TOMMY’S OSCAR is the 5/2 current favourite for this handicap hurdle* (betting odds recorded 17:36 GMT on Thursday, 21st January 2021 at William Hill).

He will be seeking the completion of a hattrick as he pushes on in handicapping. He has had three wins in its last four runs.

On his last run he claimed a win in a maiden/novice hurdle at Newcastle in December.

That was on a 2m trip and it was by a very comfortable three lengths as well.

That’s back to back wins for Tommy’s Oscar at Newcastle, can he deliver at Musselburgh on his handicap debut?

UK Racing Odds & Tips

GOOBINATOR put in a slightly disappointing run last time out. As the favourite on a Haydock trip last month he finished fifth.

That was after having scored in a 2m hurdles effort at Ayr in October.

He should have enough to get in the frame, especially if he can rebound a little bit.

Because we think that the trip and the track suits him, Goobinator is our selection at 3/1* (betting odds recorded 17:36 GMT on Thursday, 21st January 2021 at William Hill).

VISION DU PUY is the other one for the shortlist in this action. She hasn’t been seen since December 2019 in a 2m 4f Cheltenahm trip.

She couldn’t get herself into the mix at all, running out of staying power in that one.

Trained by David Skelton, there’s a chance that Vision Du Puy will come back sharp enough to get herself in the frame.

He was last seen in action just over a couple of weeks ago when he took third of six.

That was in a minor event at Kempton when he wasn’t far away from the score.

Above was well in the mix inside the final furlong and he had three of those that he re-opposes today, behind him in the race.

STREAMLINE is a former Group 3 juvenile winner and was sixteen that recent duel at Kempton with some of those.

But that run was following a 16th month break and so he likely needed that air in his lungs.

There should be more to come from him on this as he looks as if he still retains plenty of ability.

BRIAN THE SNAIL should be respected again as he has been having a good winter.

He returned to action in that Kempton effort where he was fourth, just behind Above and ahead of Streamline and Aberama Gold.

He’s a good lively sort, and the last win that he collected was in December at this venue. Brian The Snail should be in the mix.

He will be looking to land a double in this one after scoring at Kelso on his last run. That was 47 days ago.

There is a big rise in the ratings for him. That’s an 11lb rise he deals with.

But Artic Mann has been progressing well this season and he may be in with a chance of defying that big hike.

SIDI ISMAEL retains some interest in this contest. He was running very well recently over course and distance and was in the lead when he fell two from home.

There is a 1lb rise for him from the last run which keeps him very competitive to say the least.

LOUGHERMORE could likely be the other key player in this contest. He picked up a win at Wetherby on his last run.

That was in some heavy conditions as well and he did not look bothered by that at all.

He completed a hattrick with a score over course and distance 17 days ago. That was another comfortable win for him and he delivered a career best in it.

Because of that, there is a big hint that there is even more to come from him and could be able to handle the 6lb rise that has been thrown at him.

BUY ME BACK took a third place finish in a Newcastle handicap three weeks ago on his latest run. She looked very competitive in that.

Buy Me Back should be rated as a threat in this fixture on the back of that run.

He was in a handicap effort at Wolverhampton 16 days ago when he took a very credible third place finish.

That run was 46 days ago and if he’s anywhere back near that kind of form then he should be in the frame.

IZZY’S CHAMPION rates a big threat in this contest as well. The last score that he picked up was over course and distance a year ago.

With another decent run here at Musselburgh in December on his most recent run, he could have a shout.

BE GOOD TO YOURSELF is another to consider. He was third at Leicester in November which continued his improvement in chasing under rules.

The track could be a better fit for him at Musselburgh though, as it is a right-hander. Claims are there.
