Stoke City News and Form – Another defeat for the Potters?

Stoke City have made a woeful start to their season. The Potters sit rock bottom of the Championship table having picked up just one point from four games so far. Meanwhile, City have scored five and shipped ten along the way.

Stoke started their season with a poor 2-1 loss to Queens Park Rangers at the bet365 Stadium, which they followed up with a 3-1 defeat to Charlton Athletic at The Valley on matchday two. Stoke did pick up a 1-0 win at Wigan Athletic in the EFL Cup, though.

In their last home match, City drew with Phillip Cocu’s Derby County in an eventful matchup. The Potters fell behind after just two minutes, but two Scott Hogan goals put them in front. Unfortunately for Stoke, they failed to hold on in the eventual 2-2 draw.

There were plenty of positives to take from that stalemate with the Rams, but Stoke were awful at Preston North End in midweek, as Jones’ troops crashed to a 3-1 defeat at Deepdale.

There are huge ongoing problems at Stoke City at the moment, and things won’t get any easier for them against Leeds at the weekend. This could be a tough afternoon for the Potters.

Leeds United News and Form – Whites to make it 13 points from 15?

Leeds United have started their Championship season like a house on fire, picking up ten points from their opening four games. Having missed out on promotion to the Premier League in the play-offs after finishing in third last term, the Whites will be gunning for top two place this time around.

Bielsa’s boys were excellent in their opening game at Bristol City, with Pablo Hernandez, Patrick Bamford and Jack Harrison on the scoresheet in a convincing 3-1 win. Leeds failed to beat Nottingham Forest (1-1) in their next one, but they have hit back with three league and cup wins in a row.

After winning 3-0 at Salford City in the EFL Cup and beating Wigan 2-0 away from home in the league, Leeds secured a narrow home win over Brentford at Elland Road in midweek. Eddie Nketiah’s late goal proved to be the difference against the Bees in the 1-0 triumph.

Leeds have a 100% away record this season, and the Yorkshire club had one of the best records on the road in the Championship last term. United won 11 of 23 away matches, accumulating 37 points in the process.

Leeds are flying at the moment, and Bielsa’s troops will be targeting another three points on their travels at the weekend.

Stoke City v Leeds United Predictions

Leeds United win: Bielsa’s boys head to the Potteries full of confidence and belief. United have been the best team in the Championship so far, sweeping aside most of their opponents. Leeds have kept clean sheets in each of their last three league and cup games, shipping just two goals in five so far. The visitors should keep Stoke at bay in this one, so take a punt on Leeds to win to nil at 5/2.

Striker Patrick Bamford has made a stunning start to his season. The 25-year-old has already netted three goals, scoring in wins over Bristol City and Wigan. Back Bamford to open the scoring on Saturday at the tempting odds of 4/1.
