Chelsea v Manchester United FA Cup Prediction & Betting Odds – 19th May 2018

Manchester United
Chelsea v Manchester United FA Cup, 19th May 5.15pm Will it be Chelsea or Manchester United getting their hands on a piece of silverware this season in the FA Cup final at Wembley on the weekend? There has been no love lost between the two managers this season and there is plenty of speculation as to whether or not this will be Antonio Conte’s last game in charge of the Blues. Manchester United did pretty well against the other top six rivals in the Premier League this season, so can they take down the disjointed Chelsea to finish the season on a high?

Chelsea v Manchester United FA Cup Betting Odds*

Manchester United 8/5, Chelsea 19/20, Draw 11/5* (Betting Odds taken at 6:58 p.m. on May 15th, 2018)

Chelsea v Manchester United FA Cup Betting Tips

Chelsea looked as if they had played their way into a serious challenge for a top four finish in the Premier League this season. However, after their four-match winning streak, it all fell apart for them in their last two games. A home draw against Huddersfield was followed up by their worst performance of the season in suffering a three-nil loss at Newcastle on the final day of the season. Chelsea have just looked off-colour for pretty much the entirety of the season only producing in small patches here and there. It is glaringly obvious that they are missing a big goal scoring threat up front, but they haven’t been very convincing in defence either. Will their current lack of punch going forward hinder their chances of trying to break down Manchester United’s defence? Manchester United generally play a bit conservative and so will Chelsea find the space to open them up? Under 2.5 goals at bet365 is at 8/15 odds* (Betting Odds taken at 6:58 p.m. on May 15th, 2018). Chelsea certainly did not look confident in their own ability at Newcastle on the weekend. Defensively they have just looked an absolute shambles at times this season a far cry from their powerful season last term. However, they do have three clean sheets in their last five games but in their final five games of the season, they only managed to score more than one goal in a game on one occasion. In the bet365 correct score market, the shortest priced option available is the 1-1 draw at 5 to 1 odds but a Manchester United 1-0 option is at 11 to 2 and pretty appealing for this FA Cup Final. Chelsea were very nearly knocked out in the third round of the FA Cup as they needed a penalty shoot-out at home against Championship Norwich to make it through. They did then have easy home wins over Newcastle and then Hull and in the quarter-finals, they needed extra time to move past Leicester at the King Power Stadium. Chelsea took a 2-0 win at Wembley over Southampton in the semi finals but didn’t have things all their own way in that game. With a second-place finish in the Premier League and a place in the FA Cup final, it has been a pretty decent season from Manchester United even though their performances have been less than spectacular. But they can finish with a bang here and they are in decent form having lost only one of the last 14 matches across all competitions. The Red Devils won 10 of those games so their form is strong. They did have to get through the end of the season without their top goalscorer, Romelu Lukaku but the Red Devils are hoping that he will be fit to start at Wembley. Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea won the Golden Gloves in the Premier League this season setting a new record for clean sheets. He really is a match winner and a game changer for United and really holds up what is a pretty average looking defence in front of him. Manchester United to win to nil at bet365 is 3/1 odds. Manchester United have not really been troubled in the FA Cup this season as they started out with a comfortable home victory over Championship side Derby. They then went out on the road to bank wins at Yeovil and then Huddersfield before beating Brighton back at Old Trafford in the quarter finals. United did not ship a single goal on their way to reaching the semi-finals. They had to go up against Spurs in the semi finals and United were underdogs for that game with Spurs in form and having played all of their home games at Wembley this season. But it was United who did come out on top, doing a great job of keeping Spurs quiet and they took a 2-1 victory for themselves. That continued the streak of the Red Devils scoring at least two goals in each and every one of their FA Cup matches this season. Even though they have been heavily criticised this season they do seem to be organised they generally stick to a conservative game plan as is generally the way with Jose Mourinho. It is the result that matters the most not the performance.

Chelsea v Manchester United head to head

From the two Premier League meetings between Chelsea and Manchester United this season they both took a¬†home victory and both of those victories were by a¬†one goal¬†margin only. They were paired up in the FA Cup last season with Chelsea taking a home win over the Red Devils. Chelsea have won three of the last five meetings with Manchester United in all competitions and each of those victories they won with a clean sheet as well. From the previous fourteen FA Cup matches that these two have contested it is Manchester United who are 8-4 ahead with the two drawn matches.

