Thursday Racing Ludlow 14.50 – Snowden gelding on track to break his duck at 11/2 with Bet365

Exod'ela seems extra lift on handicap debut

Horse Racing Betting

It’s rare to see four Class 3 races on a midweek jumps card, especially one this close to the Cheltenham Festival, so Ludlow executives are to be applauded for their sense of adventure.

Unfortunately, trainers have not been so generous in their support. Just 25 runners in total will contest the four handicaps, though they all appear to be open-looking affairs.

With a first prize of almost £13,000, the Forbra Gold Cup Handicap Chase is the most valuable but equal value for punters can be gleaned from the 14.50 “Fearless”,The Tim Brookshaw Story, Launches Today “National Hunt” Novices’ Handicap Hurdle.

Tim Brookshaw was a champion jump jockey who broke his back yet overcame paralysis to not just to walk again but to ride in a race and school horses over fences. He finished second in a Grand National without stirrups and became a key figure in the setting up of the Injured Jockeys Fund.

Star seeking to shine over longer trip

Nautical Star has only run three times, all over 2m. He was second at Ludlow in the latest of them and has had a wind operation since.
There’s a good chance he will be a different proposition over the longer distance but bookmakers are divided on how short they should price up the JP McManus-owned handicap debutant – Betvictor offering 15/8 when he is only 5/4 in places.

Newest One seeking to uphold family tradition

The Newest One is a half-brother to the top-class The New One and is also making his handicap debut.
Lightly raced so far, there is likely to be plenty more to come from the five-year-old, whis another stepping up in distance. He is 9/2 with 888sport.

Getaway may not have scope of rivals

Grey Getaway has already raced five times over hurdles so is a little more exposed than most of the others.
In his favour is the fact that he’s trained by Paul Nicholls but he has already been beaten in a handicap and Bet365 are offering 11/2 against him winning this.

Proven stamina could help Snowden runner scale the heights

Though yet to win under Rules, EXOD’ELA has won a point-to-point.
He was far from disgraced over 2m7f at Exeter last time but the trip was probably a shade too far.
His best run so far came over 2m3f at Hereford, the distance of today’s race. He’s almost guaranteed to run up to a mark of 119 and could be the safest option at 11/2 with Bet365 in a fascinating contest which has even got the bookmakers at loggerheads.
