Swansea v Sheffield Wednesday Betting Preview – FA Cup 27th February 8.05pm

This is the third round in a row that Swansea have faced a replay back at the Liberty Stadium to try and move past a lower-tiered side in the FA Cup. So it’s been an extra long campaign for the Premier League side and they go back into battle with Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night after the two of them played out a predictable 0-0 draw at Hillsborough at the first time of asking.

Swansea v Sheffield Wednesday FA Cup Betting Tips

The Swans had their great run of form snapped on the weekend as they went to Brighton in the Premier League and were smashed apart in a 4-1 loss. That was after a run of ten unbeaten games that they had strung together. Buyback on home soil they have been going well there and are currently on a five-match winning streak at the Liberty Stadium in all competitions. That run started with an FA Cup third round replay success over Wolves and included another replay against Notts County in the last round. There’s been a steady pattern in their FA Cup progress this season. After the pretty predictable 0-0 draw that Swansea and Sheffield Wednesday played out at Hillsborough recently, this is likely to go under 2.5 goals too which is at 13/20 odds* (Betting Odds taken at 8:33 p.m. on February 25th, 2018) with bookmaker bet365. Swansea have scored in six of their last seven home games but during that spell have taken only the one clean sheet.

The last two meetings between the Owls and the Swans have ended in a 0-0 draw and there has been three of those results in the last four meetings. In the Bet365 correct score market, a 0-0 draw is at 7/1 odds with a Swansea 1-0 the shortest priced option at 5/1* (Betting Odds taken at 8:33 p.m. on February 25th, 2018). All but one of the last eight games between the two of them have gone under 2.5 goals and in the last three duels between the at the Liberty Stadium, there have been two drawn matches and an away win for the Owls. This will be the third FA Cup match these two have played, the one being the 0-0 draw which led to this replay and the other a home success for the Owls back in 1962.

Sheffield Wednesday are well out of form in the Championship and across all competitions have managed to pick up just the one win in their last seven. Away from home they have not tasted success for some time now having produced a D4 L2 record in their last six on the road, and there has been only one win for them in their last ten away from Hillsborough. They do lack a serious scoring threat and have produced only two goals in total in their last six road games, failing to score in four of those games in that sequence. So far in this season’s FA Cup, they needed a replay in the third round to edge past League Two side Carlisle, before seeing off Reading at Hillsborough and then that 0-0 draw with Swansea. It does give them three clean sheets in four FA Cup games this season. But can they find the goals to topple their Premier League opponents?

Swansea v Sheffield Wednesday FA Cup Predictions

The Swans have fallen into a pattern and it is worth backing the Premier League side to edge their way through this. They have been in decent form at home and the Owls probably won’t have the goals in them to keep their dreams alive.
