One of the very popular races amongst horse race speculators trying to get a winning jump on the Cheltenham Festival is The Supreme Novices’. It is the opening for the four-day National Hunt exhibition and provides a way for future champions to launch themselves into greatness. Last year we had 6-year-old Summerville Boy (9/1) snatching the renewal with a heart-stopping ending. Taking Kalashnikov with a photo finish.

2019 Preview

Al Dancer this season has won all three starts and took home the win on the New Course at Cheltenham this past December. He won hurdles at Ffos Las and Carlisle, most impressive in the former beating Present Value by two lengths. He is most definitely the leading contender with winning odds of 5/1* (betting odds taken from bet365 on March 11th, 2019 at 4:13 pm)

Mister Fisher has shown consistent improvement and shows promise of continuing to do so. Most recently he won a Grade 2 contest at Haydock and seems to be effective on any ground. Mister Fisher’s odds are at 16/1* (betting odds taken from bet365 on March 11th, 2019 at 4:13 pm).

Angels Breath made a strong impact when winning at Ascot this past November. Now, this doesn’t show any promise of any sort for the Supreme but his capability and capacity must be heeded. He holds strong odds at 5/1* (betting odds taken from bet365 on March 11th, 2019 at 4:13 pm)

Aramon has have been very promising with his starts over hurdles. Out of a total of six starts this campaign he has been the victor in three. One of those was an impressive triumph over Sancta Simona at Leopardstown during the Christmas season to win the Paddy Power Future Champions Hurdle.

When racing in the Chanelle Pharma Novice Hurdle he only lost by a hair to Klassical Dream. His odds hold at 16/1 will have some each way appeal* (betting odds taken from bet365 on March 11th, 2019 at 4:13 pm)

Klassical Dream had five starts in France before coming over to Ireland. His performance and victory on his Irish debut over at Leopardstown is a strong indication he is well above average putting him at 9/2 odds* (betting odds taken from bet365 on March 11th, 2019 at 4:13 pm).

Prediction

The Supreme Novices never fails to deliver a breathtaking spectacle as the Festival’s opening race. This year’s renewal looks competitive, although Al Dancer is a justifiable favourite going into the challenge.

Klassical Dream sits as a very nice option to win outright though at a slightly better price. The top each way option that we can pull at will be Mister Fisher to step it up on the day* (betting odds taken from bet365 on March 11th, 2019 at 4:13 pm).
