Nigeria v Argentina Predictions & Betting Odds – World Cup 2018

Argentina v Nigeria- World Cup 2018
Nigeria v Argentina Betting Preview - World Cup 2018 26th June -3.00 p.m Argentina have been beaten up in this World Cup and yet they are still not out of the running to reach the knockout phase. A win would move them up into second place only if Iceland failed to beat Croatia. After Croatia destroyed Argentina that is going to be a tough game for the Icelanders to win, so there is still a big window of opportunity here for Argentina. It would certainly be some massive drama if they got three points here and actually for our Nigeria v Argentina prediction we are siding with the South Americans.

Nigeria News and Form

The Super Eagles have played themselves into a good position following there are 2-0 win over Iceland. Ahmed Musa got both goals in that win and therefore he is going to be worth a look in the anytime goalscorer market. This is a huge game for Nigeria as they will know that a victory over the South Americans will guarantee them a place in the round of 16. The draw would probably be enough to get them through as well. Nigeria are not a side who are carrying any kind of form whatsoever and that success over Iceland snapped a five-match sequence of four defeats and a draw that the Super Eagles were on. Ironically with Nigeria beating Iceland that actually helped Argentina in their chances of qualifying, so in a roundabout way that has put pressure on the Super Eagles. Despite pulling out a good second half performance against Iceland by and large Nigeria have looked pretty poor at this tournament and we are having a hard time seeing them have much of an impact in this game at all despite the huge prize that is within sight. Both teams not to score is at 10/11 odds with bet365* (Betting Odds were taken from June 23rd, 2018 at 00:03 a.m.). The Africans have failed to score in three of their last six fixtures. In their victory over Iceland it was the first time they have managed more than one goal in a game since beating Argentina 4-2 back in November last year. They had conceded in eight straight fixtures before they collected the clean sheet against Iceland. The draw is likely to be enough for Nigeria here as long as Iceland don’t beat Croatia by a healthy goal margin. This is a game where it may just be about the Africans hanging on and avoiding defeat because they will know that at least that keeps Argentina behind them. [bbutton bookmaker="bet365"]

Argentina News and Form

Argentina ’s qualification hopes were kept alive by Nigeria beating Iceland. It has been a terrible tournament for the Albiceleste some far though, having been held to a 1-1 draw by Iceland before losing heavily 3-0 against Croatia. That is just about as bad of a performance as you would ever see from the South Americans. Despite all of that they are still alive and a win in this fixture, coupled with Iceland losing against Croatia would see them squeeze through to the knockout phase. If Iceland were to win then Argentina would have to take victory by two more goals than what Iceland win their game by. Argentina have not looked a great side and in the bet365 correct score market an Argentina 1-0 result is at 6/1 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from June 23rd, 2018 at 00:03 a.m.). As a draw is likely to be enough for Nigeria the impetus will be on the South Americans come out and attack. Argentina have lost three of their last six games (W2 D1) and you could see their heads drop as Croatia powered their way past them. The Albiceleste have been really poor in the middle of the park and they have offered no service for Lionel Messi, who has had to come deep looking for the ball in both of their games so far. Argentina needs something special from their star man in this one and Messi is a 4/6 anytime goalscorer option for this game* (Betting Odds were taken from June 23rd, 2018 at 00:03 a.m.). Argentina were on a seven-match scoring streak before their loss against Croatia, scoring at least two goals in four of the games in that sequence. Can they avoid embarrassment in this crucial Group D qualification match? This is likely to be a tight affair and under 2.5 goals is at even money with bet365* (Betting Odds were taken from June 23rd, 2018 at 00:03 a.m.).

Nigeria v Argentina Head to Head

There have been eight previous matches between these two nations and Argentina are 5-2 ahead from those meetings. The last four games between have all been very high-scoring affairs, producing at least four goals in each fixture. With Argentina playing so poorly so far we don’t expect this one to get to that level. Argentina lost 4-2 against Nigeria in a friendly back in November and from their three previous World Cup meetings, Argentina have won all of them by a one goal margin. Nigeria v Argentina Predictions

It has been dreadful and clueless stuff from Argentina, but they do have those big game match winners and Nigeria are nothing more than an average side. You know that somewhere along the line Argentina are going to get chances in this one and we can see them pulling out by the skin of their teeth, a one goal margin victory. That is our bold Nigeria v Argentina prediction.

Nigeria v Iceland Predictions & Betting Odds – World Cup 2018

Nigeria v Iceland- World Cup 2018
Nigeria v Iceland Betting Preview - World Cup 2018 22nd June - 4.00 p.m All credit due to Iceland for producing a point against Argentina in their opening group match. That was some debut to the World Cup that the Icelanders made as they held their own well and deserved their point. Can they drive on and bag themselves three points against Nigeria which would keep them in the hunt for a qualification spot? The Africans need to pick themselves up after a lacklustre defeat against Croatia to open with. Read our Nigeria v Iceland predictions for more.

Nigeria News and Form

Nigeria opened their World Cup 2018 campaign with a loss against Croatia, going down 2-0 in the game. They just never really got themselves up and running at all and they didn’t show a tremendous amount of fighting spirit. That is a D1 L4 record that the Africans have posted in their last five games and that is going to leave them vulnerable for this fixture. They have scored in just two of their last five games as well. So this is likely going to be a low scoring game and under 2.5 goals at bet356 is at 8/15 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from June 19th, 2018 at 9:47 p.m.).

