AFC Asian Cup Betting 2019 – Winner Odds & Predictions

Football Betting
AFC Asian Cup 2019 Preview There is some international tournament football betting action to look in early January. The new calendar year starts with a bang out in the east as the 2019 AFC Asian Cup starts on January 5th. The Tournament runs through to the conclusion on February 1st, so it’s a big event. It is bigger than ever actually as it has been expanded to 24 teams for the first time. The United Arab Emirates will be playing hosts for the second time and this is the 17th edition of the AFC Asian Cup. The AFC Asian Cup is held every four years. It is the Blue Samurai of Japan who are the outright favourites at 9/2 odds* (betting odds taken from January 2nd, 2019 at 1:59 pm)

AFC Asian Cup 2019 Odds*

Japan 9/2 South Korea 4/1 Iran 4/1 Australia 6/1 Saudi Arabia 10/1 United Arab Emirates 12/1 Iraq 14/1 Uzbekistan 25/1 Qatar 40/1 China 40/1 50/1 bar * (betting odds taken from January 2nd, 2019 at 1:59 pm) [bbutton bookmaker="bet365"] [toc heading_levels="2"]

AFC Asian Cup Preview 2019

The reigning champions are Australia who are 6/1 odds to return to the title* (betting odds taken from January 2nd, 2019 at 1:59 pm). That was the first title at the tournament for the Socceroos. Leading the way as the favourites are Japan. They have won the tournament on more occasions than any other nation, with four successes under their belt. Their most recent won was in 2011. Behind them, it is Saudi Arabia and Iran who have both won it three times each. South Korea are the only other nation to have won the tournament on more than one occasion

Qualification for the Knockout Phase

The top two in each group automatically get a berth in the first knockout stage. Extra time and a penalty shootout will be used to determine winners there if they are needed. Also for the first time, teams get to use a fourth sub if the game does go to extra time. VAR will be in full use for the tournament as well. Joining the two automatic qualifiers from each group in the knockout stage will be the four best Third Place Finishers from the six groups.

Recent winners

1996 - Saudi Arabia 2000 - Japan 2004 - Japan 2007 - Iraq 2011 - Japan 2015 Australia

Group A

United Arab Emirates, Thailand, India, Bahrain There are naturally going to be strong group-winner contenders in each of these groups with the seeded teams all being kept apart. The UAE are strong 1/6 odds-on favourites* (betting odds taken from January 2nd, 2019 at 1:59 pm) to get the win in this one as it’s expected to be a stroll in the park for them. However, they were upset in their 2018 World Cup qualification group, finishing fourth of sixth and missing out on the finals. But frankly, there is little to oppose them here. India may be worth a little flutter to follow them through. They are the highest-ranked team of the other three contenders.

Group B

Australia, Syria, Palestine, Jordan There is going to be clear favouritism towards Australia and Syria in this group. Australia are the reigning champions and have the experience and resources to contend well at the event again. It would be a major upset if the Socceroos didn’t top the group as they are the 1/6 odds-on favourites* (betting odds taken from January 2nd, 2019 at 1:59 pm). They did only scrape into the World Cup 2018 via a dramatic play-off against Syria though after finishing third behind Japan and Saudi Arabia in their qualification group. They will reunite with Syria who had that brilliant and unexpected run during the 2018 World Cup qualifiers. They should join Australia in the next round.

Group C

South Korea, China, Kyrgyzstan, Philippines This may be one of the more closely-ran groups, but only between the two top. South Korea and China are only separated by twelve places in the current FIFA World Rankings but it is the former who are the more accomplished of the two. South Korea took automatic qualification for the 2018 World Cup from their group, while China missed out finishing second-from-bottom in that same group. They were only three points behind South Korea though in the final standings, so it was pretty fine margins there. So this should be competitive and they will meet in the final round of group stage matches for what will probably be the fight for top spot. This is the first time that Kyrgyzstan and the Philippines have qualified for the Finals.

