Paddy Power punter beats 5000/1 odds on acca

Paddy Power
Small-stake accumulators placed on the weekend’s football action is generally a common thing for punters. It is not quite as common that beating the big accumulator odds actually happens. But one Paddy Power punter did manage to beat some massive odds, getting the better of odds of 5000/1 to land themselves a nice windfall. The punter had played a nine-fold accumulator and with eight of the legs already having been completed, it was all down to Aston Villa to complete the job for them. But it wasn’t looking peachy for the Villains who were trailing 2-1 at home to Wigan on the weekend. But in the 55th minute, the Latics netted an own-goal to get Aston Villa back in the frame. But things looked to be petering out to a draw as the game rolled into stoppage time. The punters bet looked as if it was going down the drain. But then Villa’s Birkir Bjarnason turned in a cross in the 94th minute to give the Villains a dramatic 3-2 victory to complete the bet. That late goal for the Villians returned the punter a £5,483 prize which certainly is not bad from a £1 stake.

Cigarette emoji even money to be stubbed out

Novelty Betting & Other Events Betting
We've probably seen it all now. How about some emoji betting? Earlier this week it was World Emoji Day but following on from that Paddy Power have fired up a market for Emjoi betting. This is after a movement that has been started about getting the cigarette emoji removed from Apple devices. This isn’t actually new because a previous protest campaign saw the gun emoji banned as well and now the attention has turned to smoking. Paddy Power have made the cigarette emoji the favourite to be the next one to go and that is at a price of even money* (betting odds taken from July 18th, 2018 at 11:34 pm). The calls to get it stubbed out have been increasing. Who knew when online betting was started that it would lead to the point of betting on emojis? #BanCigaretteEmoji campaign which is at the centre of all this has gained well over 1,000 signatures to try and force Apple to take down the increasingly unpopular emoji. There are other options as well in this Apple - Which Emoji Will Apple Ban Next Betting Odds market at Paddy Power with the Pistol at 13/8, and the Kitchen knife and Syringe both at 16/1 odds to be the next to go* (betting odds taken from July 18th, 2018 at 11:34 pm). An NHS Smoking Cessation Specialist Nurse, said: “It’s all about the message that it’s acceptable, in saying that it’s a good thing. If it’s out there all the time, and younger more vulnerable people see it – it can normalise something that is incredibly dangerous. “Putting 3,000 chemicals into your body is not a normal or okay thing to do, and a ban on the cigarette emoji would be a big step in the right direction in the battle against smoking. “If we can get through to children and adults that it isn’t actually the norm – that’s a massive step. “Children do not need a cigarette emoji on their phone, I really don’t see any situation they would need it at their developing age. “It’s absolutely avoidable and it’s not a good message for anyone to be exposed to cigarettes in any shape or form, there are no benefits to them – only illness and poverty due to how expensive they are now.”

Aguero trimmed to 6/1 to make Real Madrid move

Novelty Betting & Other Events Betting
Wednesday afternoon saw a big market shift on Sergio Aguero departing English Premier League champions Manchester City for pasture new. Paddy Power announced that they had received a series of bets on Aguero going to Real Madrid in the summer and the market price tumbled from 33/1 down to 6/1* (Betting Odds were taken from July 18th, 2018 at 10:22 p.m.). There really hasn’t been much word on the future of Aguero at Manchester City, but Real Madrid is actively looking to shake things up over the same, especially having landed nearly £100 million in the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus. Aguero is 7/1 to go back to his former club Atletico Madrid* (Betting Odds were taken from July 18th, 2018 at 10:22 p.m.). Sergio Aguero Next Club after Summer Transfer Window Real Madrid – 6/1 Atletico Madrid – 7/1 PSG – 25/1 Barcelona – 25/1 Bayern – 33/1 * (Betting Odds were taken from July 18th, 2018 at 10:22 p.m.) Spokesman Paddy Power said: “Could it be a case of Sergi-go this summer for Aguero? Most clubs would be loathe to lose such a talent, but maybe not Pep Guardiola – who frequently dropped him last season, and would probably unearth yet another world beater to replace Aguero with.” Aguero joined Manchester City in 2011 and has scored 143 goals in 206 appearances for them. He wouldn’t totally be one for the future though as he just turned 30 in June. Real Madrid have been linked with some big names from around Europe this summer like Eden Hazard, Thibaut Courtois and that persistent link between them and Neymar.