Who will win - Chelsea v Manchester United FA Cup Predictions

Chelsea looked really short on confidence and quality in their defeat at Newcastle on the weekend. They can’t seem to get much going inside the opposition penalty box and Manchester United should be able to hold them at bay. The Red Devils are the stronger and more organised of the two sides and can take the victory to nil.

Money Back Special on ALL losing markets for Chelsea v Man United

Ladbrokes

Online betting site Ladbrokes have rolled out a fantastic football betting promotion for Chelsea v Man United on Sunday in the Premier League. Both Teams have scored in seven of the last ten meetings between the two clubs and Ladbrokes have targeted the Both Teams To Score market for the latest clash.

Life for David Moyes in his first season with the Red Devils hasn’t been going all that smoothly at all, while Chelsea, under Jose Mourinho have slipped into title challenging mode, and it is the Blues who are being backed heavily to get another big three points as they keep up the pressure on Arsenal and Man City. For the Red Devils, the loss of more points will put more pressure on them in trying to reach the top four.

Ladbrokes are offering money back on ALL losing markets for Chelsea v Man United, if both teams score in the match.

It is a fantastic looking promotion, and nine of the last eleven meetings between the two have either been drawn or settled by a single goal, so things have been tight between them. There has been just the one goalless draw between Chelsea and United in those last eleven meetings.

United have scored in all but one of their away games in the top flight this season, while Chelsea have netted a goal in each of their home games this season. So there could be goals flowing at the Bridge.

Ascendancy is with Chelsea in the recent meetings though, as the Blues have only lost one of the last seven meetings with United in all competitions. With such a hot price value of 4/5 on Chelsea to land the win at the Bridge on Sunday, punters are going to be jumping all over that. The Blues are unbeaten in 19 Premier League matches now at Stamford Bridge (sixteen wins), and United have only won three of their last ten games in London (against QPR and Fulham).

Will it be an important three points for Jose Mourinho? Which ever way you are looking to be on Chelsea v Man United, take full advantage of this amazing promotion. This offer does apply to bets placed before kick off only and the Both Teams To Score market won’t be available for this.

New customers registering an account with online betting site Ladbrokes can get up to £30 worth of free bets as a welcome bonus.

2010/11 Champions League quarter final betting tips

Champions League Betting

If Tottenham Hotspur are going to win this season’s Champions League final at Wembley on 28th May, they will probably have to beat Real Madrid, Barcelona and then either Chelsea or Manchester United to get their hands on the trophy. And that’s after beating Serie A leaders Milan in the last sixteen!

Real Madrid v Tottenham

It’s a daunting mission for Harry Redknapp’s side although we should remember that a) they finished ahead of Inter in the group stage and b) the pressure is firmly on Real Madrid to win their quarter final tie, especially now that Jose Mourinho is in charge.

The Spanish side are warm favourites to go through after a routine 2-0 victory over Lyon to ensure that they qualified 3-1 on aggregate. Mourinho is bidding to become the first manager in history to win the competition with three different clubs and Real are 1/2 with Paddy Power to win the first leg at the Bernabeu.

However, Tottenham have the supposed advantage of playing the second leg at home, while we should also remember that they won 1-0 at the San Siro thanks to some solid defending and fast counter-attack play. Bet365 offer 7/1 that they win the first leg.

To qualify odds
Real Madrid – 2/5 with Paddy Power
Tottenham Hotspur – 5/2 with Blue Square

Chelsea v Manchester United

It was the tie that neither team wanted, although they have been drawn in the opposite half to Barcelona and Real Madrid, with the winners of Inter Milan v FC Schalke waiting in the semi-final.

This is a repeat of the 2008 final which went to penalties and the bookies are finding it hard to split the two teams this time around, despite United’s loftier position in the Premier League.

The second leg takes place at Old Trafford although the Red Devils will be keen to secure an away goal at Stamford Bridge to take the pressure off trying to keep a clean sheet at home.

Chelsea are the 5/4 favourites with Paddy Power to win the first leg and they recently beat Manchester United at home which caused Sir Alex Ferguson to criticise the referee and incur a five-game ban. The visitors are 12/5 with bet365 to land an away win.

To qualify odds
Chelsea – 10/11 with Stan James
Manchester United – evens with bet365

FC Barcelona v Shakhtar Donetsk

The world and his wife seems to think that Barcelona have landed a plum tie in the quarter finals, with the bookies cutting Pep Guardiola’s team to around even money to win this season’s Champions League.

