Nations League Tips & Predictions – 15th November 2018

European Football
Nations League Betting Tips - November 15th, 2018 The inaugural UEFA Nations League Group Stage is coming to an end. It has really been hard to gauge just who has been taking it all that seriously really. The action starts up again on Thursday, November 15th and really the big game there will be Croatia v Spain which is in England’s group. There are plenty of other issues around in the tournament which we can take a look at for our Nations League betting tips & predictions.

Austria v Bosnia

This is in B3 and it has all been a bit one-sided. Bosnia have the chance to wrap up the group which they can do if they take a point against Austria on Thursday. They are three wins from three so far and this is their final game of the group campaign. So all that they need to do is avoid defeat and given how efficient they have looked so far, they are worth backing to get it. In their one away game in the group so far they took a win out at Northern Ireland 2-1 but they took a clean sheet in their other group games on home soil in wins over the Irish and the Austrians. This rematch certainly has the look for being a game which ends as a low-scoring affair. Austria’s two matches so far have both been settled by a 1-0 scoreline (W1 L1) and given the visitors just need a night of caution it’s hard to see this being too exciting. The previous head to head is even as well with one win each and two drawn games. None of those previous four made it above 2.5 goals. Bosnia just need to keep things tight and so far Austria haven’t lit up the goalscoring charts in the Nations League. Therefore under 2.5 goals at 4/5 odds looks a decent proposition* (betting odds taken on November 11th, 2018 at 5:27 pm).

Belgium v Iceland

Belgium look on course to book their spot in the Nations League Finals from A2. They have won both of their games played so far in the group which leaves them level on points with Switzerland, with the Swiss having played one game more. Iceland are out of the picture with no points from their three games played so far and their defence has been all over the place, to say the least. Iceland have conceded eleven goals in their three games so far and this is their toughest game to come. Belgium should collect three points out of this without breaking too much of a sweat in the context of things and they are such a short odds-on price they aren’t even worth looking at in the match outright. This should be easy enough for the Belgians on home soil against a disinterested side who are already relegated from the group. The Belgium -2 Asian Handicap should be a decent enough option at 21/20 given how badly the Icelandic defence has melted away so far in the group.

Greece v Finland

Finland are the surprise leaders of C2 and they have the chance to seal top spot in avoiding defeat out in Greece on Thursday night. Finland already have won four from four and this is their penultimate game. They go into six points clear of second-placed Greece so a point does the trick for them. Earlier in the group when they hosted Greece, Finland came away with a 2-0 win and that is four clean sheets in four from them. It’s a been a pretty big upset in group really and Greece have to come out and leave it all on the line. They have only played one home game so far, beating Hungary 1-0. That’s just the three goals in four games that they have come up with. Do they have enough to stop the Finns? Finland have won their last two games against Greece without conceding and are unbeaten in three against them. Finland are on a five-game winning streak and a Finland-Draw Double Chance at 21/20 odds* (betting odds taken on November 11th, 2018 at 5:27 pm) has to tickle the fancy.

Hungary v Estonia

This is the other game in C2 on Thursday night and this is a fight against relegation. Estonia are bottom with just the one point on the board, which was earned against Hungary in a pretty exciting 3-3 draw. Hungary are three points better off. In League C the bottom side of Groups 1, 2, 3 and 4 all get relegated while the lowest ranked third-placed team of Groups 2, 3 and 4 will also get the drop (that’s because there are only three teams in C1). So nice and simple then. Basically, Hungary just need to pick up a point in this home game to ensure that they don’t get automatic relegation. Three points would ease a lot of pressure about not finishing as the lowest of the third-placed teams. Hungary have scored exactly five goals in each of their last two home games against Estonia and have won three of the last four against them. We are going with the Hungary to win to nil option at 20/21 odds* (betting odds taken on November 11th, 2018 at 5:27 pm).

Belgium v Iceland Predictions & Betting Odds – 15th November 2018

European Football
Belgium v Iceland Betting Tips - Nations League, 15th November 7.45pm The Red Devils play their penultimate Nations League group stage game and a win puts them firmly in control to win the group. They are level on points with Switzerland on six points but have played a game less than the Swiss. Belgium and Switzerland will meet on November 18th in a promotion showdown. Iceland have already been relegated from the group after a miserable showing. Read our predictions for Belgium v Iceland.