Group D

Iran, Iraq, Vietnam, Yemen Going based on the current FIFA World Rankings then Iran are the top side in the tournament. They are ranked at 36th in the world and the nearest to them in their group is Iraq who are 88th. Iran are one easily one of the stronger teams in the tournament and worth a look in the outright market where they are at 4/1 odds* (betting odds taken from January 2nd, 2019 at 1:59 pm). They are the ones who are the odds-on favourites to win their group. It should basically be a straight result of a 1-2 between them and Iraq in this one. Vietnam have qualified for the first time as a unified nation. It is the same for Yemen.

Group E

Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Lebanon, North Korea Saudi Arabia were straight qualifiers from the AFC for the 2018 World Cup and are the clear front-runners in Group E at the Asian Cup. This looks as if it will be a routine campaign for them really and this is just about as favourable of a draw as they could have gotten. Qatar, who came from Pot 2 of the draw finished bottom of their World Cup 2018 qualification group with only seven points from ten games. It’s hard to see anyone raising any kind of threat to Saudi Arabia in this group. It may be well worth look at Lebanon to follow Saudi Arabia through from the group just as long-shot.

Group F

Japan, Uzbekistan, Oman, Turkmenistan The obvious choice here for the group win is Japan who are the 9/2 tournament favourites* (betting odds taken from January 2nd, 2019 at 1:59 pm). Looking at the set up for the expanded edition it is difficult to really see any upsets happening in this group stage round. This is just going to be a scrap for who can join them in the next round from this group. With Turkmenistan being the lowest-ranked of all the teams in the tournament, there may be a decent contest between the other two who are only separated by one place in the FIFA World Rankings.

Iran v Portugal Predictions & Betting Odds – World Cup 2018

Iran v Portugal- World Cup 2018
Iran v Portugal Betting Preview - World Cup 2018 25th June - 7.00 p.m Portugal go into their final group stage match looking for something that will see them edge out Spain for the top spot in the group. They start the final round of group matches level on points and level on goal difference with the Spaniards. Iran are still in contention for a place in the round of sixteen, but they would need to win this. After a great performance against Spain in midweek, really getting under the skin of the Red Fury our Iran v Portugal predictions can see the underdogs doing the same to Portugal.

Iran News and Form

All credit due to Iran for their valiant effort against Spain, losing 1-0 but having more than one chance to get a draw out of the game. They were fully committed and if they produce the same intensity again than they could have a chance against Portugal in their final group stage match. They are still in with a shout of making it to the round of sixteen but they will need to win this game in order to do that. A draw will not be enough for them. They are taking on the European champions and Iran are underdogs here, but still, punters won’t be put off by an Iran-Draw double-chance option at 6/5 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from June 22nd, 2018 at 9:32 p.m.). Iran are W4 L2 in their last six games and we see this being tight so under 2.5 goals at bet365 is a good Iran v Portugal betting tip at 8/15 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from June 22nd, 2018 at 9:32 p.m.). If Iran were to get the win it is hard to imagine that it would anything more than a 1-0 success as they don’t look a massive threat in front of goal. Four of their last five games have been settled by a 1-0 scoreline. But they are well organised defensively and overall it is that defence which has helped them get a W8 D1 L3 record in their last twelve games. The question on everyone’s lips then, is can Iran keep Cristiano Ronaldo quiet? [bbutton bookmaker="bet365"]

Portugal News and Form

Cristiano Ronaldo, as was fully expected, has carried Portugal through this tournament. He has scored all four of their goals which has earned them four points so far. He got the only goal of the game against Morocco in their second match and that was early on in the fixture. He then disappeared totally in the game as the Africans threw down a stern challenge to the Portuguese. Portugal were second best in terms of chances and possession against Morocco in their second group stage game and they look as if they could be vulnerable here. Portugal have posted just a W1 D3 record in their last four games played so there could be some stresses in this game for them. The draw at 11/4 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from June 22nd, 2018 at 9:32 p.m.) in the match outright for this fixture just appeals so much. Of course with Ronaldo in the side Portugal will get chances and he is at 5/2 in the bet365 first goalscorer market* (Betting Odds were taken from June 22nd, 2018 at 9:32 p.m.) and that’s a pretty straightforward Iran v Portugal prediction. Portugal are now with just three wins in their last eight games (D4 L1) so the resilience is there, but is the winning touch? They do have to go for the win though if they want to get the top spot in this group from Spain. A draw secures qualification and a loss sends them home.

