This is a superb field and there will be plenty of attention on JAPAN. After such an explosive campaign as a 3-year-old, he struggled to get going a bit in the last campaign.

But there was a good effort from him on his reappearance, getting a score at Chester.

There was a third-place finish for Japan at last year’s Derby here at Epsom and he can’t be counted out, although he is up against some tough opposition.

MOGUL is a threat as he makes a return to his best trip after a place finish at the Group 1 Prix Ganay.

There is a clear favourite for The Oaks and that is SANTA BARBARA at 5/2* (betting odds recorded 21:54 GMT on June 3rd 2021 at Bet365).

Last Autumn she scored impressively on her debut, which was at the Curragh. On her first run as a three-year-old, she was seen a month ago in the 1000 Guineas.

Santa Barabara ran a blinder in that one to claim fourth place in that contest, a brilliant effort for just her second racetrack appearance. This distance could play to her strengths.

She is a reliable filly and was fourth in the Fillies’ Mile in her final effort as a 2 year old. On her reappearance, Dubai Fountain went in the Cheshire Oaks and delivered a success there against Zeyaadah to whom she conceded 3lb.

There was further good progress made by her there and definitely looks to be a player in this strong contest. Arion Fox signed off a 2-year-old with a good score at Kempton at this distance.

She is still a maiden and the 4-year-old has been lightly raced. But she was a lot better than her bare result last time out in February at Kempton.

That was on her handicap debut and it was a decent contest as well. So there is promise on her side and since then she has had a wind op that could help.

We are taking a chance of PHYSICS who was on the up at the end of the last campaign.
