Horse Racing Betting

It should be an exciting contest as well with POETIC FLARE lining up as the current favourite for the contest.

But there are strong challengers behind him that put him under some huge pressure. The St James’s Palace Stakes is for 3-year-olds only.

Poetic Flare the 7/2 FAV in St James’s Palace Stakes Odds

At the head of the market for St James’s Palace Stakes racing odds on Tuesday, there is POETIC FLARE at 2/1* (odds recorded at 21:09 GMT on April 27th, 2021 at Ladbrokes).

He opened the season in cracking form with back to back successes. One of those was in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket and therefore has big claims at Royal Ascot.

Poetic Flare saw off some of these rivals in that contest as well. He is a really tough sort. On a hat-trick bid, he went to the French Guineas and failed to fire there, but had excuses.

With a good temperament, he bounced straight back for that to claim second place, only narrowly beaten in the Irish 2000 Guineas.

So there has been strong form from Poetic Flare and it would be no surprise to see him right in the thick of things here.

Lucky Vega
13/2

Can Battleground bounce back?

On his reappearance run, BATTLEGROUND went off in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket. It didn’t happen for him there.

He was beaten by 20l behind winner Poetic Flare, having gone into the contest as the 9/2 FAV. That was just a disappointing day at the office for him.

But there is a chance that he could bounce straight back because he was in great shape in the previous campaign.

Battleground won at last year’s Royal Ascot, claiming the Chesham in that. He also claimed the Vintage Stakes in the summer.

The excuses at Newmarket for the 2000 Guineas was simply that the track was not in his favour. He has proven that Ascot is.

Given that the 2000 Guineas didn’t work out for him and he wasn’t competitive, he could still be fresh for this one and that puts him on the radar.

Mostahdaf brings a threat to the field

John Gosden sends out MOTSAHDAF for the St James’s Palace Stakes on Tuesday.

From a quote of 6/1 in the racing market, he is worth taking a good look at* (odds recorded at 21:09 GMT on April 27th, 2021 at Ladbrokes).

The son of Frankel has won all three starts so far and the hat trick was completed at Sandown in the Heron Stakes 26 days ago.

He got the better of HIGHLAND AVENUE, who is re-opposing in this race, behind him by half a length.

There is still plenty of progress to come from him as well, and given Gosden has won this race three since 2014, Most Ahdaf can’t be ignored.

Mostahadaf needs another step forward in progress to claim this Group 1 affair, but he may not be too far away.

Lucky Vega can step it up

There is plenty of interest LUCKY VEGA in St James’s Palace Stakes racing odds as well.

He produced a fantastic reappearance run at the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket. Lucky Vega was eye-catching in that one to claim third behind winner Poetic Flare.

It was a close third as well, so that suggests that he can go well against the rival again.

On a follow up to the Guianas, Lucky Vega went to the Irish Guineas where he was nowhere near as sharp.

But that was on soft ground and the return to sharper turf is likely to ensure that he narrows the gap again to Poetic Flare for trainer Jessica Harrington.

There is a quote of 13/2 on Lucky Vega in St James’s Palace Stakes odds* (odds recorded at 21:09 GMT on April 27th, 2021 at Ladbrokes).

Can Highland Avenue return to winning ways

HIGHLAND AVENUE could easily be one of the big protagonists as well in this cracking fixture at Ascot.

It was a compiled hattrick straight out of the gate as a 3-year-old this season for Charlie Appleby’s Highland Avenue.

He has been rapidly approving, securing the hat-trick at the Feilden at Newmarket.

He followed that up in search of a four-timer with a second place in the Heron Stakes at Sandown.

Highland Avenue found only Mosthadaf too good for him on the day, but he was conceding 3lb to that rival.

There looks to be a lot more to come from the very promising Highland Avenue, who is a quote of 7/1* (odds recorded at 21:09 GMT on April 27th, 2021 at Ladbrokes).

Others to note

BULLACE is no forlorn hope in this one. He was a very good competitive third-place finisher behind Mosthadaf and Highland Avenue on his last run, the second of the season. He had opened the campaign with a handicap win at Newmarket.

CHINDIT is another that can’t be easily dismissed. He didn’t get it together at Newmarket for the 2000 Guineas, but the track didn’t suit. Chindit was fifth there and not disgraced at all. As a 2-year-old Chindit won a Group 2.

NAAMOOS looks a promising one as well and he sits on a hattrick. There should be more progress coming after winning by 6 lengths last time out at Sandown. There’s pretty smart form behind his two wins.

Predictions & Tips for St James’s Palace Stakes Racing Odds

This is a cracking lineup for the St James’s Palace Stakes on Tuesday. There are claims all over the place.

We do think that the current favourite POETIC FLARE is well worth taking on in this contest. The form is there from him, but he is going to be under big pressure.

LUCKY VEGA may be the way to go at 13/2 to oppose him* (odds recorded at 21:09 GMT on April 27th, 2021 at Ladbrokes).

There is solid form there from him who should relish and find further progress on the switch back to the firmer ground after finding things too soft at the Irish Guineas.

The other selection that we will look for is HIGHLAND AVENUE at 7/1* (odds recorded at 21:09 GMT on April 27th, 2021 at Ladbrokes). He has stacks of potential and challenged Mosthadaf very well in the Heron Stakes.