Iran v Portugal Head to Head

The one previous fixture between Iran and Portugal was a World Cup game back in 2006. Portugal came away with a 2-0 success on that occasion and Ronaldo got one of the strikes from the penalty spot. Iran v Portugal World Cup 2018 Infographic

Iran v Portugal Betting Odds*

Portugal 7/10 Draw 11/4 Iran 5/1 * (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 22nd, 2018 at 9:32 p.m.)

Iran v Portugal Predictions

Iran have something to play for and they will find Portugal less of a challenge than Spain were and that is because they will get more ball in this fixture. We ultimately don't see them getting the three points in the game, but Portugal, who struggled badly against Morocco could find themselves being held. An Iran +1 Asian handicap may be worth a look in the game.

Iran v Spain Predictions & Betting Odds – World Cup 2018

Iran v Spain- World Cup 2018
Iran v Spain Betting Preview - World Cup 2018 20th June - 7.00 p.m (Full time: 0:1 - goals: Costa 54') Spain go into this match looking to make up ground on Iran who are the early group leaders. Iran collected a dramatic late win over Morocco in their opening fixture and with Spain only managing a draw against Portugal, the Europeans are playing catch up. It would make things fascinatingly interesting in Group B if Iran were to find a way to avoid defeat in this one. But our Iran v Spain predictions can only see a success coming for the Europeans.

Iran News and Form

The Iranians are going to have one game plan going into this game. Sit back deep and look for the counter. That is actually what they did against Morocco in their opener and managed to get a 1-0 win deep into stoppage time. A point would not be a bad result for Iran in this game as that would leave them on four points with Spain on two. That would be something. This is a different degree of toughness for them even though Iran are W4 D2 in their last six games. Iran was at their biggest threat when they were on the break against Morocco and looked quite lively. However even though they have scored in each of their last six games, our predictions for Iran v Spain betting have them not getting on the board and both teams not to score at bet365 is at 3/10 odds* (Betting Odds were taken on June 18th, 2018 at 4:39 p.m.) which says how little of a threat they are expected to be. They aren’t going to see much of the ball. [bbutton bookmaker="bet365"]

Spain News and Form

Spain, once they had warmed up and had settled down, looked good against Portugal in their 3-3 draw. They did have a slow start though and their defence was opened up again which will be a bit of worry. That is nine goals in their last six games which Spain have conceded and you just don't expect that from them. Even with that having been said though, for our Iran v Spain predictions were are looking no further than 4/9 odds on Spain to win to nil* (Betting Odds were taken on June 18th, 2018 at 4:39 p.m.). You already know the pattern of the game, Spain controlling the ball for the entire game, Iran hoping for something on a quick break. Even though Spain didn't get their opening win they won’t be panicked and just need a good win and to chase goals in case the group win comes down to themselves and Portugal being level on points. So a boost in the goal difference department is going to lift the Spaniards and Spain did look good in going forward against Portugal in the second half. Diego Costa got a brace in the game and he is the bet365 first goalscorer favourite at 3/1 odds* (Betting Odds were taken on June 18th, 2018 at 4:39 p.m.) but their most threatening player really was Isco who looks very good and he is a very good 6/5 anytime goalscorer option* (Betting Odds were taken on June 18th, 2018 at 4:39 p.m.). It is likely that Spain will keep the ball away from Iran enough to get a clean sheet here and because of that, the options at the head of the correct score market looking appealing. A Spain 2-0 is the shortest-priced option but it is worth going the extra and looking at 5/12 odds on a Spain 3-0* (Betting Odds were taken on June 18th, 2018 at 4:39 p.m.) to get a 3-0 win on the board. The sooner they can make the breakthrough in this game the easier it is going to be for them.

Iran v Spain Head to Head

Iran and Spain have never met before in a match.

