championship last year. That was his second appearance at the Crucible.

He is the 10th seed for this year’s event and could have a future quarter-final match against Judd Trump on the cards.

Yan Bingtao is a 22/1 outsider in World Championship Snooker betting 2021* (odds recorded at Bet365 on April 10th, 2021 at 20:55 GMT).
