Switzerland are in a good position going into the final round of group stage matches. That is because of their dramatic comeback victory over Serbia in their second match. The Swiss pulled themselves together to pick up a bonus point of a draw against Brazil in their opener which was fully unexpected. But they looked in trouble as they started the second half of their game against Serbia trailing 1-0. It was not long before they were back level though and then deep into stoppage time Xherdan Shaqiri broke away for a fantastic solo goal to give the Swiss a 2-1 win. So basically that leaves them in a position of being able to afford to just match whatever Serbia manage to do against Brazil because they are starting one point ahead of the Serbians.

Switzerland are not in bad form having gone W3 D3 in their last six games and so they have been pretty solid form. You don’t look at Switzerland and see a strong scoring side at all really though, but they have managed to get on the scoresheet in each of their last five games. Their best football that they have played so far at Russia 2018 without a doubt is their second-half performance, born out of desperation of course, against Serbia. They had to fight back in that one and that saw the very best of them.