Iran v Spain Betting Odds*

Spain 1/6 Draw 7/1 Iran 22/1 * (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 18th, 2018 at 5:43 p.m.)

Iran v Spain Predictions

Spain created enough and looked strong enough going forward in their opening game against Portugal to suggest that they are not going to have any issues in dealing with Iran in this one. Iran were second best to Morocco in their opener and aren’t likely to see much of the ball. Our Iran v Spain prediction is a solid 2-0 correct score in favour of the Europeans.

Morocco v Iran Predictions & Betting Odds – World Cup 2018

Morocco v Iran - World Cup 2018
Morocco v Iran Betting Preview - World Cup 2018 15th June - 4.00 p.m (Full time: 0:1 - goals: Bouhaddouz (OG) 95´) This is a big game for both of these two nations at the 2018 World Cup because the rest of the fixtures they will face in Group B are going to be tough. With Portugal and Spain strong favourites to occupy the top two spots in Group B, this may be an early battle for pride and a positive start between Morocco and Iran.

Morocco News and Form

Morocco could get a good start here and continue some good form they have produced in 2018. Morocco have played five games this year winning four of them and drawing one. Their most notable victory of the year came come against Serbia and just looking at their overall form, they do look favourites to collect maximum points in this game.  They haven’t been goal shy either because they have netted at least two goals in all but two of their last eight games played. That is the kind of scoring that should be able to topple Iran’s challenge. In the bet365 correct score market, a Morocco 1-0 result is at 4/1 odds with a Morocco 2-0 option at 8/1 odds* (betting odds taken on June 11th, 2018 at 5:56 p.m.). Morocco won their qualification group in the CAF and they didn’t concede a single goal during their six games. Morocco v Iran - World Cup 2018 Infographic So you can have a look at Morocco to win to nil at 21/10 odds option at bet365* (betting odds taken on June 11th, 2018 at 5:56 p.m.). Over their last 10 games, Morocco are W8 D2 and so have some great form and some great confidence going as well. They have conceded in just one of their last seven games as well going back to the start of September 2017. Waiting for them in the group after this game will be Spain and Portugal and it is their game against Portugal which could end up being the pivotal one in the race for a qualification spot. So Morocco will want to get themselves off to a very positive start here against Iran. The Atlas Lions have a couple of main threats in their attack and they are Khalid Boutaïb and Ayoub El Kaabi who are worth looking out for in the anytime goalscorer market. [bbutton bookmaker="bet365"]

Iran News and Form

Iran were comfortable through the qualification campaign to reach the World Cup finals and they went unbeaten in their 10 matches, shipping only the two goals. Their form reads really well at the moment as it is W7 D1 L2 in their last 10 games played. However, this is one of those occasions where you have to look at the quality of opposition that they have faced and it hasn’t been great, Iran not really having met anyone of note in that sequence. Really their biggest games in that run was a draw against Russia in October last year and then a recent defeat against Turkey in a friendly. Team Melli may, therefore, struggle to get anything out of this game and looking at the state of the group this is their most winnable match. They do have the experience of head coach Carlos Queiroz there to help them through this but they look justifiable underdogs for this game. This is the fifth appearance in the World Cup finals for Iran and from their 12 previous World Cup fixtures they have produced only the one victory. Just because Morocco are in pretty decent shape and have faced tougher opposition than Iran have recently, both teams not to score is at 8/15 odds with bet365* (betting odds taken on June 11th, 2018 at 5:56 p.m.) as Iran may struggle to create any openings.

Morocco v Iran Head to Head

This will be just the second game between Iran and Morocco and the previous one was a 2002 international friendly which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Morocco v Iran Betting Odds*

Morocco 13/10 Draw 2/1 Iran 29/10 * (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 12th, 2018 at 4:18 a.m.)

Morocco v Iran Predictions

Morocco looks at the value option going into this one although Iran will prove to be a stubborn opponent. But Morocco are carrying more form than their opponents and should be able to go out and land themselves the three points but probably by nothing more than a one-goal margin.

Who will be best Asian team at the World Cup 2018?