Celebrity Big Brother 2018 Housemate Betting Odds & Preview

Novelty Betting & Other Events Betting
The rumours are flying around as to who is going to be in the Celebrity Big Brother house for the next edition of the reality show. Yes, it is coming back again and there are some strange names floating around that punters are picking at. Paddy Power has a comprehensive list of potential housemates up and a couple of the stand out ones are Samantha Grant and Thomas Markle. Samantha is the half-sister of the newly titled Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle and Thomas is the father of both Samantha and Meghan. That would throw some fuel on some Royal fire somewhere because Meghan and Samantha are estranged, but Samantha is reportedly already going to be putting together a tell-all book about her relationship with Meghan and their “home life”. She doesn’t appear to be a person who worries about being candid. Then you have at 10/1 odds Ines Knauss* (betting odds taken from July 16th, 2018 at 7:24 pm) who is fully out of left field. This is the sister of Melania Trump, the First Lady of the United States. Further down the list, you have a 33/1 shot on Stormy Daniels* (betting odds taken from July 16th, 2018 at 7:24 pm) the adult actress who claims to have had relations with Donald Trump. The market leader and odds-on favourite is TOWIE star Bobby Cole Norris with Love Island’s Gabby Allen and model Chloe Ayling joining him and Samantha Grant at odds-on prices.

Paddy Power punter lands nearly £100k from World Cup quarter finals

Paddy Power
One punter at Paddy Power was left celebrating before the close of the World Cup 2018 quarter finals. The punter had managed to correctly predict the correct score of each of the four matches over 90 minutes. They had selected their options in a £20 four-fold with the bookmaker. The punter, who is based in Surrey and who is in their 60’s had started with the 7/1 selection on France beating Uruguay in the opening quarter-final. France were so comfortable in that game and the bet was completed when France striker Antoine Griezmann saw his routine effort blundered by Uruguay keeper Fernando Muslera to give Les Bleus the 2-0 win. Next up was the most impressive result in the bet. That was Belgium’s 2-1 success over Brazil which was backed at a price of 11/1. Fernandinho put through his own net to give the Red Devils the lead before Kevin De Bruyne struck a sweet second for Belgium. The desperate Brazil did get one back in the second half but it wasn’t enough as the Europeans closed out for the final quarter of an hour. So with the first day of quarter final action down, it was bated breath until Saturday. England produced that composed 2-0 win over Sweden in Samara to make it three from three for the punter. The 2-0 option on the Three Lions was at 7/1 odds. That left everything hinging on the game between Russia and Croatia playing out to a 1-1 draw at 90 minutes for 11/2 odds. Croatia had been favourites for that game, but they had to come from behind to equalise. It meant that the punter had to sit through 51 agonising minutes of that game before the final whistle was blown. So the punter really wouldn't have cared what happened in the extra time in the game between Croatia and Russia (which ended 2-2 and Croatia winning the penalty shoot-out) because they had collected £99,840 return from their £20 stake.

Paddy England Specials as Three Lions hit semi finals

Paddy Power
The country is now fully gripped in World Cup fever as Gareth Southgate's young England side has made it through to the semi-finals where they will be facing Sweden on Wednesday. The country is buzzing, the young Three Lions are playing with belief and commitment and who knows, after going into the tournament as nothing more than a hopeful outsider, England could bring it home. Paddy Power have tossed out some more England specials to keep the hype going along nicely as we await the Croatia v England fixture. England are the 13/10 favourites* (betting odds were taken from July 7th, 2018 at 7:17 pm) at Paddy Power to land the win in that match, which is going to be an incredibly intense affair. The feel-good factor is pretty high right now and after calls from football fans and ever Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, Paddy Power have slashed the odds on a National Holiday being declared should England win this summer’s World Cup from 20/1 down to 5/1* (betting odds were taken from July 7th, 2018 at 7:17 pm). Naturally, patriots punters have been piling into England winning the World Cup and bookmakers are going to be hit hard if they go and win the title. Towards the back end of last year England were nothing more than 20/1 shots to win the 2018 World Cup, but now they are in at 13/10* (betting odds were taken from July 7th, 2018 at 7:17 pm). Paddy Power revealed that over 30% of bets on the World Cup outright winner market they have received have been for England. Harry Kane has six goals to his name at the tournament and is two ahead of main threat Romelu Lukaku heading into the semifinals. Before the tournament, you could have taken 66/1 odds on a Kane/England double but now you are down to 13/5 odds with the bookmaker for that* (betting odds were taken from July 7th, 2018 at 7:17 pm). Kane is the 8/13 Sports personality of the Year favourite as well* (betting odds were taken from July 7th, 2018 at 7:17 pm). Spokesman Paddy Power said: “Show me someone in England who says they wouldn’t take an extra Bank Holiday and I’ll show you a liar. Plus, I reckon the country will need at least a day to dry out from the beer should they win it. “The sun is shining, Three Lions is headed for Number One and we’re going to get stung for millions if Southgate lifts the trophy. It’s not hard to see why you English folk are getting carried away.” With Skinner & Baddiel's “Three Lions” song which has pretty much been adopted as England’s anthem receiving 450,000 plays on the day England met Colombia in the quarter finals, that is odds-on at 1/2 to hit Number One in the UK in the month of July.