However, it should be remembered that Shakhtar won at the Nou Camp last season in the group stages and they will also be playing the second leg at the Donbass Arena.

To qualify odds
Barcelona – 1/7 with Paddy Power
Shakhtar Donetsk – 5/1 with bet365

Inter Milan v Schalke

Inter’s amazing comeback at the Allianz Arena has been rewarded with another clash against German opposition and the bookies make Leonardo’s team strong favourites to be lining up against Chelsea or Manchester United.

To qualify odds
Inter – 2/5 with Paddy Power
Schalke – 11/4 with William Hill

Manchester United Premier League Betting – December Preview

Premier League Betting

Manchester United have gotten their noses in front of Chelsea as the Premier League enters the month of December. They will have looked at Chelsea’s fixture list and smiled to be honest, because if they can beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, then United would, following that match, probably have a huge advantage at the top of the Premier League. There are a couple of interesting matches for Manchester United, but they look to have a much easier December than Chelsea. There are questions surrounding the quality in depth of the squad at Old Trafford. The starting eleven really doesn’t sound as if it will cause as much threat as it should, but with Manchester United, you know you are going to get goals, and solid, scrapping performances when needed. Even though the quality may not be at its highest, Alex Ferguson has plenty of versatility at his disposal. He can rotate his squad easily and still manage to come up with the results needed. They of course have just gotten back Wayne Rooney, and if he reproduces his best form, then his goals will only strengthen them. Big questions about their midfield being good enough though, and that could be their downfall. Do they have the title credentials to take back their Premier League crown? Here we take a look at what is in store for Manchester United over the following month in the Premier League, along with some betting tips and football predictions.

Manchester United Premier League Outright Betting

Suddenly Manchester United look strong favourites to win the Premier League ahead of Chelsea, and a much clearer picture will be seen at the end of December. The two sides meet, and Chelsea also have to navigate a much tougher fixture list than Manchester United have to do. This really puts the ball in Manchester United’s court, and there are steady signs that they are going to get better as the season goes along. They are still unbeaten in the Premier League this year, although they have not been as ruthless in finishing teams off and picking up three points. They suddenly make the most sense to get behind, because there are winnable games during December for United, which could see them in a big ascendancy come the start of the new year. Well worth backing right now taking December into consideration. You always know that they are going to be up there mixing it up, however well the challengers around are doing. They have the stick-ability that always takes them close, and they are well worth a punt for good value.

Blackpool v Manchester United, Saturday, December 4th

Blackpool are beginning to find life in the Premier League a little bit tough, and as they struggle on through the winter months it may just get a little bit tougher again. Manchester United, who been strangely charitable on their travels this year, should win this one. Still, you look at the fixture list and see this one on your coupon, and you can’t think of anything other than an away win. United have to start getting more clinical and ruthless on the road if they are going to press home any advantage that Chelsea will inadvertently give them. This should be the first three points of December in the bag for the Red Devils. Yes, they have drawn six of their seven away matches in the Premier League this season, but the important stat to read from that, is that they have not dropped any points. These kind of opponents are sort of unknown, and may raise their game to give United a challenge, but it won’t be enough to stop the Red Devils. They will get their away game going, and this is a good place to start.
Prediction: Win 4/11 at Bet365
Other: Draw 17/4 at Victor Chandler, Blackpool 8/1 at BetFred

Manchester United v Arsenal, Monday, December 13th

The first of two December Premier League fixtures which could really define United’s season. Their matches against Arsenal are always entertainment, and never short on incident. This one promises to be no different, and with it being at Old Trafford, you have to believe that Manchester United are not going to throw away three points here. They just are not that easily beaten there, no matter how good the opposition is. United have that little bit of grit and grind to get the better of Arsenal, much as they have done in the past. Manchester United have a fantastic 57% win success at Old Trafford against Arsenal, and that just about sums it all up. United beat Arsenal home and away last season, and while arguably the Gunners are much stronger than they were last season, it is still very difficult to see them breezing into Old Trafford and winning. There are just some vulnerabilities at the back for Arsenal that Manchester United will exploit, and will enjoy exploiting. United lead the overall head to head against the Gunners too, with 86 wins to Arsenal’s 77, but for this big December Premier League match, Arsenal wins at Old Trafford are just too rare to expect another.
Prediction: Win 18/19 at Bwin

