Spain v Norway Preview

Spain opened their Nations League campaign last year in some fine fashion, beating England 2-1 at Wembley and then hammering Croatia 6-0. But then it all fell apart from them as they suffered back to back 3-2 losses against those same opponents. That left Spain in second place in the group. They did win their last game though which was an international friendly at home against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The two defeats against England and Croatia is their only defeats (90 minutes) that they have suffered since March 2018. Their 2018 World Cup exit happens on a penalty shootout. Four of Spain’s last five games have made it over 2.5 goals. This Euro 2020 qualification group also contains Sweden who should be their biggest challengers for top spot. Spain have gone W3 D1 L1 in their last five fixtures on home soil.

Key-Facts – Spain v Norway

  • Four of Spain’s last five games have gone over 2.5 goals
  • Spain have lost just two of their last fourteen games
  • Spain are W4 D1 L1 in the head to head against Norway

Norway are not in bad form at all at the moment. They topped their League C Nations League group over Bulgaria, Cyprus and Slovenia with a W4 D1 L1 record. They went W1 D1 L1 on the road in those games and overall took a clean sheet in four of their six. Norway have only suffered one loss in their last ten games, which was an away defeat at Bulgaria in the Nations League. They didn’t meet opposition of the quality of Spain in that sequence of games though. Norway failed to make it to the World Cup 2018, losing half of their ten fixtures during the campaign. Norway are W3 D1 L1 in their last five away from home. Each of their last seven games played have ended under 2.5 goals.