World Cup 2018 Betting
Japan are the market leaders when it comes to Best Asian Team ahead of the 2018 World Cup Five teams qualified for the 2018 World Cup from the AFC section, with Australia forming part of the Asian Football Confederation in recent years.

Japan the best of the AFC?

The Socceroos are joined by Japan, South Korea, Iran and Saudi Arabia, with the Asian teams not expected to make a big impact on the tournament although one or two have a chance of reaching the knockout stage. Japan are the 7/4 favourites with BetVictor to be the best Asian team in Russia, with the Samurai Blue thrust into an open Group H that also includes Poland, Colombia and Senegal. However, Akira Nishino’s team might have their work cut out against quality opposition, with Japan having played thirteen World Cup matches aside from the 2002 tournament (where they had home advantage) and they won just two games.

Best Asian Team odds*

Japan 7/4 South Korea 10/3 Australia 10/3 Iran 10/3 Saudi Arabia 9/1 * (betting odds taken on June 13th, 2018 at 4:33 a.m.)

Iran with a lively chance

Therefore, we could look elsewhere and Iran strike us as having a lively chance in Group B despite being drawn in the same section as Spain and Portugal. Carlos Queiroz’s side will go up against Morocco in their 2018 World Cup opener and a crucial win in Saint Petersburg could see Iran looking to squeeze out a point against Spain before a potential crunch clash against the Portuguese. On first glance, Portugal look difficult to oppose after winning their World Cup qualifying group with nine wins and coming into them after winning the 2016 European Championship. However, they are over-reliant on Cristiano Ronaldo and the Real Madrid superstar is sure to be marked heavily. Iran are a 10/3 chance* (betting odds taken on June 13th, 2018 at 4:33 a.m.) to claim the top Asian team prize and they look to have the best chance of all.

Saudi Arabia

We are happy to draw a line through Saudi Arabia, despite the fact that they were the only Asian side to score in all ten matches during the final round of qualifying. The Saudis have also been given a fairly favourable group although hosts Russia are an unpredictable lot and Uruguay possess the class to go very deep in this tournament, while Egypt will pitch up with leading Premier League star Mohamed Salah.

Socceroos to struggle?

Australia look a touch short at odds of 10/3 wtih BetVictor* (betting odds taken on June 13th, 2018 at 4:33 a.m.) and the Socceroos are now managed by the experienced Bert van Marwijk, with the Dutchman having taken the Netherlands to the 2010 World Cup and he’s since had a spell with Saudi Arabia. The Aussies are in the same group as France, Denmark and Peru, with a tricky opener against Les Bleus likely to put the men in yellow on the back foot.

World Cup 2018 outright winner odds*

Brazil 4/1 Germany 5/1 Spain 6/1 France 6/1 Argentina 9/1 Belgium 10/1 England 16/1 Portugal 25/1 Uruguay 25/1 Croatia 33/1 Columbia 40/1 Russia 40/1 Poland 66/1 Denmark 100/1 Mexico 100/1 Switzerland 125/1 Sweden 150/1 Peru 150/1 Bar 200/1 * (Betting Odds taken from BetVictor on June 13th, 2018 at 4.18 a.m.)

The Taeguk Warriors

Finally, we have a South Korea team who are in the same group as a German side expected to win Group F at a canter, while Sweden and Mexico could be decent opponents for the Taeguk Warriors. However, we are sticking with Iran to potentially emerge through Group B thanks to the sort of stubborn defensiveness that could see them go through in second behind Spain.

World Cup 2018 Group B betting preview and prediction

World Cup 2018 Betting

Portugal look vulnerable in a tough Group B, with Iran and Morocco not there to make up the numbers

A lot of football fans will take a look at Group B and predict Spain and Portugal to march through to the last sixteen of the 2018 World Cup with the minimum of fuss.

However, the Iberian cousins meet in the opening game and it’s a match where Spain are heavy favourites to win, with La Roja determined to make amends for their horrible showing at the 2014 World Cup which actually started with a 5-1 thrashing at the hands of the Netherlands. Spain are 10/11 at bet365 to beat Portugal in their opener** (betting odds taken from bet365 on June 9th at 00:10 AM).