England Specials

Gareth Southgate 6/1 to be Knighted in New Year’s honours

Paddy Power
It has been a tournament of high excitement for England at the 2018 World Cup and after their intense heroics against Colombia in the round of sixteen, bookmaker Paddy Power decided to fire up some England specials, but with nothing to do directly with their performances at the 2018 World Cup. England will face Sweden on Saturday for a place in the semi-finals but at the moment the country is still riding the high of winning their first ever World Cup shootout as they dumped the South Americans Colombia from the competition. Paddy Power traders have put 6/1 odds* (betting odds were taken from July 5th, 2018 at 10.00 pm) on England boss Gareth Southgate being honoured in the New Years’ honours list and that is a pretty drastic chop considering that he was nothing more than a 250/1 shot ahead o the 2018 World Cup. Another of the England heroes from this World cup campaign is, of course, Harry Kane out on the pitth who has set himself up with a pretty decent shot at winning the Golden Boot after scoring six goals in three games. Kane is at 16/1 odds* (betting odds were taken from July 5th, 2018 at 10.00 pm) to receive a Knighthood come the announcement of the awards at the end of the year. Another of the big end of year features is the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award and even if England can’t deliver the title then Kane would be a pretty strong contender to win the title and he is 8/11 at the moment* (betting odds were taken from July 5th, 2018 at 10.00 pm) to do that. Without a shadow of a doubt, the England team are probably going to walk away with the Team of the Year Award at the ceremony considering the new life they have breathed into the game. England are 4/1 shots to win the 2018 World Cup* (betting odds were taken from July 5th, 2018 at 10.00 pm)  ahead of the quarter finals. After England got through that tense trial against Colombia, comedians Skinner and Baddiel posted a picture of themselves together celebrating on social media. You know what that means, of course, speculation of whether or not they would re-release their famous anthem 'Three Lions' if England wins the World Cup.

England Specials at Paddy Power*

1/5 – England to win the Sports Personality Team of the Year Award 2018 8/11 – Harry Kane to win the Sports Personality of the Year Award 2018 4/1 – England to win the 2018 World Cup 4/1 – Baddiel & Skinner to release a 2018 edition of ‘Three Lions’ 6/1 – Gareth Southgate to be knighted in the New Year’s Honours list 16/1 – Harry Kane to be knighted in the New Year’s Honours list * (betting odds were taken from July 5th, 2018 at 10.00 pm)

World Cup goals record costs Paddy Power £700,000 payouts

Paddy Power
Bookamer Paddy Power had to dig deep in their pockets after the conclusion of the 2018 World Cup group stage. The operator had to shell out around £700,000 to punters who had backed a bit of World Cup history being created.

All teams to score at least 2 goals

Paddy Power had offered odds of 100/1 prior to the start of the tournament that all 32 teams at the tournament would score at least two goals, something that had never before been done at a tournament. But thanks to a couple of strikes on the final day of the group stage matches, history was created and punters were celebrating. On the final day of the group stage fixtures at Russia 2018 was a Group G fixture of Tunisia v Panama which had nothing riding on it other than avoiding the wooden spoon. Panama, in their first ever World Cup had gotten their first ever goal in the World Cup Finals against England in their heavy 6-1 loss against the Three Lions. But they went in 1-0 up at half time against Tunisia thanks to a deflected shot, giving them their second goal of the game. Panama were denied the win though as the Africans fought back for a 2-1 victory. Poland was the only other team not to have made it past one goal in the group stage, but they got a winner from Jan Bednarek for a 1-0 success against Japan in their final match, the Poles having already been eliminated.

Poland and Panama punish Paddy Power

So with Panama and Poland making it to two goals on the final day of group stage matches, Paddy Power had a costly payout to punters who had taken up the challenge and the biggest of them was one punter who had taken a £150 chance on the wager. A Paddy Power spokesperson said: "I feel a right Pan-ana after that goal. Panama haven’t given their fans too many reasons to celebrate this tournament, but that strike will be cheered loudly by hundreds of punters across the country.”