Belgium News and Form

Belgium have gone W3 D1 in their last four games. Their last fixture ended in a 1-1 draw at home against the Netherlands in an international friendly. Since their World Cup Semi Final loss to France, the Red Devils are W4 D1 Belgium have scored at least two goals in four of their last five games. The Red Devils have scored exactly three goals in each of their previous games against Iceland. A Belgium 3-0 correct score option is at 11/2 with only the 2-0 result for them shorter at 9/2 odds* (betting odds taken on November 11th, 2018 at 8:55 pm). Romelu Lukaku has scored exactly two goals in each of his last two Nations League games. Belgium have a clean sheet in three of their last five games. Belgium to win to nil is at 8/11 odds* (betting odds taken on November 11th, 2018 at 8:55 pm). Regardless of the outcome in this game, Belgium would only need to play out a draw against Switzerland in their final group stage match to win the group.

Belgium v Iceland Head to Head

Belgium have faced Iceland twice before Belgium won 3-1 at home in a 2014 friendly Belgium won 3-0 away in the Nations League back in September

Iceland News and Form

Iceland haven’t been in form having failed to pick up a single point from their three Nations League games so far. Iceland have scored one goal and conceded eleven in their three Nations League fixtures. They have already been relegated from the group. Iceland are D1 L3 in their last four games, the draw coming in a friendly against France in early October. Iceland are winless in their last eleven games played Iceland have lost eight of their last eleven games (D3) They have scored in seven of their last ten fixtures (competitive and friendly) Both teams NOT to score in this fixture is at 5/4 odds though* (betting odds taken on November 11th, 2018 at 8:55 pm) Iceland are W2 D2 L3 in their last seven away games Each of Iceland's last five games have made it above the 2.5 goal line Over 2.5 goals is 8/13 odds* (betting odds taken on November 11th, 2018 at 8:55 pm).

Belgium v Iceland Predictions

Belgium to win: The Red Devils should collect the win and the straightforward option on them is achieve the mission with a clean sheet as well. It should really be that comfortable for them as there is gulf in class between the two nations at the moment

Iceland v Switzerland Predictions & Betting Odds – 15th October 2018

European Football
Iceland v Switzerland Betting Tips - UEFA Nations League, 15th October 7.45pm This is going to be a big game for Switzerland who have already beaten Iceland heavily in the group. They slipped to a loss against Belgium on the weekend, so if they harbour hopes of winning the group, they need points out of this. Iceland have been in poor form but played out a great draw against France in a midweek friendly. Read our predictions for Iceland v Switzerland.

Iceland News and Form

Iceland nearly pulled off a shock win out in France in a friendly in midweek. They somehow found themselves 2-0 up against a labouring Les Bleus with half an hour left on the clock. It wasn’t to be for them though as they conceded two goals in the final five minutes of the game for a draw. Still, not many punters would have backed them to have gotten even that out of the game. Iceland have suffered a 6-0 loss against Switzerland and a 3-0 loss against Belgium so far in the Nations League. Both teams not to score may be the way to go here for iceland v Switzerland betting* (betting odds taken on October 12th, 2018 at 3:17 pm). So relegation from their Nations League group looks a strong probability and they have failed to score in three of their last five games now. That brace against France really was out of the blue. Defensively they are conceding a lot and have been doing so for a while. The last clean sheet they earned was in a 2-0 win over Kosovo in their final World Cup 2018 group stage qualification match. That’s a thirteen without a clean sheet and they have conceded at least two goals in nine of their last eleven. A Switzerland 2-0 correct score is at 15/2 odds* (betting odds taken on October 12th, 2018 at 3:17 pm).

