Swansea City News and Form – Another win for the Swans?
A lot changed at Swansea City over the summer. Graham Potter guided the Welsh club to a tenth-place finish in his one and only season last term. However, he opted to take over Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion. Meanwhile, several players left, including Daniel James and Oli McBurnie for big fees.
Steve Cooper, who was somewhat of an unknown entity, inherited the managerial reigns at the Liberty. To say the Welshman has hit the ground running would be a huge understatement. The Swans are unbeaten in their opening six league and cup games under Cooper, winning five and drawing one.
Swansea sit joint top of the Championship table with Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United after five matches. Since drawing 0-0 with Derby County at Pride Park, the Welsh side have won three on the bounce, beating Preston North End (3-2), Queens Park Rangers (3-1) and Birmingham City (3-0). City face Leeds at Elland Road in a top-of-the-table clash this Saturday.
In the first round of the EFL Cup, Swansea eased past Northampton Town at the Liberty, with Andre Ayew helping himself to a brace. George Byers was also on the scoresheet in the comfortable 3-1 win. Will the Swans book their place in third round after beating another League Two side on Wednesday?

Cambridge United have kicked off their League Two campaign with two wins, two draws and one loss. Before losing 2-1 at home to Oldham Athletic at the Abbey Stadium in their last outing, Colin Calderwood’s troops were unbeaten in their opening five league and cup matches.
In the first round of the League Cup, the U’s shocked Championship outfit Brentford at Griffin Park. Marc Richards gave United a third-minute lead in London, but Thomas Frank’s men equalised through a second-half Marcus Forss goal. Cambridge were not to be denied at Griffin Park, though, and Calderwood’s side went on to win 5-4 on penalties to secure their passage through to the second round.
After a number of years struggling in League Two, Cambridge would love to push for the play-offs this season. United currently sit 11th after taking eight points from five games. At the time of writing, Cambridge are available at 9/1 (Ladbrokes) for promotion to the third tier.