Chelsea v Manchester United, Sunday, December 19th

How will the Premier League be looking by the time United head south to London to face defending Champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge? United could well have their noses further in front than just the two point lead which they have at the start of December. Assuming United go into this one on the back of two victories, their confidence level should be high. However, this could be the one banana skin in their December fixture list, as Chelsea, no matter what kind of form the London club are in, will always give United a good run for their money. Technically, Chelsea are the better side than Manchester United, they have the edge in that technical ability, and with the home impetuous, it could be the downfall of United at Stamford Bridge. Manhcester Untied just haven’t been able to figure out Chelsea well enough over the past few seasons, even though they have had some successes against the Blues. You have to go back to 2002 to find the last victory for the Red Devils at Stamford Bridge in the league. Chelsea are one of the few teams that can technically bully United out of points. There is a lot of respect between the two teams, and this match will simply be the big highlight of December in the Premier League. Chelsea will probably be enjoying their Christmas just a little more than United after this one.
Prediction: Loss 15/13 at Bwin
Other: Manchester United 11/5 at Bwin, Draw 23/10 at Bwin

Manchester United v Sunderland, Sunday, December 26th

United will get straight back on their horse though and take their frustrations out on Sunderland. Former United man Steve Bruce really has Sunderland going well at the moment. This is the side which trounced Chelsea so convincingly at Stamford Bridge not so long ago. However, that does not happen as easily at Old Trafford. Sunderland are a good footballing side right now, and deserve a lot of respect for what they are doing. They are in seventh place in the league at the moment and looking pretty good value for their money. However, you are unlikely to see Manchester United lose two matches in a row, so this one also has to go down as a home victory. It may be a close, tough battle, but that is what Manchester Untied are experts at getting through at home.
Prediction: Win

Birmingham v Manchester United, Tuesday, December 28th

To cap things off for 2010, Manchester United go to Birmingham City and could rub a little more salt into Chelsea’s wounded pride this year. Chelsea lost against Sunderland and Birmingham, so Manchester United will face decent opposition here as well. However, like Sunderland, Birmingham are draw specialists, and you aren’t going to see them score hatfuls of goals. This just works into the favour of Manchester United, who have plenty of goals in them, and it is hard to shut them out. With Rooney back to full fitness, this is the game that United will pick off, where other title challengers will stumble and fall. United are gaining momentum by this point again, and will they be well on their way to a league title? They may not come through December unbeaten, but they will be in the driving seat to win the Premier League.

Chelsea Premier League Betting – December Preview

Premier League Betting

There are some huge matches ahead in December, which will have a huge bearing on the outcome of the Premier League. Here, in the first of our series, we take a look at some of the key fixtures to look out for, for Chelsea’s league campaign during December. There is a tough month ahead for Chelsea, against top level opposition in the Premier League, and things are not going to be easy for them. Chelsea have to face four of the top six in the Premier League as it stands heading into December. They are seriously struggling for form going into it, and the lack of depth in the squad has been highlighted with injuries to key players. Chelsea need a fit John Terry, a fit Frank Lampard and need their powerful strike force to start humming along again at a fair old rate. Will Carlo Ancelotti still be in a job come January? Will Chelsea be out of the title race come January? Here we cast an eye over the early ante-post betting prices for Chelsea’s December matches, along with predictions of how this will all play out for the London Club.

Chelsea: Premier League Outright Betting Odds

Chelsea really could not have been given a tougher month than what is in store for them during December. It is going to be brutal, and with them in the current slump that they are in, there is little time to turn things around. The Premier League really could be won or lost for Chelsea during December. Chelsea are without a win in three games now. That is unheard of at Stamford Bridge. There are rumours that manager Carlo Ancelotti will not be in charge much longer, as owner Roman Abramovich doesn’t like the way the Blues are playing. Chelsea are struggling with injuries, although John Terry and Frank Lampard are allegedly not too far away from full fitness. They will need them. Suddenly the outright betting odds on the Blues are not looking very rosy at all. They have blown a five point lead, and have fallen back into second place, and now they have one of the worst looking fixture lists that they could possibly want for end of the year. This is a time which really will make or break Chelsea. This is probably the best time to have a punt on them though, as they are better value than they have been for some time.
13/8 at Victor Chandler

