The race favourite for this Catterick chase is ZEE MAN at 9/4* (betting odds recorded 18:37 GMT on Thursday, 4th February 2021 at William Hill).

He is still a maiden over the hurdles, but he scored in a chase effort on his last run at Fakenham. That was for a new yard last month.

Coming back to hurdling he is off a 7lb higher mark and he should be able to build on that positive run.

That score at Fakenham was after a 10 month break and he looked renewed.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

RELKADAM had a positive run here on his penultimate effort, scoring at course and distance.

He really made the most of a chance after falling the weights and coming down in grade.

Rekaldam followed up by failing to complete at Leicester, but had shaped well enough in the contest to be worth revisiting.

MCGINTY’S DREAM takes a drop in trip for Friday’s action. He won his first two efforts of the season (both at Hexham).

He hasn’t been back at that level since, pulling two hard in subsequent efforts. The distance may be more in his wheelhouse, so place claims are there.

There was a second place finish for Whatsdastory on her latest effort. She has been a fine hurdler and with a couple of positive efforts over the fences, she fits well here.

But this is a super competitive fixture and so she will have her work cut out for her against some strong chasing rivals.

QUICK WAVE gets the nod as our horse racing betting tip in this one at 3/1* (betting odds recorded 18:37 GMT on Thursday, 4th February 2021 at William Hill).

She was shaping very well at Sandown on her reappearnace, but fell a couple from home.

There is a drop in grade for her here and after a good hurdles effort on her latest run, she should be in the mix.

GIPSY LEE ROSE has some nice appeal for this contest as well with Brian Hughes getting back in the saddle.

It has been back to back second place finishes for Gipsy Lee Rose, both efforts happening at Kelso.

She’s in good spirits at the moment and is one to be feared.

We have a really tight scrap at the head of the horse racing betting market for this one with three runners at 5/1* (betting odds recorded 18:37 GMT on Thursday, 4th February 2021 at William Hill).

SMALL PRESENT has shown some nice consistent form this season. He was last in action on Boxing Day in a below par effort at Wetherby.

But he comes up on a trip which should raise his claims. Small Present should have a chance here to break his maiden.

LEGALIZED is another that is expected to be in the mix. On his last effort she made all to score by 10 lengths at Ayr.

She comes back into action at 6lb higher only which is a little bit lenient we feel.

So she really brings some big appeal and is our selection at 5/1* (betting odds recorded 18:37 GMT on Thursday, 4th February 2021 at William Hill).

The other main player is BIG PENNY who only found one too good for her on a hattrick bit recently.

She has been in stellar form and she swaps out the cheek pieces for the visor for the first time and it would be no surprise to see her get close to winning ways again.

He will be looking to land a double after scoring at Warwick 46 days ago in a handicap contest. There is a 6lb rise for Western Climate on the back of that.

But Western Climate likes the mud and so the conditions are going to be right in his favour on Friday. On the back of a consistent season, he should be bang there.

The winner of last year’s renewal was HOLDBACKTHERIVER and he will likely launch another bold effort. So he is a threat without question.

On his latest run Holdbacktheriver claimed a fifth place finish at Exeter in an encouraging run. The cheekpieces go back on.

We think that there could be more from MUFFINS FOR TEA in this contest. He was third on his last run, which was a 3m handicap at Wincanton a couple of weeks ago.

That was a nice improved run for him and it suggests that he may have a little more if Muffins For Tea can follow up.

There is potential combining into handicap for Easy As That. He is also taking on a longer trip as well which may help him out.

The jumping form that Easy As That has done over the hurdles on his two efforts this season hasn’t been great so far. But there’s room for improvement.

LAMANVER STORM took a good second place finish at Ayr on his latest run. That was back in in November and has been pegged as a big improver.

The switch to handicapping is likely going to help that development. He was heading in the right direction on his last run.

The other selection is going to be MISS JEANNE MOON who is a good mare with a bit of form. She delivered a win at Fontwell on her reappearance run which was in November.

She followed that up with a good place finish at Hereford after that.

It’s been a 72-day absence, but Miss Jeanne Moon warrants some respect 11/2* (betting odds recorded 18:37 GMT on Thursday, 4th February 2021 at William Hill).

He is looking to add a double after scoring easily at Uttoxeter on his last run. That was a comfortable run on what was his handicap debut for his yard.

There should be more on offer from Diamond Brig. He looks much renewed after what were three disappointing runs in the previous campaign.

MOUSEONTHEHOUSE showed a great run at Ffos Las. He opened the season with a win and was in fantastic form in that latest effort 68 days ago.

He does have a lot on his plate in the handicapping, but warrants some big respect at 17/2* (betting odds recorded 18:37 GMT on Thursday, 4th February 2021 at William Hill).

DRAGONFRUIT makes a return to chasing, and he landed a win at Carlisle on his chasing debut.

That was on his penultimate run which he followed up with a hurdles effort at Huntington 45 days ago.

The switch back to the bigger stuff means that he is interesting to see where he takes the journey next.