Switzerland News and Form

Switzerland romped to that big 6-0 win over Iceland in their opening Nations League group. They couldn't quite follow up on the at as they were denied a point in a 2-1 loss against Belgium over the weekend. So they need to keep their hopes of promotion alive with three points in this one before meeting Belgium in their final group stage match later in the year. A narrow loss against Belgium is no shame at all of course but the Swiss have now lost their last two games by a one-goal margin and three of their last four (W1). That little dip in form has gone against the grain as they were in good shape. Switzerland had lost just one of their previous thirteen games (competitive and friendly) so we're shaping up well. Still, even with that dip, they were competitive against Belgium and are favourites here. The game to go under 2.5 goals is at 10/11 odds* (betting odds taken on October 12th, 2018 at 3:17 pm). The Swiss just basically need to do whatever they can to win this. They may have only one clean sheet in their last seven games, but that was against Iceland. They are W3 D1 L2 in their last six away from home (not counting the World Cup 2018).

Iceland v Switzerland Head to Head

It was a big 6-0 win that Switzerland achieved over Iceland when they met in the first Nations League meeting back in September. Their only two previous meetings before that were during 2014 World Cup qualifying. Switzerland took a 2-0 away win before a thrilling 4-4 draw between them in the second fixture.

Iceland v Switzerland Predictions

Switzerland to win: The Swiss will know the importance of landing maximum points in this one. That staves off any relegation concerns and keeps them in touch with Belgium. We can see them finding a way to win it.

France v Iceland Predictions & Betting Odds – 11th October 2018

European Football
France v Iceland Betting Tips - International Friendly, 11th October 8.00pm France will go back into Nations League action as they face a rematch against Germany next week in a heavyweight showdown. Before that, they get a chance to stretch their legs without any pressure as they face Iceland. Iceland look well out of sorts at the moment, struggling along on a losing streak. Read our predictions for France v Iceland.

France News and Form

France got a good draw out in Germany under their belt in their opening Nations League fixture. They followed that up with an unexpected home win over the Netherlands. So there has been no come-down from them after the highs of the World Cup success in the summer. They are strong, reliable and stacked with depth. The last defeat which they suffered was back in March in a friendly against Colombia. France have plenty of scoring power, but this is a friendly and we are looking under 2.5 goals at 7/5 odds* (Betting Odds were taken on October 8th, 2018 at 3:34 p.m.). That’s largely because we don't see Iceland scoring. France too are going to save themselves for their upcoming rematch against Germany in the Nations League in midweek. So there is no great importance or urgency over this one, so they aren’t going to be in top gear. Because of that, a comfortable France 2-0 correct score option is at 5/1 odds* (Betting Odds were taken on October 8th, 2018 at 3:34 p.m.) in the correct score market. France have collected at least two goals in all but two of their last half a dozen games. So there is a small trend running. France have netted eleven goals in their last three home games against Iceland as well.

Iceland News and Form

It is not a good period that Iceland are going through at the moment. They seem to be on a bit of a decline after such a strong couple of years. They have been having problems with injuries, as well as a new manager in place. They have lost their last four in a row now and that includes some heavy losses in their Nations League openers, a 6-0 defeat against Switzerland and a 3-0 loss against Belgium. Defensively they are pretty weak and on top of that aren’t offering much creatively going forward. With that in mind, a France to win to nil is at 8/11 odds* (Betting Odds were taken on October 8th, 2018 at 3:34 p.m.) and that is one of our leading options in France v Iceland predictions. Iceland are on a nine-match winless streak of form at the moment, losing seven of those. They have scored in just one of their last four too. There is very little there to back them getting anything out of this game against the World Champions.

France v Iceland Predictions

France to win: The gulf in class should be evident on the night between these two even though it is just a friendly. Iceland just aren’t there at the moment and France to win to nil appeals massively in our France v Iceland predictions.

Iceland v Belgium Predictions & Betting Odds – 11th September 2018

Football Betting
Iceland v Belgium Betting Tips - Nations League, 11th September 7.45pm There was a really poor start from Iceland to their Nations League campaign as they were torn to shreds by Switzerland over the weekend. That leaves them in a massive hole in the group as they have to take on Belgium now. This is the first action in the competition for the Red Devils, but they put four goals past Scotland in an easy friendly win as a warm-up. Read our predictions for Iceland v Belgium.

