Today’s football betting tips for Wednesday will be paying another visit to the matchday one action from the UEFA Champions League.

Tuesday had Chelsea and Manchester United both in action and Wednesday sees the starts of Liverpool and Manchester City.

The big game of the night though is the clash between Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid.

We will also be taking a look at Wednesday’s action from the Championship.

Best Football Betting Tips Today: Ajax v Liverpool

Liverpool have been conceding plenty of goals in their last couple of Premier League fixtures, and now have lost key defender Virgil van Dijk to a long-term injury.

So that may make this trip to the Netherlands for their opening game of the 2020/21 Champions League a little trickier.

The Reds are, however, 4/6 odds-on favourites to pick up three points on their travels from this game.

It’s reasonable enough, they still have that abundance of attacking quality within them.

The reds have actually failed to win any of their last three games now across all competitions (D2 L1).

Ajax, who are the 10/3 underdogs here, do have a bit of momentum and form behind them at the moment.

They are W4 L1 in the new season of the Eredivisie, and they are averaging over two goals per fixture there.

Ajax always turns up and play a bold and adventurous game, but the concern has to be about the lack of ability to keep Liverpool off the scoresheet.

The Dutch side haven’t taken a clean sheet in any of their last three games played.

Liverpool to win at 4/6

Football Betting Picks Today: Man City v Porto

After reaching the semi finals last season, Manchester City are still finding that winning the Champions League is no easy thing.

They will kick off their latest assault on the coveted title on Wednesday night when they play host to Porto.

It’s no surprise to see the Citizens as the favourites for this one, and they are at 1/4 with Boylesports to make a positive start.

Because of injury problems this season, things haven’t been all smiles and roses for the Citizens at all, who have won two of their last four games in all competitions only.

But in their previous home game against Porto, in the 2012 Europa League, the Citizens romped to a 4-0 home success.

Porto found the European campaign last season a bit tough going and they are huge 9/1 underdogs in this fixture.

That’s a lot of ground that the bookmakers think that they have to make up on this trip to the Etihad.

We would have to agree with that, but don’t totally trust the back line of the Citizens.

Man City to win & BTTS at 11/8

Football Betting Tips for Today: bayern Munich v Atletico Madrid

What a clash this is going to be for a bit of early supremacy in their UEFA Champions League group.

Bayern have won their last three home games against Atletico Madrid and the reigning Champions League champions are 8/15 odds-on to beat them again.

It has been a four-match winning streak from Bayern Munich across all competitions recently and once again the goals are flowing.

Bayern have scored at least three goals in each of the four wins in that sequence of positive results.

But facing up to Atletico Madrid, who knocked Liverpool out of last season’s Champions League, is never an easy thing.

Diego Simeone’s men have made an unbeaten start to their new domestic campaign, taking a W2 D2 record from their four games.

As usual, they have been mean at the back, conceding just the one goal in that sequence of games.

We know that Atelti are going to turn up in Germany and try and keep their shape and battle for everything.

Atletico Madrid are the 9/2 underdogs with Boylesports.

But we see the creativity and power of Bayern winning the night, probably by only a narrow margin against the Spaniards.

Bayern to win by a 1 goal margin at 13/5

Online Betting Football Tip: Sheffield Wednesday v Brentford

Next for today’s football betting, we are turning out attention to the Championship for a couple of fixtures.

We are starting with Sheffield Wednesday v Brentford which is interesting as the Owls have won their last three home games against the Bees.

Wednesday are W2 D2 L1 this season which is a massively positive start for them as they kicked off the season with a 12 point penalty.

So they are already catching up.

They are unbeaten on home soil as well, having taken draws against Watford and QPR at Hillsborough.

Sheffield Wednesday are the 12/5 underdogs though for this home fixture, which for all the world, looks as if it is going to be a tight tussle.

Bretford have taken a W2 D1 L2 record from their efforts so far but their two wins in that sequence have happened at home.

So far on the road, they have lost at Birmingham (where Sheffield Wednesday won at the weekend) and have drawn at Millwall.

For Boro to be going to Hillsborough as the 23/20 odds-against favourites, we think that’s underestimating the Owls a little bit.

Sheffield Wednesday to win at 12/5
