Sweden v Romania Preview

Sweden had a good Nations League campaign as they topped their group ahead of Russia. That sees them earn promotion up to League A. But even with that said their form hasn’t been all that hot really with just two victories in their last nine internationals. Their most recent action was back in a couple of friendlies out in Qatar where they lost against Finland and drew with Iceland. In their last five home fixtures, Sweden have posted just one win, losing two of those. Going back to their Nations League campaign they beat Russia 2-0 but suffered a dramatic collapse to lose 2-3 against Turkey at home. Back in the World Cup 2018 qualification campaign Sweden did just enough to edge out the Netherlands to earn second place. That campaign was based on a very strong home record of W3 D1.

Key-Facts – Sweden v Romania

  • Sweden have won only one of their last five at home
  • The Swedes topped their Nations League group
  • Romania are undefeated in 10 international fixtures

Romania did all right in their Nations League earning second place in the group of four. That was down in League C where they faced Lithuania, Montenegro and Serbia. Romania took a W3 D3 record from their six matches. Away from home they took a very good draw at Serbia and returned one-goal margin wins in Montenegro and Lithuania. They are actually carrying some very good form as they are undefeated in their last 10 international fixtures. They have won three of their last four as well. They have been tight at the back as they have taken four clean sheets in their last six played. During this current run of good form Romania hosted Sweden back in a March friendly last year and collected a 1-0 win. This will be their first competitive fixture in Sweden.

Sweden v Romania Predictions

Draw: Romania look a pretty solid unit at the moment and have the ability to turn up in Solna and perhaps stick in there for a draw. They are well organised at the back and Sweden aren’t in hot form at the moment. The draw in the match outright is at 5/2 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on March 19th, 2019 at 3:50 p.m.).