Iceland News and Form

Iceland had a match to forget over the weekend as they were torn apart by Switzerland in their opening Nations League match. Iceland lost 6-0 in a bruising result. They do have a new head coach and they are missing several key players from their starting lineup as well. So for this one, there is no real reason to expect that they are going to be a lot stronger and both teams not to score is at 4/6 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from September 7th, 2018 at 5:39 p.m.). That looks like a strong place to start for our Iceland v Belgium predictions. Iceland overall are just not carrying any form with them at the moment. Their form in their last eight games reads D2 L6. After such a positive couple of years of action, their standards have fallen away. Defensively they are just not strong at the moment because in seven of their last nine games they have conceded at least two goals. Just because of that along it may be worth looking over 2.5 goals at Paddy Power for 5/6 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from September 7th, 2018 at 5:39 p.m.).

Belgium News and Form

Belgium warmed up for this Nations League opener for them, by pounding Scotland 4-0 in a friendly at Hampden Park. The Red Devils are just in terrific form at the moment and they had that great run at Russia 2018 as well, reaching the semi-finals there. Since early September 2016, they have lost just one game and that was against France in the World Cup semi-final back in the summer. So there is no way we see an upset playing itself out in this competitive match. Romelu Lukaku is the 3/1 first goalscorer favourite for the game* (Betting Odds were taken from September 7th, 2018 at 5:39 p.m.). He was on the scoresheet against Scotland. The Red Devils have a lot of scoring power. They have returned at least two goals in nine of their last twelve games. Iceland frankly don't look to be too much of a threat at the moment and therefore in the correct score market we are looking at a Belgium 3-0 option at 8/1 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from September 7th, 2018 at 5:39 p.m.). Belgium did score three goals past Iceland in their only previous meeting. After seeing what Switzerland did to Iceland on the weekend, Belgium should be chomping at the bit to get going in this one.

Iceland v Belgium Head to Head

This will be just the second meeting between Iceland and Belgium. The previous one was a 2014 international friendly back in 2014. Belgium were comprehensive winners there, banking a 3-1 win with Romelu Lukaku getting on the scoresheet.

Iceland v Belgium Betting Odds*

Iceland v Belgium Predictions

Belgium to win: The Red Devils looked positive and hungry for success as they tore into Scotland in a recent friendly. Iceland are in a tough spot at the moment with a new head coach and an understrength side. Belgium to win to nil leads our Iceland v Belgium predictions.

Switzerland v Iceland Predictions & Betting Odds – 8th September 2018

European Football
Switzerland v Iceland Betting Tips - UEFA Nations League, 8th September 5.00pm After 2018 World Cup campaigns for both, these two will meet in the opening action of Group 2 in League A of the UEFA Nations League. That group also contains Belgium. Switzerland are going to be keen to get everything out of this home fixture as possible, but you have here two pretty stable, reliable and consistent sides. It should be a close battle. Read our predictions for Switzerland v Iceland.

Switzerland News and Form

The Swiss go with home advantage in this opening Nations League encounter so the initiative will be on them to come out with a strong start. The Swiss had a fairly easy World Cup 2018 qualification group and they made light work of it really. At the tournament itself in the summer, they made it out of their group, helped by a draw against Brazil but then were eliminated in the round of sixteen by Sweden. Still, the Swiss are W8 D4 L2 in their last fourteen matches, which isn't a bad return at all. They have also found the back of the net in seven for their last eight games played. Defensively they haven’t been watertight by any stretch of the imagination, however for our Switzerland v Iceland predictions, they are worth backing to win to nil at 6/4 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from September 5th, 2018 at 5:19 p.m.). That will simply be because Switzerland are on home soil against an Iceland side which has been robbed of a few key players. Switzerland are a bit thin on the ground in terms of attacking options themselves and even though he didn’t have a great World Cup Haris Seferovic is probably going to be their frontman. There’s no way we see a lot of goals cropping up in this one and therefore it is worth expecting this one go under 1.5 goals.

Iceland News and Form

Iceland have some key players missing for their trip to Switzerland. In the midfield, both captain Aron Gunnarsson and Johann Berg Gudmundsson are out injured. They will also be without their main striker Alfred Finnbogason who is also sidelined for this. Iceland also are going into a new era following a change of head coach with Erik Hamren taking over. So they are not going to be quiet at full strength for this one which could limit them in this Nations League opener. Both teams not to score is at 4/7 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from September 5th, 2018 at 5:19 p.m.) and definitely is one of our top Switzerland v Iceland predictions. It has been a tremendous couple of years for Iceland. They had that brilliant run at Euro 2016 in getting to the quarter finals and then they turned around and qualified for the World Cup for the first time ever. But this is a tricky time for them with injuries and change of head coach. Their form isn’t there either really because Iceland have won just one of their last ten games played now (D3 L6) so they are going to have to dig deep. To their credit, they have only failed to score in one of their last six games, but the timing just feels off for them here and they could struggle on the road.