Portugal under pressure?

A defeat for Portugal in Sochi means there is pressure on Fernando Santos’ team for the clash with Morocco in Moscow, while they will be up against compatriot and former manager Carlos Queiroz in the final match against Iron.

Despite the presence of Cristiano Ronaldo in the squad, all of the above amounts to a negative against the current champions of Europe, with the team having scraped through the group stage of Euro 2016 before getting the better of Croatia, Poland, Wales and then France to triumph.

There is a clear over-reliance on Ronaldo despite the emergence of Andre Silva at AC Milan, with the former having carried the can for his country for several years, while the centre of defence includes veterans Pepe, Jose Fonte and Bruno Alves. Ronaldo is the 4/7 odds on favourite to top score for Portugal at the 2018 World Cup* (betting odds taken from bet365 on June 9th at 00:10 AM).

Red Fury look ready

Spain look a much brighter prospect and they’re our best idea of 2018 World Cup winners, with Julen Lopetegui packing the team with playmakers which reaped massive dividends in a friendly against Argentina where the Spanish claimed a 6-1 win.

While Alvaro Morata has had a poor season for Chelsea, Diego Costa is looking sharp for an Atletico Madrid side who have had another successful campaign, while Isco, David Silva, Andres Iniesta and Thiago in line to claim positions within the side.

Spain are priced very short to win Group B at 5/9 odds* (betting odds taken from bet365 on June 9th at 00:10 AM) and qualify, although we can consider one of Iran or Morocco to finish second. Out of them, we prefer the chances of the former who can lay claim to being the best side in Asia right now.

Group B To Qualify Odds*

Spain 1/10 Portugal 2/7 Morocco 3/1 Iran 11/2 * (betting odds taken from bet365 on June 9th at 00:10 AM)

Can Iran or Morocco qualify?

Carlos Queiroz has been in charge of the Iran national team since 2011 and he took them to the 2014 World Cup where they drew 0-0 with Nigeria before losing narrowly to Argentina in their second match, earning rave reviews for the way in which the eventual finalists were held.

It’s likely to be more of the same again for the Iranians, with the team being the second team to book their spot at the 2018 renewal and they actually went twelve matches without conceding a goal during their Asian World Cup qualifying.

Morocco are cut from similar cloth, with the African side regarded as third favourites in this group and they were another side to perform defensive heroics after not conceding a single goal during their six-match qualifying period.

Bosnia v Iran Predictions & Betting Odds – World Cup 2014

Bosnia v Iran
Bosnia v Iran World Cup 2014, 25th June Betting Preview It was expected that this match was going to come down to Bosnia needing to win it to guarantee a place in the knockouts. But the Europeans are out of Group F, but this isn’t quite a dead rubber, because against all the odds, Iran could make it through. Can there be, what would be a bigger shock than Costa Rica qualifying, in a huge act by Iran?

Bosnia v Iran Betting Tips

Iran need two things to happen though. They need to come out and do something which they haven’t done much of, and that is win. But in order to make it to the last sixteen, they would also need Nigeria to be defeated by Argentina in the other group game. Carlos Queiroz's Iran won huge plaudits in their last game, as they very nearly, deservedly it has to be said, held out for a 0-0 draw against Argentina. However, a brilliant Lionel Messi goal deep into injury time sent Iran crashing to defeat. There’s little question about their ability to defend, but do they have the power up front? While they have kept four clean sheets in their last six, they have only scored three goals in that period (two of them in one game). No other team qualified for the World Cup with conceding fewer goals than Iran did. They know how to defend and they are tough to break. They have lost just the one of their last six matches incidentally, that defeat against Argentina. During that sequence, they have taken good draws against Belarus, Montenegro and Nigeria in that run of form this year. Their best options going forward are Reza Ghoochannejhad at 11/4 and Ashkan Dejagah in the anytime goalscorer market. Their near miss against Argentina followed a big success for them in taking a point out of Nigeria in a 0-0 draw. Bosnia had been trading as second favourites behind Argentina to qualify from Group F. After a good performance in defeat against the Albiceleste, they blew their lines in their second match, as they lost to the out-of-form Nigeria in a bit of a shock upset. Bosnia just didn’t have a reply up front to falling behind. Still, Edin Dzeko is even money favourite in the anytime goalscorer market alongside Vedad Ibisevic, but, as with most teams who get knocked out early, there are likely to be team changes which could play to Iran's favour.