So there has been no form from the Super Eagles and if they don't dig a little deeper here and push on for the win then they are going to be out of this tournament. This probably is going to be a fairly tight game and in the bet365 correct score market, there is decent value at 11/2 on the 1-1 draw* (Betting Odds were taken from June 19th, 2018 at 9:47 p.m.). Nigeria drew a lot of criticism in their defeat against Croatia because they simply dropped their heads and didn’t play with any confidence or commitment really. They will be outperformed by Iceland in those departments. [bbutton bookmaker="bet365"]

Iceland News and Form

What an introduction it was for Iceland to World Cup competition. In their first ever game at a World Cup, they held one of the pre-tournament favourites, Argentina to a 1-1 draw. They fully deserved the point that they worked so hard to get. Yes, they were on the back foot and camped in their own half for most of the game, but they remained organised and they played with tremendous spirit. Iceland did also look really good on the break because when the timing was right, they just poured forward and showed some cracks in the Argentinean defence. Throw on top of that their aerial height from set pieces and they will beat rehat in this game. The only concern about backing them outright to win the game is that they are not in winning touch, much like Nigeria. Iceland are only D2 L3 in their last five games played which isn't great and their defence has been vulnerable in that sequence. But they don’t look too likely to lose against Nigeria realistically and if they can get up a head of steam, there is a big three points on offer for them here. The bet365 first goalscorer market favourite is Alfred Finnbogason who is at 5/1* (Betting Odds were taken from June 19th, 2018 at 9:47 p.m.) and he had a great game up front holding the ball up against Argentina.

Croatia v Nigeria Predictions & Betting Odds – World Cup 2018

Croatia v Nigeria- World Cup 2018
Croatia v Nigeria Betting Preview - World Cup 2018 16th June - 8.00 p.m (Full time: 2:0 - goals: Etebo 32' (OG), Modric 71' (P)) Croatia have been labelled as being a dark horse Russia 2018 and this action is coming from the competitive Group D which also houses Argentina and Iceland. Croatia are going to need to make a strong start to play up to their billing. Nigeria just seen their form fall away ahead of the tournament and so we will be interesting to see if they can shake that off and cause some kind an upset here. Here are our Croatia v Nigeria predictions.

Croatia News and Form

In trying to pick out some dark horses for the 2018 World Cup, Croatia look as if they should be top of the list. They don’t actually look a bad option to go and beat Argentina to win Group D outright. Ahead of their big game against Argentina, which will be their second fixture, Croatia will want to have three points on the board going into that. Croatia are doing okay with their form having won five of their last nine, losing just two of those. They faced African opponents on the weekend in their final warm-up fixture as they took a 2-1 win over Senegal. Croatia have only won two of their last five fixtures though and have just been struggling in front of goal. For our Croatia v Nigeria predictions running as one of our key options is under 2.5 goals is at 8/13 odds with bet365* (Betting Odds were taken on June 12th, 2018 at 8:29 p.m.). That does have pretty good appeal as Croatia have failed to hit the back of the net in three of their last five games played. The real strengths of Croatia lie in the middle of the pitch with a fantastic high-quality midfield, and they will look to their main man Mario Mandzukic for goals and he is the 8/5 odds favourite in the bet365 anytime goalscorer market* (Betting Odds were taken on June 12th, 2018 at 8:29 p.m.). Croatia did not actually manage to win their World Cup 2018 qualification group, finishing second behind Iceland who they will meet again in Group D. They eased their way past Greece in the World Cup qualifying play-off round and they should be competitive at the World Cup, with a lot of their players plying their trade at top European clubs. Croatia have only conceded more than one goal on two occasions in their last nine games so it’s hard to see Nigeria tearing them apart. [bbutton bookmaker="bet365"]

Nigeria News and Form

So in our predictions for Nigeria v Croatia we aren’t expecting the scoreboard be ticking over on a regular basis. Croatia do look better of the two nations and they are favourites to win this, but with their lack of goal output it may well be worth considering Croatia to win by a one-goal margin at 12/5 odds with bet365* (Betting Odds were taken  on June 12th, 2018 at 8:29 p.m.). The Super Eagles have seen their form fall away ahead of the World Cup, which is pretty poor timing. They can be forgiven for their 2-1 defeat against England at the beginning of June, but then their follow-up lost against the Czech Republic is not a result that bodes well for them in having to take on Croatia who are a much higher quality opponent. Nigeria have come up with only two goals in their last four fixtures, which for Croatia v Nigeria predictions again indicates that goals may be at a premium. You can consider both teams not to score option at 4/6 odds with bet365* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 12th, 2018 at 8:29 p.m.) and that looks like a pretty reasonable option. At the end of the day, Nigeria may not be able to hold themselves together at the back because they have only managed to earn one clean sheet in their last eight games, with defeats coming in four of those. So based on their current form which has seen them lose three of their last four games, it looks as if the Super Eagles are going to have a hard time working their way into this fixture. Getting enough quality ball off of Croatia is going to be a tough task in and of itself.

Croatia v Nigeria Head to Head

This Group D meeting at the 2018 World Cup will be the first ever competitive match-up between Croatia and Nigeria.

Croatia v Nigeria Betting Odds*

Croatia 8/11 Draw 27/10 Nigeria 19/4 * (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 12th, 2018 at 8:29 p.m.)

Croatia v Nigeria Predictions

We like the setup for Croatia have and they have a good enough midfield to control this game and drive forward to collect three points. The Nigerians are blowing just a little cold have the moment and although they will have patches of competitiveness, our Croatia v Nigeria predictions suggest that Croatia can win by a one-goal margin.