Switzerland v Iceland Head to Head

The two previous meetings between Switzerland and Iceland were during World Cup 2014 qualification and Switzerland produced four points from the two games. They took a win on the road and then were held in a thrilling 4-4 draw back on home soil. That was after having lead 4-1 at one point in the second half.

Switzerland v Iceland Betting Odds*

Switzerland 8/11 Draw 23/10 Iceland 17/4 * (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on September 5th, 2018 at 5:19 p.m.)

Switzerland v Iceland Predictions

Switzerland to win: We are going to stick with the Swiss on home soil to come up with maximum points. They carry more of an attacking threat than Iceland do and we are going to push for Switzerland to win to nil as well. Iceland haven’t been producing that well in front of goal lately.

UEFA Nations League A Group 2 Winner Odds & Predictions

European Football
Belgium, Switzerland and Iceland League A Group 2 preview Not too much of a surprise that the Belgians are going to running as strong odds-on favourites to the tune of 2/5 at bet365* (betting odds taken on September 1st, 2018 at 11:30 pm) to win this group at all. The Red Devils enjoyed a pretty good summer at the World Cup and they will be expected to be unopposed on their march to winning this group over Switzerland and Iceland.

League A Group 2 Winner Odds*

Belgium 4/9 Switzerland 11/4 Iceland 8/1 * (betting odds taken from bet365 on September 1st, 2018 at 11:30 pm)

Belgium

The Red Devils had that impressive to run to the World Cup semi-finals in the summer, eventually ending up third in the tournament. That was a great return, including knocking out Brazil, after such an easy qualification campaign to get there. With Roberto Martinez pretty much keeping the squad as it is, it’s hard not to see them go out and win this group. Belgium are 5/1 odds* (betting odds taken on September 1st, 2018 at 11:30 pm) to win the entire UEFA Nations League 2018 outright and given that they should comfortably be in the final four from League A, then they aren’t a bad price at all. They also have Romelu Lukaku who is one of the front runners to be the top scorer in the Nations League but Eden Hazard has started the new Premier League season much brighter than him.

Switzerland

Switzerland couldn't get past the round of sixteen at the 2018 World Cup although they can proudly hold their heads high and point to their 1-1 draw with Brazil in the group stage. They were eliminated in the first round of knockout matches by Sweden. The Swiss aren’t a bad side really and have their key man in Xherdan Shaqiri and they shape up pretty well. They have a lot more of a positive set up in place than they used to have.

Iceland

Iceland were just terrific at the 2018 World Cup despite only getting a point in the group stage, which came against Argentina in their opening match. They just couldn't find the goals to follow it up and add to that fantastic reward of a point. Iceland fell short against Nigeria and Croatia although it’s fair to say that they weren’t really outplayed heavily in either of those matches.

UEFA Nations League Winner Odds*

Spain 4/1 France 4/1 Belgium 5/1 Germany 5/1 Italy 9/1 England 12/1 Portugal 14/1 Croatia 16/1 Switzerland 33/1 Poland 50/1 Netherland 50/1 Iceland 88/1 * (betting odds taken from bet365 on September 1st, 2018 at 11:30 pm) [button bookmaker="bet365"]

Prediction

It should be a straight shot for Belgium here to winning the group. The other two are fairly evenly matched and could provide stubborn more than threatening opposition for the Red Devils. It may be a decent call in going for a straight forecast in this one with Belgium first and Switzerland to finish second. They may just have that extra edge going forward to get past Iceland.

Iceland v Croatia Predictions & Betting Odds – World Cup 2018

Iceland v Croatia- World Cup 2018
Iceland v Croatia Betting Preview - World Cup 2018 26th June - 7.00 p.m Group D has produced some of the most exciting matches at the 2018 World Cup so far and we are hoping that continues. Croatia have six points on the board and with such a good goal difference they are likely to end up as group winners. Iceland have to win this game and hope things in the Nigeria v Argentina goes their way as well.