Bosnia v Iran Betting Odds

Bosnia 6/5, Draw 5/2, Iran 5/2 There is double or triple first goalscorer odds boosts available at Bwin for your World Cup betting. Place a successful first goalscorer bet and if your selection goes on to score a second or a third in the match, then you will get paid out double or treble winnings respectively!

Bosnia v Iran Predictions

Both are struggling for goals so the best way to cover this match would be to go under 2.5 goals. It doesn’t have the look of being a classic and could easily up 0-0. Can Iran pull off one of the biggest underdog stories and find a way to get through to the next round? It doesn’t look that likely unfortunately.

Odds on Iran to beat Bosnia | World Cup 2014

Bosnia v Iran
Bosnia's first appearance in a World Cup finals has been far from disgraceful. They were edged out by one of the tournament favourites (Argentina) 2-1 in their Group F opener while they were again beaten by one goal against Nigeria in round two. Nigeria held firm at the back against what I thought was a very good attacking line up from the Bosnians. However, a lack of fluidity up front and a reliance on set pieces will inhibit Bosnia from opening their World Cup account against Iran on Wednesday night. Iran have also struggled to score goals. They drew 0-0 with Nigeria in their opener, before holding Argentina goalless for over 90 minutes. Only a late wonderstrike from Lionel Messi prevented the Iranians from celebrating the greatest performance their national side has ever produced. This game will be tight and has all the hallmarks of being low-scoring. Iran may have a hunger about them because if they can beat Bosnia, and Argentina beat Nigeria by a couple of goals, the Iranians will progress to the next round. The current odds on Iran beating Bosnia are 13/5. Add to that record, Iran have a chance of qualifying from the group to the round of 16, then that should be motivation enough for them to nick a winner against an ordinary Bosnian outfit. Back a low-scoring 1-0 victory to Iran with a goal scored in the second period after a cagey first half.

Money Back if Sergio Aguero scores first in Argentina v Iran World Cup Betting

There looks to be a lopsided affair at the World Cup on Saturday, as punters get to enjoy some Argentina v Iran betting. The Albiceleste are running as overwhelming 1/8 favourites for the match in Group F. After opening with a 2-1 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina, which featured a brilliant goal from Lionel Messi, Argentina will be expected to put a few goals in the bag. Will Sergio Aguero, Lionel Messi and Gonzalo Higuain fill their boots? Will Argentina's incredible attack click and run up a big score against the Iranians, who are 25/1 underdogs to get three points out of this one? With Argentina having won ten and lost just one of their last 13 World Cup group matches, the joint second favourites in the World Cup 2014 outright winner market look as if they’ll run out a routine victory. You can take a Money Back Special at online betting site Betfair, if Sergio Aguero scores first. That is just one of the cashback triggers that are on offer at Betfair for Argentina v Iran betting, as it is featured as one of the Cashback Extra promotions. Argentina v Iran Predictions & Betting Odds – World Cup 2014

Argentina v Iran
Argentina v Iran World Cup 2014, 21st June Betting Preview It is back to Group F on Saturday and the focus on one of the favourites to win the tournament outright, Argentina. They had to labour a bit for their opening win, but they took three points and another three here would send them cruising towards the knockout stages. It’s unlikely that Iran are going to add to the point that they earned in their opener.

