Stoke City v Queens Park Rangers Betting Tips – EFL Championship, 3rd August 15.00pm

Stoke City start their 2019-20 EFL Championship campaign with a home game against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday. This weekend’s clash at the bet365 Stadium will be Mark Warburton’s first game in charge of QPR. The Potters finished in a lowly 16th place last season, but they have been tipped to do much better this time around, with bet365 pricing them at just 6/4 to finish in the top six. Can Stoke start with a win this Saturday?

Stoke City News and Form – Can the Potters hit back after a poor season?

Stoke picked up a mere 11 wins in the Championship last season. However, the Potters drew a staggering 11 of their last 15 league games, winning two and losing two of the other four. Since taking over as boss in January, Jones has secured just three victories at Stoke, beating Leeds United, Nottingham Forest and Blackburn Rovers.

Stoke have been very busy in the summer, with several players joining the bet365 Stadium. Jordan Cousins, Adam Davies, Lee Gregory, Liam Lindsay, Nick Powell, Tommy Smith and Stephen Ward have come in, with the likes of Charlie Adam, Geoff Cameron and Erik Pieters moving on.

Stoke fell to a 2-1 home loss to Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City in their final pre-season match, but the Staffordshire club claimed friendly wins over Wrexham, Tranmere Rovers and Lincoln City.

City had a mixed bag of results at the bet365 Stadium last term, winning eight, drawing nine and losing six. On the road, meanwhile, Stoke battled to 13 draws, which was the most in the league.

It was a real wakeup call for Stoke, who spent a decade in the Premier League prior to last term’s Championship campaign. However, they still have some excellent players within their ranks and a very capable squad. Can Jones get the best out of his players this season?

Queens Park Rangers News and Form – Top-half finish for Warburton’s Rangers?

Queens Park Rangers made a woeful start to last season, losing each of their opening four Championship matches. Steve McClaren’s men took some hammerings, too, losing 7-1 at West Bromwich Albion and 3-0 to Bristol City at Loftus Road. To be fair, though, QPR recovered well, even moving to within two points of the play-off places on Boxing Day.

The Hoops went on to finish in 19th spot on 51 points in England’s second tier. QPR were poor at home, with only Rotherham United (29), Ipswich Town (20) and Bolton Wanderers (16) claiming fewer than their 30 home points. Meanwhile, the Londoners won just five times on the road.

Mark Warburton is the new man in charge at QPR. The former Rangers and Nottingham Forest manager did a fine job at QPR’s rivals Brentford a few years back, but will the 56-year-old succeed at Loftus Road?

The R’s, who lost 1-0 at home to Watford in their final pre-season friendly, will be hoping to improve on last season’s 19th-place finish.

Stoke City v Queens Park Rangers Predictions

Stoke City win: The Potters picked up 12 league and cup victories last season, with ten of those coming with clean sheets. I can see Stoke kicking off this term with a win and a shutout on Saturday, which you can get at the fair price of 15/8. Five of Stoke’s victories ended in 2-0 scorelines last season. With that in mind, back City to win 2-0 (7/1) on the opening weekend.