Iceland News and Form

Iceland will be feeling the heat in this one because only a win sets them up with a chance of moving through to the next round. That would be some performance if they could pull it off. After their brilliant 1-1 draw with Argentina in their opening group stage fixture, things fell apart for them in a 2-0 defeat against Nigeria and that will have been a hammer blow of a result for Iceland. If they could have won that and it was looking like their easiest game of the group, then they would have one huge foot in the round of 16. As it stands now everything is out of their own control. They have to win this and hope that Nigeria fail to beat Argentina. If Nigeria and Argentina draws then it will boil down to goal difference. You get the feeling that all of their good work against Argentina may end up being for nothing and that is such a shame for them. Iceland are not a team in form because they have taken just one victory in their last nine games played. They have suffered four defeats in their last six so they are going to have two shake all of that off and go for broke in this one. The big problem for Iceland is that they have been struggling for clean sheets because they haven’t managed one in any of their last nine games played. They are taking on such a good Croatia side in this one and the defensive frailties are going to be a huge concern. For our Iceland v Croatia prediction we are going with both teams not to score option at 4/5 odds with bet365* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 22nd, 2018 at 11:38 p.m.). [bbutton bookmaker="bet365"]

Croatia News and Form

Croatia have arguably been the best side of the group stage campaign so far, as they have rattled off five unanswered goals. Their display in their big 3-0 win over Argentina was just so impressive. That came after their 2-0 win over Nigeria. Their midfield is so good and it has been dominating their games for them. They have such quality in the middle of the park and Luka Modric has come up with a goal in both games so far for them, so he is worth considering in the anytime goalscorer market. Mathematically they need a point out of this to secure top spot, but that’s not likely to even be a factor at the end of the day. Even if they lost this it would need Nigeria to bang a few goals past Argentina for Croatia not the hold on to the top spot, such is their big goal difference advantage. At the end of the day then Croatia can coast a little bit in this one and save themselves for the knockout phase. They are good enough to keep Iceland at bay and under 2.5 goals is at 8/13 odds with bet365* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 22nd, 2018 at 11:38 p.m.).

Iceland v Croatia Head to Head

Croatia and Iceland were together in World Cup 2018 qualification and they traded home wins with a clean sheet during the campaign. Iceland won that qualification group ahead of Croatia. In the last four meetings, both teams have not scored in a match and overall in the head-to-head between Iceland and Croatia it is Croatia who are 4-1 ahead with one drawn game. During those previous meetings, Croatia have conceded just two goals in total. Iceland v Croatia World Cup 2018 Infographic

Iceland v Croatia Betting Odds*

Croatia 11/8 Draw 12/5 Iceland 9/4 * (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 23rd, 2018 at 00:03 a.m.)

Iceland v Croatia Predictions

We have highlighted the threat of Croatia before the tournament and we are going to stick with them completing the job of winning all three of the group stage matches. Iceland really missed the boat in their second fixture and against a confident Croatia side are likely to miss out. Croatia to win to nil is our top betting tip.

Nigeria v Iceland Predictions & Betting Odds – World Cup 2018

Nigeria v Iceland- World Cup 2018
Nigeria v Iceland Betting Preview - World Cup 2018 22nd June - 4.00 p.m All credit due to Iceland for producing a point against Argentina in their opening group match. That was some debut to the World Cup that the Icelanders made as they held their own well and deserved their point. Can they drive on and bag themselves three points against Nigeria which would keep them in the hunt for a qualification spot? The Africans need to pick themselves up after a lacklustre defeat against Croatia to open with. Read our Nigeria v Iceland predictions for more.

Nigeria News and Form

Nigeria opened their World Cup 2018 campaign with a loss against Croatia, going down 2-0 in the game. They just never really got themselves up and running at all and they didn’t show a tremendous amount of fighting spirit. That is a D1 L4 record that the Africans have posted in their last five games and that is going to leave them vulnerable for this fixture. They have scored in just two of their last five games as well. So this is likely going to be a low scoring game and under 2.5 goals at bet356 is at 8/15 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from June 19th, 2018 at 9:47 p.m.).

