The Kindred Group has confirmed that it has closed the Stan James Online brand, instead, now customers are being directed to their lead platform at Unibet. The group announced that the full migration of customers from Stan James to Unibet has now been completed.
The Kindred Group acquired the online sports betting division of Stan James Gibraltar for £19 million, in 2015, which was its first UK-centric acquisition.
At the time they stated that they would only be keeping the Stan James brand over for a ‘transitional period’ and that the plan was to close down Stan James online by early 2018, which they have done.
Stan James was created back in 1973 in Oxfordshire and in many regards, they were pioneers in the game as well, as they would offer markets through the old TV Teletext service as well as being a leader in telephone betting. They have around 90 betting shops up and down the country and they will remain in operation.
