GET A TONIC has been going strong the last twice, having claimed back to back runners-up finishes.

Those were both at the Listed level.

Better focus at Doncaster last time out should have gotten her the win, but on her handicap debut for this top yard, Get A Tonic should have a big shout.

AURORA THUNDER claimed a second palace finish in last year’s renewal of this very race, so knows what it is all about.

Aurora Thunder won at Musselburgh at the start of the year and has followed up with a couple of place finishes. She looks like she will be competitive.

GLIMPSE OF GALA has been coming on very well this season and has racked up three wins in her last five.

The latest of those victories was scored at Ludlow on her latest run last month.

There has been another 6lb handed to her, but Glimpse Of Gala looks in great heart at the moment.

Tip: GET A TONIC 15/8

Ones to watch: Glimpse Of Gala 9/2, Aurora Thunder 9/1

ISHOTTHESHERIFF is under a 5lb penalty for Friday’s run at Ayr.

That’s after a score just under two weeks ago at Carlisle.

He easily won that contest and has a lot more to offer as well. Whoshotthesheriff has to be on the radar in this competitive race.

BEAKSTOWN could stick the 3m last time out at Kempton, but he went well for a long way regardless.

So the drop back in trip could be a huge positive for him and he was second around this distance at Cheltenham earlier this year. He’s not to be discounted for a top yard.

FLIC OU VOYOU carded a runner up spot at Sandown three weeks ago and gets a 2lb rise for it.

That was a good effort from him after having had a break of 3 months.

There was a victory for Flic Ou Voyou earlier this season as well and should rate as a danger.

PRESENTANDCOUNTING returns after a long break, not having run since a low-key effort in October.

But he was in superb form before that, racking up four straight wins and the move to the fences has clearly worked out well for him.

Tip: WHOSHOTTHESHERIFF 15/2

Ones to watch: Beakstown 4/1, Flic Ou Voyou 7/2

PLATINUM CARD is one of the big players in his one, but he will need to shrug off a long break from National Hunt action.

It’s been well over a year since he was seen over the hurdles.

He has been working well on the flat since then, racking up four wins on the level.

Platinumcard gets the tongue-tie for the first and this will be the handicap hurdle debut for him as he moves to Gordon Elliott.

JOHN LOCKE didn’t complete on his latest, pulling up at Kempton on his handicap debut in December.

The ground wasn’t doing him any favours there, however.

John Locke has been away since then, but he did score well over the hurdles in November and retains plenty of potential.

SINCE DAY ONE has put in some tremendous form this season, winning four of his last five runs and does not look like slowing up.

He was a winner at Newcastle on his handicap debut a month ago and has moved up 5lb which looks within his scope.

Tip: SINCE DAY ONE 4/1

Ones to watch: John Locke 8/1, Platinumcard 11/10

IRISH HILL has made some nice steady progress in this sphere, picking up a win on his debut at Taunton.

It’s been back to back place finishes since, including a runner-up spot over course and distance a month ago.

Irish Hill comes in 1lb out of the handicap but isn’t with a big chance of coming good in this contest.

BLACK POPPY is seeking a hattrick after really finding his feet in handicapping recently.

Those recent scores were taken at Hereford and there at Newbury over course and distance. Black Poppy rates as a big danger up to 4lb.

MARK OF GOLD comes down 2lb after a fourth on his handicap debut at the course and distance a month ago.

He had won a couple of minor events before that, and the revised mark has every chance of putting him in this.

Tip: BLACK POPPY 11/4

Ones to watch: Irish Hill 2/1, Mark Of Gold 9/1

DARGIANNINI picked up a decent third palace finish at Kempton in a handicap effort a month ago.

That was after a break of about three months so it was a credible effort. The extra distance may see him go even better.

ORBYS LEGEND picked up an excellent score at Chepstow on his seasonal reappearance and then doubled his tally for the salon at Wincanton in December.

His latest effort was a bust, looking well out of sorts at Sandown.

But Orbys Legend looks to have enough about him considering the form before that to bounce back.

ANNSAM was a winner in the Silver Cup Chase at Ascot in December but couldn’t add to that tally in two efforts.

There was a good effort by him to take third place on the return to the hurdles a couple of weeks ago at Kempton.

He’s up to 1lb and looks like posing a threat.

Tip: ORBYS LEGEND 5/1

Ones to watch: Annsam 9/4, Dargiannini 3/1

ANIMAL is the first on the shortlist in this wide-open fixtures. Animal won at Fakenham at the start of the year.

In February he followed up with a superb third-place finish at Market Rasen having been moved up 7lb.

He’s been sharpened up since and Animal could feature strongly.

DUC DE BEAUCHENE ran very well at Hereford last month to take a runner up place.

The big difference was that he got his somewhat unreliable jumping form altogether in that one, benefitting from a reduced mark.

A similar kind of performance could see Duc De Beauchene get it together for this one. The extra distance is likely to suit well.

YOUR DARLING scored back to back wins over the fences in October last year.

He hasn’t been able to add to that in three subsequent efforts.

The move to the cheek pieces could prove a good move for him after a poor effort at Cheltenham on his latest.

Tip: ANIMAL 7/1

Ones to watch: Duc De Beauchene 9/2, Your Darling 9/2