Steven Gerrard even money to not last the season at Rangers

Paddy Power
How will Steven Gerrard’s first foray into club management go? The former Liverpool man has taken a big step up from coaching the youth of the Reds to take the helm at Scottish side Rangers. Given that their Glasgow rivals Celtic are dominating the entire Scottish scene, it is going to be a tall order for Gerrard to get the Gers to close the gap. Paddy Power have priced up 1/4 odds* (betting odds taken on May 8th, 2018 at 1:44 a.m.) on Gerrard not managing to win a single piece of silverware during his time in the Ibrox hot seat and there is even money that he will get the boot from the job before the end of his first season in charge. It is all going to depend on expectancy at the club. Is Gerrard being given major cash to spend? Are Rangers trusting him to develop the youth for a couple of years to try and make a longer-term challenge to Celtic that way? Rangers are 8/1 odds* (betting odds taken on May 8th, 2018 at 1:44 a.m.) at Paddy Power to win the first Old Firm derby of next season with Celtic in at 4/11 odds* (betting odds taken on May 8th, 2018 at 1:44 a.m.). Rangers are in double figures to win the Scottish Premiership next season. Of course, things could not pass without Paddy Power firing off some extra markets like a 6/5 price* (betting odds taken on May 8th, 2018 at 1:44 a.m.) on Gerrard losing his footing on the sidelines next season during one of his games in charge. Gerrard famously slipped in the 2013/14 Premier League match against Chelsea, gifting the Blues a goal which saw Liverpool’s surprise title challenge destroyed. He will be taking on his former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers as well, who is the current Celtic manager. You can take 9/2 odds* (betting odds taken on May 8th, 2018 at 1:44 a.m.) on there being a touchline bust-up between the two of them.

Paddy Power Steven Gerrard Specials Odds*

Gerrard to leave Rangers without winning a trophy 1/4 Rangers to lose first Old Firm derby under Gerrard 4/11 Gerrard to get sacked before the end of his first season EVENS Gerrard to slip over on the touchline during a 2018/19 Rangers game 6/5 Gerrard to have a touchline bust-up with Brendan Rodgers 9/2 Rangers to win first Old Firm derby 8/1 Rangers to win the SPL in Gerrard’s first season 12/1 Rangers to go on a pre-season tour of Istanbul 16/1 Rangers to win the Champions League within the next three seasons 1000/1 * (all betting odds taken on May 8th, 2018 at 1:44 a.m.)

Bookies relieved as Royals pick the name Louis

Novelty Betting & Other Events Betting
Bookies were relieved on Friday as Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge pulled a name out of left field for their third child. The couple called the newborn Louis Arthur Charles and the name Louis was around 6/1 odds but at some places, bookmakers had ignored the name like at Paddy Power where it was an 18/1 in the build up to the big unveiling. Heading up the market for the name of the next royal baby just before Kensington Palace made their announcement, was Albert at 2/1 odds. Paddy Power had suspended betting on the market early on Friday after a late flurry of action on Albert. That was after, they announced, that they had paid out on the name Arthur before the Royals had even left the hospital. Ladbrokes had Louis at 20/1 odds after the birth and was at 14/1 early on Friday morning. Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Prince Louis has caught both bookies and punters by surprise. With it being one of Prince George’s middle names fans didn’t see it as an obvious front-runner for Kate and Wills second son.” “It looks like we made the right decision to keep betting open until the very end for royal punters, rather than suspending the market or paying out early due to the rumour mill going into overdrive, as we so often saw over the last few days.” Not many punters predicted Louis in the Royal baby name betting so it has proved to be a little bit of a surprise, to the relief of the bookmakers who feared the late gamble on Albert,” said Coral’s John Hill. But one punter at Betfair clearly had a startling revelation as someone stuck a £12,000 bet at Betfair on the royal baby being named Louis on Friday morning. Betfair's biggest winner of the day was a £3,200 payout in Leicester by a punter who bet £200 yesterday when the odds were at 16/1. But as news of the name seemingly leaked out through this morning, the odds kept shortening. “At 6 am this morning the name Louis was at 120/1, so a £10 bet at that time would have netted you £1,200," said Betfair's Katie Baylis. "Those odds kept shortening throughout the morning and by 9 am Louis was at 60/1, at 10.30 30/1 and just 15 minutes later was at 9/1. "By 11 am when the name was announced it was as short as 1/100 and we had had 12k bet on Louis this morning alone."
