Poland to ease through to quarter finals

Switzerland v Poland Euro 2016

Switzerland v Poland Betting Preview – Euro 2016, 25th June

This would appear to be one of the easier round of sixteen match at Euro 2016 to be making a call on. Poland have a lot going for them at the tournament, having kept three clean sheets from three games and with a lot of potential still to happen going forward. It is likely to be all too much for the Switzerland side who are set up to contain and hang in there more than to go out and push to win matches. Will Poland be marching on through to the quarter finals in the favourable top half of the draw?

Switzerland v Poland Betting Tips

Poland may be very happy that Germany beat them to the top of Group C on goal difference, as that has left Poland in the much easier half of the Euro 2016. So they have big reasons to be positive here and they get a favourable game to kick off the knockout stage with as well. Poland face Switzerland on Saturday, and the Swiss were one of the poorer sides to come through the group stage into the round of sixteen and Poland should be comfortable. Poland were very solid through their group stage, taking wins over the Ukraine and Northern Ireland, while playing out a draw with Germany. However, they have created a lot more chances than they have put away and as soon a their forwards get themselves going then they are only going to get stronger.

Up front for them, Poland need Robert Lewandowski to start filling his boots, still waiting for his first goal of the tournament. He can be backed at a 6/4 quote in the anytime goalscorer market for this game, while Arkadiusz Milik, who has looked one of the best players of the tournament so far, is an 11/4 shot. So they have a lot of quality in attack, the goals just haven’t quite flowed as easily for them as they were doing so through Euro 2016 qualification. At the back they have been very good, banking three clean sheets on the bounce in the competition and they are a hugely valuable quote of 5/2 to go and beat Switzerland to nil. Not only have they yet to concede at the tournament, but they have earned six clean sheets in their last seven games played.

Switzerland aren’t carrying much of an attacking threat at all, there’s not a lot there from them and they will be hoping to just dig in and hold out for as long as possible. They opened with  a scrappy 1-0 win over ten-man Albania in the tournament and then played out draws with France and Romania. Switzerland have won only two of their last seven games now in a poor W2 D2 L3 record and the two victories that they did post were against lower-ranked opposition in Moldova and Albania. There really isn’t a lot of quality throughout the squad there from them. Haris Seferovic once again, is their shortest priced anytime goalscorer option at a 3/1 quote for the game.

Switzerland v Poland Predictions

The Swiss haven’t beaten Poland in their last two meetings with them and aren’t likely to give the Poles too much trouble in this one. Poland are quick, positive and have players who can put the ball in the back of the net. That’s the opposite of everything that Switzerland can offer up. Look for Poland to win to nil.
