Switzerland News and Form

Switzerland produced a 2-0 away win in Georgia over the weekend to start their Euro 2020 qualification campaign. That moved them on to three wins in their last four games. The only exception in that sequence was a home loss in a friendly against Qatar. Looking back a little further the Swiss are mixed at W3 L3 in their last six played, home and away.

They have been strong at home for some time now though, which was evident in their World Cup 2018 qualification campaign when they beat Portugal. Switzerland have lost just one of their last ten home internationals (friendly and competitive). They also pulled off a shock in the Nations League winning their group ahead of Belgium. At home the Swiss beat the Red Devils 5-2 and Iceland 6-0 in the campaign.

Denmark News and Form

The Danes are shaping up well and have been for a good year or so. They are undefeated in their last six games, their last reverse being in an international friendly against Slovakia. This is their opening game in the Euro 2020 qualifiers. They did play a friendly 2-2 draw against Kosovo in midweek, but they will be fielding a much stronger side for this one. Denmark have only suffered one defeat in their last sixteen games (over 90 minutes).

The Danes have actually only lost two of their last 22 games so are not going to be a pushover in this fixture. During that sequence of fixtures, they were dumped out of the World Cup 2018 on penalties by Croatia in the round of sixteen. Denmark have taken four clean sheets in their last six games but they have conceded in three of their last four on the road. Denmark won their Nations League group over Wales and Ireland, going undefeated on the road.

Switzerland v Denmark Predictions

Switzerland to win: The match outright draw is not without its appeal at all in this fixture. That’s because Denmark are a well-organised side and they could prove to be stubborn opposition. But still, you have to look at the home form of the Swiss in the Nations League and side with them to pick up the win.