Nigeria v Iceland World Cup 2018 Infographic

So there has been no form from the Super Eagles and if they don't dig a little deeper here and push on for the win then they are going to be out of this tournament. This probably is going to be a fairly tight game and in the bet365 correct score market, there is decent value at 11/2 on the 1-1 draw* (Betting Odds were taken from June 19th, 2018 at 9:47 p.m.). Nigeria drew a lot of criticism in their defeat against Croatia because they simply dropped their heads and didn’t play with any confidence or commitment really. They will be outperformed by Iceland in those departments. [bbutton bookmaker="bet365"]

Iceland News and Form

What an introduction it was for Iceland to World Cup competition. In their first ever game at a World Cup, they held one of the pre-tournament favourites, Argentina to a 1-1 draw. They fully deserved the point that they worked so hard to get. Yes, they were on the back foot and camped in their own half for most of the game, but they remained organised and they played with tremendous spirit. Iceland did also look really good on the break because when the timing was right, they just poured forward and showed some cracks in the Argentinean defence. Throw on top of that their aerial height from set pieces and they will beat rehat in this game. The only concern about backing them outright to win the game is that they are not in winning touch, much like Nigeria. Iceland are only D2 L3 in their last five games played which isn't great and their defence has been vulnerable in that sequence. But they don’t look too likely to lose against Nigeria realistically and if they can get up a head of steam, there is a big three points on offer for them here. The bet365 first goalscorer market favourite is Alfred Finnbogason who is at 5/1* (Betting Odds were taken from June 19th, 2018 at 9:47 p.m.) and he had a great game up front holding the ball up against Argentina.

The best match bets of the World Cup group stage

World Cup 2018 Betting
We look at the first round of World Cup group fixtures and seek out the best possible value. The 2018 World Cup kicks off on Thursday 14 June, with Russia clashing with Saudi Arabia and we’re casting our eye over the first round of group games to hunt out the best value. The Russians are a terrible price to win this curtain-raiser considering they have a low FIFA ranking, although there are some better odds over the coming days should you want to strike some bets. URUGUAY look a decent shout at 4/7 odds with bet365* (betting odds taken on June 5th, 2018 at 2:19 a.m.) for the other Group A opener if the South American side can tame Mohamed Salah and his Egyptian teammates. La Celeste have * (betting odds taken on June 5th, 2018 at 2:19 a.m.) in attack and will be out to make this a successful tournament in an easy section. The Uruguayans * (betting odds taken on June 5th, 2018 at 2:19 a.m.)in the CONMEBOL qualifying section and Oscar Tabarez has a wealth of experience within the ranks, while there are* (betting odds taken on June 5th, 2018 at 2:19 a.m.)coming through. * (betting odds taken on June 5th, 2018 at 2:19 a.m.) on 15 June when they face Portugal in their Group B opener. While the European champions will play defensively, the* (betting odds taken on June 5th, 2018 at 2:19 a.m.) to create chances and get an early three points on the board. An eye-catching * (betting odds taken on June 5th, 2018 at 2:19 a.m.) suggests that La Roja could be the team to beat this summer and there’s a bunch of midfield playmakers who can keep the ball and make life difficult. ICELAND are 8/1 odds at bet365* (betting odds taken on June 5th, 2018 at 2:19 a.m.) to beat Argentina in their Group D opener, with the European side looking to nullify Lionel Messi and the other dangerous forwards, with a potential shock on the cards for the European team. The Icelanders play with no fear and will consider the opener as the best time to be facing La Albiceleste who have well-documented defensive problems. CROATIA are a 17/20 poke with bet365* (betting odds taken on June 5th, 2018 at 2:19 a.m.) to beat Nigeria and there could be a gulf in class between the two teams, with the former likely to dominate the ball in midfield and it could see them come through comfortably. Luka Modric and Ivan Rakitic are particularly adept at controlling the game and their experiences for Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively provide a big advantage. SERBIA also look a big shout to overcome Costa Rica in the Group E curtain-raiser, with the Serbs likely to have a big following in Russia and they have an experienced spine of players which can help them enjoy a winning start.