Chelsea v Everton, Saturday December 4th

It all kicks off against Everton for Chelsea. It was the Toffees who ruined Chelsea’s home party in the league last year, having the audacity to go to Stamford Bridge and take a point of the Blues. This will not be an easy match, especially with an out of sorts Chelsea, however they get Michael Essien back which will make a difference. There is a chance that Frank Lampard will return, but he may be kept back for the tougher challengers are ahead. Everton aren’t great, but they are resilient and tough to break down, and Chelsea are struggling for goals at the moment. However, this is probably the most crucial match of December, as this is the one which could rally kick start everything. A failure here will be a major disaster in terms of confidence for the matches ahead. Chelsea have a great record against the Toffees though, and they should be able to get through this one, as Stamford Bridge is still something of a fortress.
Prediction: Win 2/5 at BetFred
Other: Draw 15/4 at Bet365, Everton 17/2 at Paddy Power

Tottenham v Chelsea, Sunday, December 12th

The first of two London derby matches for Chelsea then follows. While Chelsea have historically dominated proceedings between the two clubs, Spurs are better than they have been for many, many years and turned the tables on the Blues last season. White Hart Lane will not be an easy place to go to and earn a result, as Chelsea have lost their last two League matches there. There are no gimme’s in the Premier League anymore, and Tottenham, who are full of confidence, will be keen to shut this one down and cause Chelsea more misery on the road. The record between the two sides are incredibly close at White Hart Lane when they meet actually, with Spurs having won 26 of the matches, and Chelsea winning 25. Very close to call and a tough away match for Ancelotti and his Blues.
Prediction: Draw 23/10 at Bwin
Other: Chelsea 6/5 at Bwin, Tottenham 21/10 at Bwin

Chelsea v Manchester United, Sunday, December 19th

This is the big one, the showdown between the two Premier League title challengers. The defending Champions have an inordinate amount on stuff on their plate in December, and how badly will they be reeling by the time Manchester United come to town? This really has to be a must win match for Chelsea, whatever happens in the two preceding games to this one. Come the end of the season, if Chelsea are going to successfully defend their Premier League crown, then they are going to have to do it again at the expense of Alex Ferguson and his Red Devils. At the moment though, this is the match which seems most winnable for Chelsea. For the above reasons, we should see Chelsea at their best again when they face Manchester United and should be stronger in terms of personnel being fit. It is United who have the better winning percentage when the sides meet at Stamford Bridge however. United have won 43% of the matches there, with Chelsea picking up just 30%. It’s been eight matches at the Bridge though since United picked up a victory, so the Blues will win out on this one again and keep the pressure on their rivals.
Prediction: Win 15/13 at Bwin
Other: Man Utd 11/5 at Bwin, Draw 23/10 at Bwin

Arsenal v Chelsea, Sunday December 27

No sooner have you played Tottenham and then Manchester United, then you have to go off and face another tough match. Chelsea head to the Emirates after Christmas, and will look to press home another victory over the Gunners this season. Chelsea won 2-0 at Stamford Bridge, and that is exactly what they will need again as the two sides clash. Arsenal have been a little bit vulnerable at home though this season, so Chelsea really should have three points in their targets. Come this match, Chelsea should have discovered some form and some confidence. They should have stopped the defeats coming, and if they get through this match and the ones above unbeaten, then December won’t have been too bad on them. Chelsea have dominated Arsenal over the past two seasons both home and away, are on a four match league winning streak against Gunners, with Arsenal just scoring one goal in reply to Chelsea’s eleven. Put another three points in the Chelsea title race bag.
Prediction: Win

Chelsea v Bolton, Wednesday, December 29

To round out the year, Chelsea may have been looking at this fixture as a bit of a breather after having to face Spurs, United and Arsenal during the holiday season. But no such luck, as Owen Coyle has turned Bolton into a top six club at the time of writing this. The Wanderers have only lost two matches this season, which is two less than Chelsea have. This is going to be another incredibly tough task for Chelsea, and if they have come this far they will really have to not let complacency set in. It is still back at the Bridge and that will give the Chelsea players enough to get through this one. There could be a bit of a sting in the tail though from Bolton after Chelsea have endured a tough December, and could catch the Blues a little off their game.
Prediction: Draw

Start of December Premier League:
Manchester United: P15 W8 D7 L0 Pts 31 (1st)