Argentina v Iran Betting Tips

This looks a total mismatch in Group F and it could show off Argentina’s array of attacking talent. Argentina are heavy favourites in this one, which is the first meeting at the World Cup between the two sides. They have met once before, a friendly back in 1977 ending in a 1-1 draw. The Albiceleste took a 2-1 win over Bosnia to open their World Cup account here, and did struggle a bit. It was just little things going astray, little passes and moves not coming off. When they do, Argentina should be immense. The South Americans have won ten and lost just one of their last 13 World Cup games, so they are in good shape at the finals. During that sequence of ten matches, they have conceded just the five goals and have scored 26. They have also won five of their last six matches played at World Cup finals, their loss in that sequence being their 4-0 defeat against Germany at the 2010 World Cup. Lionel Messi was on the scoresheet in their opening match, and he is 1/2 in the anytime goalscorer market. That was only his second World Cup goal. Sergio Aguero and Gonzalo Higuain are both odds-on in the anytime goalscorer market too. Any hint of an upset here? Well, Argentina are without a clean sheet in their last three matches. But they aren’t likely to get troubled by Iran. Iran have only won one of their ten previous World Cup matches, that coming against the USA in 1998. They have faced South American opposition just once before at the World Cup, and that was against Peru in which Iran lost 4-1. Defence is the key to Carlos Queiroz's Iran, it’s what got them to the finals, being the side to concede the fewest goals during qualification. It stood up to earn a 0-0 against Nigeria in their opening game and they are unbeaten in their last six (W2 D4). But they really haven’t got much to offer as an attacking unit, but it is still worth shooting over 2.5 goals for this one, as Argentina should win this comfortably.

Argentina 1/8, Draw 9/1, Iran 25/1 Throughout the entire World Cup, online betting site Unibet are running a Money Back promotion if there is a goal scored in injury time. Argentina v Iran Predictions

Should be a fairly routine victory for Argentina and it would be great for the World Cup if they bring their shooting boots to this one. Except Argentina to win to nil at 1/2 and they should be good for a two or three goal winning margin, even against the solid Iranian defence.

Iran v Nigeria Predictions & Betting Odds – World Cup 2014

Iran v Nigeria
Iran v Nigeria World Cup 2014, 16th June Betting Preview These two are likely to be making up the numbers in Group F behind Argentina and Bosnia most likely. For each of them, this is their most winnable match in the group, so it will be interesting to see how these two come out and deal with this situation. They will probably just have a go at this, in what is probably a battle for the wooden spoon.

Iran v Nigeria Betting Tips

The African nation will be favourites for this one but it will probably surprise many that the Super Eagles aren’t as overwhelming favourites that they may have been. Nigeria are winless in their last eight World Cup games (D2 L6) and it is the longest drought of all the 32 teams taking part in this year’s competition. The two sides have only met the once before, that was a friendly back in 1998 which the Super Eagles won 1-0. Nigeria scored just the three goals at the last World Cup and all of them were from a set piece. On the opposite end of things, more than half of the World Cup goals which they have conceded have come from set plays. Nigeria weren’t in great winning form ahead of the World Cup, although they have only lost one of their last six (W1 D4 L1). In their last five they have taken four draws (against Greece, Scotland, Mexico and Italy) and they lost against the USA in their final match before heading to Brazil. Tough to see where the goals are going to come from in this one and Emmanuel Emenike, Peter Odemwingie and Shola Ameobi are all 2/1 shots in the anytime goalscorer market. The fact that no-one is shorter priced speaks volumes about their lack of punch up top. This match doesn’t scream goals and therefore going under 2.5 goals is probably the way to swing this. Iran were the top scorers through the Asian World Cup qualifiers, so they may have something to offer. They are unbeaten in their last six matches, having posted a W3 D3 record. There isn’t a lot of strength going forward for them as they have netted three in their last four. However, defensively they have only conceded just the one goal in their last six matches, which is pretty impressive. Iran have won just one of their nine matches in the World Cup finals, which was against the USA back in 1988, and Carlos Queiroz’s side have never kept a clean sheet in a World Cup match. Could perhaps be value in seeing them sneak a draw against an average Nigeria side.

Iran v Nigeria Predictions

It is harder to pick out a winner in this one that it first appears. Nigeria are favourites to edge this though and are probably worth backing. They just have the better options up front, even though it looks as if they may have to work hard to try and break down Iran. Look for a low scoring match.
